Great point about bringing in the "gateway" bands who have a media frenzy behind them. I think of Lars Frederiksen. I never liked Rancid or Green Day because I saw them as too corporate, but Lars has actually done amazing work by joining the Last Resort, Stomper 98 etc., and bringing that huge exposure to grass roots homegrown oi. I agree with what they say about this.
I guess I just always saw them that way, but I stand corrected if they were more independent. I just never really paid them much attention I guess. Everything has its place for sure.@@thepunkrockreview
Thanks for the killer interview. Tommy is a great, eloquent speaker, who actually has something interesting to say. I tried contacting Slugger about playing the 3 day Have a Good Laugh Festival here in Vancouver for 2025, but didn't hear back; the lineup is full for 2024. If anyone knows a way to contact them, it would be good to know. Cheers.
Are these guys from Shasta County? I have heard them mention "North State" in their lyrics, and they have a song called Johnson Park and then he mentions living right next to Oregon. Just wondering because I live in Shasta County and didn't know there were any bands around here.
I just keep finding absolute gold on this channel! Please keep making this great content and doing these awesome interviews with these kind of bands.
I ain't eva gonna stop!!!
I love Slugger fucking bringing Oi! back
Yeah they're a great band for sure, Tommy was awesome

Saying Rancid is corporate is pretty weird... lol

Yeah he is super cool, dude rules and Slugger rules! I got a hold of him via IG btw
Great interview. Slugger is one of the best bands going, I can’t wait for an lp.
Thank you! And yeah, Slugger is awesome! They put on a great show down here in Houston a cpl months back
If you got attacked by ninjas.... you'd want Turtle Rage with you of course.
No mention of Zerox Records HC
Screw Spotify. Bandcamp is so much better.
I mean, they both serve a purpose.

Honestly, I'm not sure, but I think they're spread out a little
@thepunkrockreview he ended up saying Chico toward the end of the interview. That's sick. Not too far from me at all. Sick podcast, man!
