  • David Anderson described Rich Burt's ongoing use of the Larkin disk system and a 2068 accounting package, which Rich has been utilizing since 1983. Rich modified to the software to suit his specific needs.
Gustavo Pane told us about an Argentine retail store that used a Timex Sinclair system for all of its invoices, receipts, etc. They only switched to a PC when a law changed, requiring standardized invoicing.
Carl Miles and David discussed the differences between the 1000/1500 and 2068 cartridge systems. They also discussed the FCC approval and labeling requirements for the systems, with Carl pointing out that the labels and stickers were different for the two.
Carl discussed the evolution of home computers and their primary functions. He emphasized that early computers such as the Vic 20 and Atari 800 were initially marketed as advanced game machines, rather than as programming tools. However, he pointed out that the ZX81 and TS 1000 were designed specifically for programming and learning computer basics.
