Taka has so much self control lmao. It probably took all he had to not burst when Pete told them that he wants to play shows with them when they go to the US and when they told Taka that they know when his birthday is. hahaha
Taka actually does speak and understand English because he is getting classes. Just that sometimes in Japanese entertainment, it is sort of important and a must for them to speak in Japanese rather than in another language.
I'm guessing Taka prefers to speak Japanese because, even if he can speak English at a conversational level, it's always easier to fully express your ideas in the language with which you feel most comfortable. I've heard him speak in English before, such as in an interview with Simple Plan - he would answer questions in Japanese, but occasionally he would say something to Simple Plan like "And I was so nervous, right?" I think he can speak English at least to a conversational level, but 1) he may feel a bit shy/awkward about it, and 2) he might not be able to totally express what he wants to say.
At this point of time, Taka is great at speaking english. Just an update for the year 2022. Totally amazing guy and his voice has gotten superior level too.

I was wondering about that too. Maybe they could be Japanese American? I know my grandfather was like that, nisei and native English speaking like everyone else in that state, but flawless Japanese. Whereas my grandmother's Japanese born in Japan and has very good English, but she still has a very thick Asian accent despite living here since the 50s.

I cannot fully express how happy this interview makes me. Seeing One Ok Rock meeting one of their favourite bands who I also really like is just amazing, and they appear mostly calm and cool about it. It's just crazy and awesome to see! I'm so happy for them, and I really do hope One Ok Rock does come to the states sometime since that will give me a chance to see them even though I live in Canada :D!
They only have one show in the UK this year and it's a very small venue in comparison to some of the other shows they've done. Sad that I didn't know about it sooner :'(
He speaks english, but since the interview is in Japanese he pays more attention to the fans than the band they got in front. There is a translator for Fall out boy, so there is no need for him to speak in english.
That performing together on the same stage will actually be happening on the upcoming Arena Tour and im happy that ONE OK ROCK will finally perform with their favorite band.
