You can select in piano roll using control(command) + A, which select per bar, if what you're selecting is within 2 bars it will select those bars, then ctrl(cmd) + B to duplicate. In Playlist or arrangement or pianoroll you could select specific section by ctrl(cmd) + enter, after that you could use ctrl + left to select previous or ctrl + right key to selct next section. You could even select selected source in playlist by pressing shift + c, then ctrl + enter to select everything on that section or bar(s).
Using one shots is a great way to add unique sounds to your melody. You will have more variety in your sound and you won't have to keep going back to the same sounds.

His way of making melodies made me go back and watch how people made beats using soundfonts and the new FL studio soundfont player. his style reminds me of sound fonts. So now Im inspired to look up some sondfonts and use the soundfont player. to make beats with. Cause it is similar to sound fonts the one-shot sounds.

Melody From an African producer perspective, this includes tuning congas, percs to create unique sounds. Adding a tone of reverb and make them sound lofi ishhh lol. Throw AFRO drums on it. Boom a unique wizkid beat
Ableton is a fast platform for putting together a beat on the fly, either using midi tracks or placing samples on to tracks. But hot shopping the sounds on midi is so easy if you get to a point where you don't think what you have is working.
