- There is a ton of pressure surrounding Joe Hortiz entering his first draft as GM, and while many think he will trade back, he says it is going to take a great offer to do so. The Chargers will have a lot of leverage for a trade because great players will be available and they will stick and pick if the right deal isn't there. Dan and David discuss Hortiz' last press conference before the NFL Draft and how he brought up the receipts showing that he will go best player available over positional need. That is how Baltimore landed Kyle Hamilton while already having two starting safeties. The new GM also discussed what the power dynamic will be in the Chargers War Room, and why he is the guy making the final pick. He also talked about new running back JK Dobbins and why the signing won't preclude them from drafting an RB.

After that presser, my money is on Odunze or Bowers IF we stick at 5.
This is what I’ve been saying. Tell Minnesota if they want that 5th pick, we want the 11, 23 AND Jordan Addison. If not, good luck getting your QB at 11. Cardinals said they want a haul like SF gave to move up and get Lance. They want THREE 1st rounders and a 3rd. We should demand the same type of deal.
Vikings fans are slowly realizing they aren’t going to jump up for cheap because the top 3 WRs will be off the board at #11.
And tell Minnesota we will also offer Quentin Johnston in the deal.
Something to consider in trading back for extra picks is to make the trade with Minnesota for the 11th and 23rd picks. Then offer the 11th pick in another trade hoping it delivers a 2nd and a 3rd pick in return. With the 23rd pick once again and offer it in a trade hoping to get a 2nd and a 4th round pick.These picks would give the team the following picks : 3-2nd round picks, 2-3rd round picks, 3-fourth round picks, 1-5th round picks, 1-6th round picks, 2-7th round picks. That's 12 picks in the draft and 8 pick in the first four rounds in a deep draft.This may be a good way to rebuild the team but you may not get a blue chip player but in the 2nd and 3rd round you could possible end up with five potential starters.
I feel like Joe Hortiz is trying to sway Arizona's thoughts about picking a WR #1 vs. trading down for more picks so that they will open the door for the Chargers to take MHJ.....

To me that sounds like smoke screen. It doesn't take much to see that the Chargers are not Superbowl bound with the addition of a receiver. Two 1st rounders, or a 1st and a high second would be better. It also appears to me that this OT draft is deep in the sense that there's a bunch of really good OT, but they'll all be gone in the 1st round, because there's a huge dropoff after the 1st round guys. If we stick and pick we'll miss out on one of the tackles and a DT and one of the good CB's as well.
Pittsburgh desperately needs a WR and they have 5 picks inside top 120 (20, 51, 84, 98, 119). What we want is picks. If we get 4 from them we can use some to move around where Joe excels
BPA is different for different people
My best WR is Odunze and my best overall blue chip weapon is Brock Bowers. I am sure the Locked on boys will have a different view of who is the BPA and thats cool. Maybe Hortiz BPA is T Arnold or Dallas Turner. Unless they release the board for all to see who ever they pick at #1 will be BPA. Team needs obviosly play some role in who they pick as well.

We already have FOUR TEs 😂 You aren’t paying Dissly $14 million to block and paying Hurst to hang out on the bench with Parham and Smart to watch Bowers play. You take one of those elite WRs at 5
@michaelbell75 over half of the te on the team can't block or stay healthy. And romen likes 3 te sets. He's the best in class and does everything they want a te to do. I'll be surprised if smart makes it to the practice squad.
I think Ortiz knows he lost Keenan so maybe just maybe he knows he needs a big splash at 5
If they don’t end up with one of the main 3 WR’s or Brock Bowers with small trade backs
Must end up with a blue chip offensive weapon or I see it as a complete failure

I think if we pick at 5, it'll be Brock Bowers, if Harrison Jr isn't available

This has really been a negative pod. Like you're warning our GM to pick who you want. How many times do GM's get these questions? They say 'yeah, bpa' to blow people off

We're not warning our GM to do anything. We just said that it's hard to believe BPA is actually the approach if they take a Joe Alt over a MHJ because it's universally accepted knowledge that MHJ is the higher ranked prospect
I don't think I was coming across as a 'hater'. I'm an everydayer and love these guys. That doesn't mean we need to agree all the time. It's my understanding the comments section is for our opinions and I gave mine.
I do not agree with the stick and pick opinion. We need picks to fill this roster and there are teams that will trade up (like Pitt) to get one.
