Twenty weeks of perfect keto eating tracked on a tracker (never cheated once!) yielded just a 7 lb loss. 😭 I guess at age 66 being happy with at least feeling better on keto might have to be good enough. As always, Becky, you are helpful and informative. Thank you!
Keto not a magic bullet but adding intermittent fasting turbocharges it for me. Still, my cholesterol panel and other health markers are WAY better after 2 years. Total wt loss is @ 60# over 2 years. I eat grass Fed beef, lots of salad, vegetables and only olive, coconut and Avacado oils.
Thank you. Yes, I believe you. I used 16/8 intermittent fasting and stayed under 1,000 calories and 20 carbs last year and lost 40 lbs. This was despite 8 months of 24/7 pain and being unable to even walk some days. I had back surgery in September and have maintained my weight loss. @@powerliftingpremedcrafter473
Losing 40+ pounds in 2 years and year 3 haven't lost anything, but maintaining my weight. I know the medication I am taking is the culprit. Thanks for the video!
If you have an under active thyroid and are on thyroid meds, you can help this by taking 200mg of selenium daily and getting some type of iodine supplement as well as 300mg-600 mg of chelate magnesium daily. I did this and the thyroid started working better and the weight dropped. It took 3 months to normalize deficient nutrients. Do your research or see a nutritionist or Functional medicine doctor.
Yet it is very abbreviated. If you want to have fun, type the phrase '93 different names for sugar' into Google sometime. It's almost impossible to totally eliminate the stuff.
@@arlenqueencarmen1856 I haven't been exercising either...its officially a month today...I'm going to start exercising as well and hopefully see a change soon
I've been on IF and low carb life style for about 3 months, I've never weighed himself, but l've see the weight loss in my body and clothes are fitting a lot looser. This is really what you should care about in the end.
I think something is wrong. If I eat any carbs at all my weight increases. Today I am not going to eat any fruit only meat and vegetables and see if that works. It is so frustrating
Thank you for another good video. some is us need this encouragement to keep on track. Age, health and medicine has made my progress slow. Your videos and the 2 doc videos have helped so very much. Down 55 pounds in 11 months, I have learned not to pay attention to others losses and just happy with my progress
ACTOS. I gained 120 lbs, suffered extreme muscle weakness and was diagnosed with COPD for breathing problems. When I stopped ACTOS I could breath, with only occassional asthma puffs, legs became less rubbery so I could walk a bit more, and lost 60 lbs. But I'm stuck now. I wonder if ACTOS causes permanent damage? It ruined my life and career and maybe is continuing.
Wow, Dr. Becky! My husband takes three of the medications you mention. He has been gaining weight even though he eats healthy and keeps active. When I told him about the side effects being weight gain he was very upset. He said he'll have to do Keto and I.F. to get off his medications. I agree! I have been on Keto for 3 months and have lost almost 18 pounds, and I have serious issues with my Thyroid.
Me too! This year my doctor doubled my thyroid meds and increased my blood pressure meds by 50 percent. And on top of that, I had my gallbladder removed 10 years ago. It's slow going. But it helps to do IF.
Thank you Dr Becky for all your videos-I absolutely love them and learn a lot from them!!!...Is there any chance you can do a video on water retention, what can cause it (apart from salty food) and what to do to avoid getting it :) Thank you!!!
I have recently have had surgery for distal bicep tendon rupture. I haven't changed my diet but have decreased my cardio. I have been getting a lot more sleep. I have lost 5 pounds in the last 2 weeks.
Thank you Dr Becky for this video. 👍. I pretty much buy only organic whole foods. I stick to berries pretty much, the odd “more green” banana. I do resistance training. I think I will go back to fasting between 18 & 20 hours rather than doing “OMAD”. I have been having digestive issues lately. Plus I am going to start “slowly” eating more fermented foods. I don’t take medications of any kind. 🙂 (trying different eating windows again). I have 20 lbs more to lose- (I already lost 24 lbs) All my blood work came back good. ** however I started DRY brushing a few weeks ago. I go rashes on my lower back & tummy area. I gotta drink more water to flush out any toxins.
I've only lost 2 pounds in the last 2 weeks and have been doing really good on eating until I saw the chart of hidden sugars. When I did low carb when I was young the pounds would melt off even without much exercise but now that I'm 50 it's taking its sweet time coming off
You need to determine what is your body type and if your thyroid works properly ( it controls a lot of aspects in your body, including metabolism) and then eating the right food for your body type. It’s important to figure out if you’re gluten intolerant too because gluten most often causes bloating and stomachaches after eating a tiny amount of this type of food (bread, pasta). It’s important to avoid sugar at all cost and eat 1500 kcal a day in the beginning then you can reduce it to 1200kcal ( this applies to women, 2000 kcal for men). Eating a lot of healthy fatty foods and calories a day is important in order to loose weight, otherwise the metabolic system shuts down as our bodies are extremely smart and in the beginning of the process the system fights not to loose any weight, therefore I recommend to give it good 6 months, assuming you loose weight in a healthy way (1,5 kg- 2 kg a month, no more than that). Eating 2-3 meals a day in the beginning in the short feeding windows of 8hrs and then reducing it to 6 or even 4 hrs over the time is the next important factor to loose and maintain yii or yr desired weight.
For me, I think the lack of results is caused by this stuff: sleep quality could be improved..i am going to buy better pillows and try to get to bed earlier. I cant stop the early morning barking chihuahuas (security dogs). Anyway, good sleep is important to keep hormones balanced. I do use nasal spray so i am not sure how that impacts my weight. Anyway, i also need to reduce my stress and then yes, limit my refined carbs and sugar/insulin spiking binge eating/ food therapy. It is a cycle really. I have to fix my life. Now, i do like your comment ab lifting weights. So it is more ab what you look like than what you weigh. I guess all that muscle is why I didnt lose weight! Lol um, I guess I look slightly more muscular, but, after i see myself i tend to have the same reaction , which is... I shake my head and walk away. LOL I will continue with more activity and stick with the dumbell workouts and better quality foods. Not sure what else i can do here. Not sure how people get that lean, shredded look, but my goal is just the more vertical stomach, not rounded. Guess i need a coach.
i think i destroyed my metabolism after i lost 22lbs in a month from starving myself :( now i think my bmr is way lower than another person that's my size
Thanks again Dr becky fasting worked for me for stubborn weight loss but you have to go very long periods of not eating anything healthy food or not let your body get into it's own fat reserves this takes 3 to 5 days of not eating anything just my opinion that helped me lose extra pounds and control blood sugar and blood pressure
Thanks for the info! I do some fasting here and there but it's only every other day and I skip maybe one meal and the pounds just won't come off even when I'm watching my carbs extremely close. I definitely will try extending the fast. Thing is I can't do it too much because food is energy and without it I start getting sleepy all the time
Instead of a plain egg, is it okay to eat a homemade deviled egg that is made mostly with Dijon mustard? I'm trying to increase my fasting from 12 hours to 16 hours but I have difficulty getting over the 12 hour mark.
My weight loss has been a slow grind using Keto and 18/6 IF. If my thryroid is not functioning properly, you mention that iodine is a necessary factor for proper thyroid function. I am highly allergic to iodine ( went into shock from contrast dye during a CAT scan even after two days of premedication) . Will this allergy always prevent meaningful weight loss?
hardly lose 2kg a month , no matter what I do and it is like it will be stuck on a weight for a week or more then overnight I lose half pound. So the frustration of weight getting stuck is demotivating . I lost 6 kgs but hardly lost any breast size which I really need to . I’m short and big boobs look ugly
While they can be used as a transition, I recommend working toward weaning yourself off of them. I have videos that go into why: ruclips.net/video/PBTeqz0F1hQ/видео.html

Do you exercise? If yes, you're weight does not change due to muscle gain but since you feel loose on your clothes that means you're loosing body fat
