- Hello everyone! Here's the long awaited enamel pins tutorial - I get a lot of questions about how I make my pins, so here's how I do it & lots of tips for making sure they come out great!
Here's where I get all my pins made:
Canadian link: custompins.ca bit.ly/3WTzR7i
Main company: GS-JJ bit.ly/3GjVlmU
Backing Cards: VistaPrint www.vistaprint.com/business-c...
You can grab my new patches and pins on my shop: shopjelarts.com/
I package my enamel pins with a glassine bag or a cellobag (glassine is more eco-friendly since it's essentially just paper!)

If you want to make some beautiful enamel pins with gs-jj, here's my link! bit.ly/3GjVlmU
THANK YOU for being transparent about your manufacturer. so many artists are gatekeepey about this.
Dude I've been scouring for HOURS trying to figure out what the best use. I read comments while the ads run and seen yours and I will fully watch this video 👍 she already seems great
She got paid by the Company to give this info!
How do you design the pins
@@katerilevasseur8119yes it was sponsored by them! But, I've used their services for years for all my enamel pins before they ever sponsored me, so I can recommend them for sure!!
Thank you JelArts for taking your time to give an honest, and professional analysis of GS-JJ, and your experience with them, and Vista Prints.
It is nice to know a company like GS-JJ has so many product services, and that service is worth using.
Time is a precious commodity; especially when freelancing. So being able to rely on someone like yourself, is very much appreciated.
My best.😊
It's always a good day when you get a notification that Jelarts uploaded a new video (:
Oh no. I already have a couple pins from you but that fox is soooo cuuuute! Time to check out your store again...
Hahaha
It’s cool that enamel pins are becoming popular again 😊
It really is!
They’ve always been popular 😭
Plenty of helpful tips. Thank you for sharing and your time.
This was super helpful!! Love your art and commentary!! ❤❤❤
I just instantly wanted to start off with 1.75 with 7+ colours and screen printing because it fit my design and honestly it was the right decision. They look beautiful and I'm glad I was confident with that. I forgot to put my name on the engraving and the backing card but marker can solve that for now
Also I quality checked them and I was shocked to find literally every single one was pristine
I have been “ collecting “ for around a year , planning to officially start !
I have some pins on my bag and I’m in LOVE with them !
you can actually make homemade enamel pins, however it does take a lot more time. one method is acid etching with something like ferric chloride or a muriatic acid / hydrogen peroxide mix and then hand painting and soldering the pin tack
theres also electro etching
Glad this video popped up on my feed
Thank-you do much for this video. I’ll be working on an order today!
Great video! I love the tips
Gosh These look so pretty
This is fantastic info and I really appreciate it 😊 I’m planning to make one too but no idea where to start and love to support Canadian company ( I live in Canada so this is perfect!!!!) thank you and have a good day😊
Amazing video with great content!
This is so helpful!! Love
I'm happy to hear that! :)
omg thank you! :D
i was just looking into learning about enamel pins!
What great timing!
This video helps out a BUNCH thank you so much, just a really quick question though, would they charge extra for a back stamp on the enamel pin :]? I'm definitely gonna go to them for my Kickstarter pins
Thats awesome, i like yoir designs. What program are you using to draw them on? And are you using a digital pen and pad?
this was a very informative video!! would you have to draw your art on a small canvas such as 2x2 inches or smaller bc your pin is small?
I kinda jumped right into wanting to design pins n there’s so many things to consider that I would have never thought of. Also design wise what do u do differently for patches? When creating a pin design do u create the image as high resolution as u can n then put together a order info sheet? Im tryin to figure out the entire process
Amazing 😊
Thanks!
THANK YOU!!
No problem!
Do you use a digital Pantone book so you can give the correct colours? Or do you own one. Because they’re not quite affordable.. or do you think a hex-tone/hex is good enough?
do you get the mold too or do they store em in case you want to make more?
Do you have an "invitation code" to the manufacturer you've linked? I'm not sure if that benefits you but if it does I will sign up using it :) since you helped us all out
I want to make enamel pins, but Im scared i wouldn make any money off therm, maybe make a kickstarter for them would work
aww that dino is really cute!
What are you using to draw your designs
Are you sending a vector image to the manufacturer or a normal image?
What app do you use to draw your pins on?
💜
Hi, I was wondering how are you able to find pin collector accounts on social media if you're just starting out?
Any tips for someone just looking to order 3-5 pins? I've been dying to grab some custom ones of my characters for my friends and I, but every manufacturer I find either has a minimum quantity or a minimum charge that's out of my price range. Is buying on a small scale a viable option or do I just need to make pins from scratch? If it helps I've been wanting to make about 5-10 different designs and purchase around 4 of each. One for me, one for my friend, and two extras incase the first ones break or go missing. Thanks in advance!
The mould process is so expensive for manus so I doubt you can get an affordable rate for less than 10qty. I think your best best bet would be to get acrylic pins made
Thank you for this video! So helpful!!! Do you happen to know a manufacturer for enamel necklace charms? Haven't found any recommendations around. Thank you again!
You might be able to inquire from this company if they can custom make something like that for you!
Vivipins will put a charm loop on them
Where did you get the hard edge brush or was that something you made?
There should be one in the procreate default brushes!
If you have a pin reprinted at a later date, do they charge you for the mold again?
That's a good question! They hold onto your mold for a while so you shouldn't be charged if you order within a certain time frame
@@JelArts cool! Thank you
Do you need a supplier?
What file type do you use to send your artwork?
I just send a .jpg since I've had good results with them vectorizing everything themselves! Some artists send vector files or illustrator files to have complete control over the lines.
Do you use anything else after creating the design in procreate?
Some people like to vectorize their designs but I just send them the JPG, personally! It might depend on the manufacturer.
Hello! How do you/where do you make your art prints?
I used to use Mixam print until their prices kept rising, so now I use a local Canadian printer called The Printing House! I also sometimes print from home.
Hi. What brush do you suggest on procreate to use
The maxpack brushes are my favourite! There's tons to choose from and they all feel great to paint with.
What do you use to design and draw up your art work?
I use procreate!
I have a question: If I have multiple designs for enamel pins, can I order those designs under one order or I have to make different orders in small quantities for each design?
You should be fine under one order!
How much is each one?
How much is it?
I want to start selling enemal pins but I don’t have a audience, are there any cheaper options out there?
I don't think so since it's hard to get around the mold charge! You could try to slowly build an audience and sell stickers/prints for now until you have enough eyes for pins. Some artists also do kickstarter drops and get a lot of new eyes on their products that way (like pins, plushies, books, etc!). Stickers are easy to start with since you just need a colour printer, sticker paper, and scissors!
@@JelArts thank you
I wish I could make just one singular pin without having to spend $99.. It's not for reselling it's just for me qq
Yeah, the problem is that they have to make a custom mold of your design, which is an expensive process.
You have great information, but all the flashing and moving images on the video are hard to watch over and over. Thanks for the info!
Uhuu
you should rename your video "how to order Pins from internet".
Lol this is how to order, not how to make yourself lmaooo
The video goes over so much important info on top of the ordering process... Are we to assume people have metal and machines to manufacture the pins too?
@@biggerweff so why she put how to make? Are u expecting how to order from how to make statement lmao. Go to school kid
@@kuchikibyakuya7697 not sure where the confusion or hostility is coming from, the video goes over what's necessary to make an enamel pin and outlines the process of designing and submitting for manufacturing. Sorry if you didn't understand!
@kuchikibyakuya7697 considering your grammar, I'd assume that *you* are the kid
You can make your own enamel at home I do it.
Really?? What's your process like?
