I got this gem when it came out. It's the best mix of this track by far. Not a 'hard' track but it's absolute darkness! All the better for the slower pace as well. Well ahead of its time and for me one of Doc Scott's finest (up there with 'Here Come The Drums' and 'Shadow Boxing').
These days were the best imo, dark,in yer face rough and ready, and you can actually dance to This, few years later the scene shifted to a faster more euro sounding rave mixes which I didn't like tbh,1000 BPM and over polished bs that killed it for me,89-93 were the best for different reasons
@@Organise_Space He was talking about the Hook riff sound from Mentasm by Joey Beltran, and the drumloop you’re referring to, that’s not the funky drummer break, it’s a collection of breaks from Hot Pants by Bobby Byrd, Radio Babylon by Meat beat Manifesto and N.T. by Kool and the Gang, all mixed together.
This is hardcore man. One of the best tracks ever made. Takes me back.
Absolute breakbeat hardcore history right here
One of the first 12s I bought back then : more relevant and powerful than ever.

'Never trust a girl when she looks at you with lust in her eyes, you should know what to do.......' - that one?
This is the sound we would of called 'proto jungle', dark but light, rough but smooth...house bpm, hardcore techno and jungle elements...lovely tune!

Mentasm
it's the "funky drummer" of D&B! :-)

@@thewashingtonguy8746 Hi, I Think I was trying to be funny (fail!), great excuse to listen to the tune again and impressed by the deep knowledge ;-)
@@Organise_Space Sorry I didn’t realize you was actually trying to be funny and yeah, a top tune back in the day. You have a good one mate. 😁👍
