COC has spent the past few months elevating the need for a / blacktechagenda and how Congress can create tech policies with a racial justice framework. Now it is time to put feet to the pavement.
Today we introduce to you the / coctechscorecard , an assessment to measure key members of Congress’ progress towards advancing tech policy that protects Black communities.
How does it work? The Scorecard identifies legislation and policies for each of the six pillars of the / blacktechagenda that Congress should advance to address Big Tech’s outsized power and explicitly names racial justice equities. Then we evaluated if members of Congress on committees that regulate tech supported these bills and policies.
As a refresher, those 6 pillars are: Advancing Antitrust Enforcement, Protecting Privacy, Preventing Algorithmic Discrimination, Supporting Net Neutrality, Expanding Broadband Access & Addressing the Disinformation and Misinformation Crisis.
Black communities need Congress to regulate / bigtech and The / blacktechagenda and / coctechscorecard are the way forward!
