Yes. My favorite SRV song. Very special. Written for his friend Charley Wirz who died of a heart attack. He was Stevie's mentor and he helped Stevie work on his guitars. The guitar Stevie uses for this song is named Charley after his friend. They worked on it it's a white guitar. Often brings tears to my eyes.

This is the quiticential Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble performance that everyone should be reacting to. That break down leading in to Reese Wynans' keyboard solo followed by that guitar flourish is just perfection.

Jeff was amazing I cooked a meal for him when he did his Jazz thing in a small dinner club, what a humble guy put on a great show for only 50 people, the SRV Jeff video is awesome I recommend..

I'm not sure if you are aware but there is a new YT channel that is remastering many SRV and other blues legends in 4K called "Vintage Blues in 4K". I thought you might like to know as the videos are stunning as is the sound. Maybe you can give "Cold Shot" or the nursery rhyme "Mary Had A Little Lamb" a listen as I see you haven't reacted to either of these yet. Enjoy.

'I ain't gonna give up on love' (my favorite SRV song) from this show is one of my favorite videos of Stevie... because of his reaction to audience applause after his solo..it really shows what a humble man he was. Everyone knew he was the best ever, except for Stevie. What a beautiful priceless gift he blessed the world with...something we should all be doing with the talents we're given. Great reaction from your newest subscriber..many blessing be yours!

My top guitarists are Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, Billy Gibbons, Steve Howe, and SRV. They're all amazing in their own right, but SRV's power, energy, and passion are second to none. He's comitted, all out. I guess if those I mentioned who don't get enough press is Steve Howe. As a guitar player myself, i can tell you there's no one like him in technique. He's rarely just playing chords or a solo. He uses chords, octaves, triades, and other combinations like no one I've ever played. Couple of others not mentioned much are Alvin Lee (see Goin' home, Woodstock), Frank Zappa, Alex Lifeson, Rory Gallagher, Jeff Healey, Vernon Reid, and Prince, who is certainly under-rated.

    • @shagnasty3004

I would add John Mayer to the list of underrated guitarists. He's a SRV historian of sorts, and is a dang good blues guitarist.

Great list! My list of favorite guitarists: Jimi Hendrix, SRV, Jimmy Page, Duane Allman, Johnny Winter, David Gilmour, Rory Gallagher, Gary Moore, Peter Green, Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, Robin Trower, Buddy Guy, John Cipollina, and Danny Kirwan.

You’re right. There are a lot of great guitarists out there and if you’ve never heard of Joe Bonamassa, I’d like to see if you would discover him. He is not mainstream and is one of those very successful musician that doesn’t go through the channels that put him in the spotlight. Joe is also a blues rocker who grew up following Eric Clapton, BB Kong and this man right here, SRV. As a teenager Joe even donned a hat to emulate Stevie. Joe has gone through so many changes and just to start you off on one song to view would be “ Just Got Paid live at the Royal Albert Hall”. He also collaborates with other artists and the one he Is awesome with is a fantastic singer by the name of Beth Hart. Give him a chance and see what you think.
