I’m running those Nexen Winguard 2 tires on my E36 M3. They’re awesome, especially for the price. I can still have fun in the dry, they’re great in snow, and they really are super quiet and comfortable.
The best overall winter tire I've always tried sticking with is the Hankook i-Pike. For being a pretty affordable tire for studded snows, they are soft enough to grip good on take offs (especially if you get em super sipe'd after), tread still remains ≥90% after a couple years no problemo (ran even on almost bare pavement end of fall and start of spring, from [Alaska's 'Studded Tire' Season] September 1st - April 1st each year) , and they're easy to find up here. I do gotta say that they're at their best on Mid-size cars and trucks, and when you try to run a lo-pro on 18"s or more, they start to be less effective. I always got em for my Honder's, and even a couple trucks, and they don't let me down. I'm a self-proclaimed 'Mat-Su Valley Mobber', and a bit of a tuner boy; 'cuz, VTEC, Yo... I've ran 'em almost each winter since I got my license back around 2005/6, and I've noticed they start to lose optimal efficiency on vehicles that are too light (my old '89 CRX b18 Si, which was the smallest car I've ever owned), or too heavy (my old '99 Chevy 3/4 ton diesel... which was a shit box, and the only vehicle I have ever owned that ran on Satan's fuel...) So this summer, when I bought a brand new set of some matte Bronze Niche rims 'n rubbers, I, like most Alaskans, kept my old stock Steelies for my snows, on my 2007 Honder Accord EX-L V6 6MT (sedan... sadly...), Plus, that makes for an easier swap I can do myself in the garage. Except this winter, I kept my summer 18's on the back, for E-Breakin' all around town at maximum slide-age, because I still rip that around everywhere I can, because I still act like a dumb teenager when the snow hits....I can't help it, alright? Hancook Icept evo2 is trash, does good on dry roads, but any ice it’s ass. But then again I got a rwd sports car with 275’s on lol 😂😂😂😂
Hankook i-Pike's are my jam. Cheap enough for studded snows, but really only optimized on a midsize car that's not running a lo-pro tire
@@jaydub5515 ipikes are great tires I agree, but the studless hankooks line are probably the worst winter tire I’ve used, definitely useable, but more so a cold weather/light snow tire.
@@ThatBustedVQ Where about's are you located? Milder winters? Honestly, the iPikes are the only 'kooks I've ever used, so I don't know any of their other rubbers, personally. What's wrong with the evo2's? Too stiff?
@@jaydub5515 I’m in interior Alaska. I definitely prefer studs over anything. I hear nokian hakkapeliitta are the best studded tires. I’ve used general Altimax studs and blizzacks WS all have been good. The hancook icept 2 are too stiff, part of the problem could be I’m running 275 wide tires and 19s. So that could be a big factor for ice. My friend 350z which is basically the same car as my G35, has 235 wide, all season Bridgestones. They are way softer than my winters (both brand new tires), he can redline the rpm and not spin, I spin even without too much ice, so I stay under 4K. Driving in Fairbanks is a nightmare for me so I just stay in my small town.
