Many thanks for such an interesting presentation. So, from the way Mr. Magliari talks about it, Amtrak has decided to at least explore the possibility of a 16th Street Connector into Union Station. When he mentions "jumping onto the Rock Island", does he mean, as trains from downstate Illinois approach downtown Chicago, using the completed P4 at Grand Crossing to get onto the NS, moving through the 63rd Street (Park Manor) yard and connecting with the Rock Island around 61st Street or so? Also, will the expansion of the NS 47th Street Yard south of Garfield Blvd to 61st Street allow for a little more breathing room at the 63rd Street yard to make an Amtrak connection to the Rock Island easier? Also, if the 16th Street Connector comes to pass, would there any need to get onto the Rock Island at all? The current Illini/Saluki routing already utilizes the elevated tracks just north of 16th Street, which, I thought, were supposed to be part of the Connector.
Nice video . Why does Alaska need high speed rail ?
I don’t believe there’s any proposals but they are advocating for more regular passenger rail too.
Many thanks for such an interesting presentation.

I see you have Robert Caro on your shelf, I just got my copy. Looks like a good read.
Don't forget about bike storage at stations, should be just like cars🙂
