i have always been surrounded by talented illustrators as my friends. they can draw anime characters and portraits beautifully. however, when I try to draw characters they look very stiff. figure drawing isn't my worst or best subject, but creating anime/cartoon characters that are the main subject of an illustration is not intuitive to me. despite this struggle I've gotten a national award for environment paintings that I did. so im good at and i enjoy painting environments. I think my art goals are to really dive into my environment painting and master it digitally, while simultaneously creating a simplified, graphic anime style that I can use to fill my environmental paintings. ❤ cheers
@@isabellal2840 Wishing you all the best with your creative pursuits. And please know, just because something isn't "intuitive" that doesn't mean you can't get good at or even master it. Learning how to paint came much easier to me than drawing (esp. drawing from imagination). I could've decided that that's good enough for me. But it wasn't. I wanted to be able to draw whatever. I did end up getting there, but it wasn't in a day, month, or year. It took very dedicated focus, driven by intense love for the thing.I'm so happy I didn't give up on my desire. I'm sharing this to let you know, that if you want to be able to "do it all", it's possible, regardless of what comes easy to you. If you decide that's what you want to do, too, consider getting some help. I have a mentoring program which might work for you. Let me know if you'd like to know more. Either way, I'm cheering you on!
the point about how you only started making art bc you saw beautiful art is SOOOO true
Thank for watching! Now I'm curious, what are your art goals?

„my joy for drawing just went poof!“ 😂 I liked that, and I remember those situations in life drawing breaks.
Right?! I'm not the only one, and neither are you.
Great thoughts and advice. My art goal is to say yes to any professional challenge outside my comfort zone.
Love that. Good luck stretching those wings!!!
