Oh, nostalgia is something else, boy, As a teenager, I came to Nairobi in the summer of '94- not speaking a word of Swahili and a little bit of broken English. During my schooling years, I experienced the matatu culture of deafening music. There were busses I wouldn't ride because they were allegedly boring, and I would wait half an hour until the right bus comes. I left Nairobi in '98 and came back in 2019- but so much has changed, I knew those days are gone forever. I visited again in '22, and I plan to live permanently in Kenya and become a citizen once I have the financial means. I adore the beautiful country and its genuinely nice people. I just dream of Kenya- that's how much I love the place, and the word love is not a word I use at all, expect in special circumstances.
Welcome back home, The Matatu Industry has really grown over the years thanks to Matatu Culture!💯🇰🇪 Bring friends and family over so they may experience and enjoy the Matatu Culture..🎯
Not true Most of the upload is from 2000-2008 But even if it was from 1996, that is not so long ago to claim moat have died I was around in 1996, and working and still alive and strong
Rather 1991 or 1992 coz there was tattoo sport and tattoo pekee plying number 8 Kibera . There was Rumpshaker on 46, kawangware and the manufacturer was Manori and later Catskill. I think number 9 Eastleigh had Lips as the best .
God bless you for this upload
Amen and thanks
God Bless you too..

#9 back in the days
Nothing has changed much just designs but the same chaotic, lawless culture
But the Matatu Culture has evolved to other major cities in Kenya
Where Nairobi's glory fell
🔥🎯
Golden times
Indeed🔥
The sad part is this mattress cost less than 1.5m total when new and used to make more than what current matatus are making.
Many used these Matatus back then, nowadays we have Uber and bodabodas in the share
I kinda like the curvy bodies of these old matatus than the current box style bodies
True.. They were made to last..
We're Bringing Them Back soon 🔜
I just heard ‘watu wakae! Tano! Tano!' for a place we currently pay 30 - 50 bob 😅

They are still on our roads assuming they were in their early 30s
Most are young granddads and are still on the road. I know a few.

Glad the bad roads have not killed Matatu Culture... The people responsible should do something especially CBD!
Lies!
How ? Maybe in the inner estates . Not in general the main arteries have really changed.
Duration of the vid tells you much about the creator 😂
HaKuna kulipa na simu huyu yoyo mdomo imeenda mlama na googles
