    That was a good and fair review - just keep in mind in the lowest light settings you have to have the EV adjusted to +1.5/30FPS. You can also use the 2D filter to improve the image in darker environments, that combination plus monochrome improves the sight picture quite noticeably in the eye piece. To get the best out of the OSPIN 2.0 there is some user-device knowledge required. The vast majority of people do not understand the breadth of capability this device offers because they don't understand quantum efficiency and spectral range. For example this OPSIN can operate into the SWIR range which gives improved performance in hazy, smokey and or water borne environments.

      @DjAlonDevil 9 месяцев назад +1

      Only Photonis tubes are somewhat OOB, but Opsin's QE at above 940nm is higher than Photonis tubes. It's a cool idea to try and use OOB illumination, lasers aren't really available yet. It was strange to me that they kept the Opsin at 90Hz instead of lowering to 60 or 30 to improve LL performance. They clearly don't understand the device fully. I think the 2D noise was on though, I think it's on by default.

      Is there someplace to learn more about this other than direct experimentation? This is good info to have.

    • @aetius9
      @aetius9 9 месяцев назад

      @@DjAlonDevil What OOB illuminators are available? I suspect they pushed 90fps because people complain about eye strain if it's lower (same as in video games). Some people complained that 90fps wasn't enough and wanted 150-170 fps (Lucas at T-rex).

    as I commented on the other vids about the Opsin. I went to a night hunt with a guy who had one. I was using a cheaper PVS14 and a friend was using my other PVS14, both gen3, Omni 7 tubes, no major blems typical $2500 PVS14s. One guy had a $15K thermal setup and another guy had a high end WP gen3 duel system. The Opsin was just as good as the high end WP, better than my cheaper PVS14s, nowhere near as good as the thermal, but all that changed the second you try to walk, jog or run with a OPsin... you cant and the image is crap, you eat dirt even using single PVS14s we were able to move around normally while the guy with the Opsin was a soup sandwich, even he said it was worthless when he moved. He would creep very slowly behind us all night and sore he would never bring it hunting again.

Was looking for digital camera chips to maybe install in replacement of what's in my current digital nv monocle and stumbled on a page advertising a company's low light chips in development. They posted images from one in development that was literally VERY CLOSE to gen 3 analog. They were testing both against each other in identical conditions.
