You are so good at hand sewing! Making that dress looked quick and easy! It is plain but in a very luxurious way. You let the quest for authenticity, the story, the beautiful wool fabric itself be the heroes of the piece! You look lovely, warm, and very capable wearing it, too.
I love wearing viking style dresses in everyday life. They are super comfortable, easy to sew and you can always decorate them with small beautiful details (buttons, tapes, embroidery etc.). Goog job, Kristine!
LOVE EVERY ASPECT... the wool. The history. The stories, the demonstrating. Felt I was there with you : ) thank you so much! I am going to look up your wool hat/hood/caplet. Love that also... especially off center
@@KristineVikeYes...seems perfect : ) I normally sew Revolutionary War clothing....a little : ) I am definitely going to make one of those hoods : ) Think I will make one in linen first, then wool. I definitely want to make that Viking dress also.... the ultimate in comfort and utility : ) I watched more of your great videos and other reenactors also. Thank you again. Subscribed.... looking forward to more : ) Sheila
This was so interesting to watch! I live in the US but I am of Viking decent and am in the process of learning more about where my ancestors came from. I also find that making my own garments and accessories very enjoyable. Thanks for the knowledge and the visual and audio beauty.
I love rewatching your videos because they’re so calming and gently inspiring, and a year later I’m still just so impressed with how beautiful and thoughtful everything is ✨💕 Thank you for making and sharing this content!
beautiful work, as always, Kristine. The simplicity of the garment really showcases the special, subtle fabric. What a cherished piece to have in your wardrobe!
Such an amazing amount of work and it turned out so beautifully. Well done! The wool fabric is stunning and the simplicity of the design makes it shine!
Oh my gosh, I am drooling over the fabric and the final outfit!! I am late to the game of finding your channel and am catching up on all of your beautiful videos. Thank you for sharing your work!!
That is the question, isn't it? Judging by their metalwork they could make some really, really detailed stuff, even if we haven't found any really fine needles so far. But if they existed, I imagine they would have been out of reach for most people cost-wise.
Thank you! I love bone for needlebinding. They can be so smooths! We have a craftsman who attends many of the summer markets who is a true expert with bone and he makes the most beautiful things!
Hi I loved the peaceful experience of watching you sew these wonderfully appropriate fabrics - thank you for listing. I loved the dress but also I loved your headpiece and hunted your videos to see if you had youtubed a making of these caps but I could not find one. I then did an internet search trying to find out exactly how they looked/how they were made but I didn't have much success. Do you know of any online resources or can I temp you into making and posting a RUclips video on the subject. Many thanks. Regards, Chris in Australia :)
really cool fabric! also good work crafting this without easy access to references! i really wish it would be more normal to just wear traditional clothing casually
Fin video.
Ew a stink bug. They are everywhere! Is there a pattern or did you figure it out from experience? That beautiful cloth would scare me without a pattern. Even then I would be scared to cut it.

I have that style of needle! Absolutely love it! And it actually is easy to resharpen if it starts getting dull!
Yeah, it is no problem at all, and works really well with wool. 😊
The fabric is beautiful. I love that it was made entirely locally.
Thank you! I try when I can.

This is one of my favorite videos on RUclips. Your Art is magnificent.
That is high praise indeed, thank you.
beautiful work, as always, Kristine. The simplicity of the garment really showcases the special, subtle fabric. What a cherished piece to have in your wardrobe!
Thank you! I look forward to using it lots! 🥰
Reminds me of putting together my Renaissance Faire costume 25 (plus) years ago. I love the hood, too.
Wooooow! How cool is that fabric! Incredible! And thanks for the tip on the gores. I always struggle with those.
I knooow, I love it so much! And I hope gores are more compliant for you in the future now. 😊
Such an amazing amount of work and it turned out so beautifully. Well done! The wool fabric is stunning and the simplicity of the design makes it shine!
Thank you! I love it quite a bit, and the soft remaining scent of sheep is so lovely.

Die schwarze Kanne mit dem metallischen Rauten-Muster gab es dieses Jahr auch in Haitabu auf dem Sommer-Markt ❤
Oh my gosh, I am drooling over the fabric and the final outfit!! I am late to the game of finding your channel and am catching up on all of your beautiful videos. Thank you for sharing your work!!

You're so cute! I can totally understand your excitement about that fabric 💖
It is such an amazing fabric!! 😁😁😁
Just watched again.... love this : )) very inspiring.
Thank you, I am glad you enjoyed it! 😊
This was the first time I have seen an ancient-style needle being used. I wonder how fine and small they could have been made at the time.
That is the question, isn't it? Judging by their metalwork they could make some really, really detailed stuff, even if we haven't found any really fine needles so far. But if they existed, I imagine they would have been out of reach for most people cost-wise.
Your dress turned out beautifully! Your stitches are so tiny and even!
Thank you! I am quite happy with it. 😊
What lovely work! It's always a delight to watch your videos. Thank you for sharing your craft!
I am so glad you enjoyed it! :D
Congratulations on getting your hands on that wonderful fabric! And congratulations on finishing the dress. It looks so cozy...
Thank you! It is very cozy, I wore it a lot at the market as soon as it was finished. :D
Such a beautiful wool, it gives your dress lovely movement! It looks like a fun event!
Thank you! They are a lot of fun. But mostly because you go with and meet up with friends. 🥰
Very beautiful and detailed. I would have loved to see your scizzes and how to take measurements too.
beautiful work, both the sewing and the video demonstration.

It was such a dream! And with a lovely slight earthy smell of the sheep still lefover. ❤️
Beautiful! Thank you for posting.
Thank you, glad you liked it.
Such a pretty fabric! Looked like a very fun project!
Thank you! It was a very lovely project. 🥰
i need to find some bone needles. I have some bronze and iron ones and those need to be smoothed alot before I can use them. Your dress looks great!
Thank you! I love bone for needlebinding. They can be so smooths! We have a craftsman who attends many of the summer markets who is a true expert with bone and he makes the most beautiful things!

It is called a St. Birgitta’s cap, from the nun (I think) on whom it was found. :)
What's that cool decorative herringbone stitching on your dark brown smokkr? Also, wonderful video :)
Hello, thoroughly enjoyed watching this. Is it possible to purchase this fabric?
really cool fabric! also good work crafting this without easy access to references! i really wish it would be more normal to just wear traditional clothing casually
Very cool, but now I'm worried about my hems around the fire.

Det blev lækker. Sikke noget vildt flot stof, og skøn historie bag. Hvor har du købt den stof ?
Denne ble kjøpt fra raffina.no og spunnet og vevet i Norge, som jeg synes er veldig flott! ❤️
❤❤
Where did you find the bronze needle? 😄
Ew a stink bug. They are everywhere! Is there a pattern or did you figure it out from experience? That beautiful cloth would scare me without a pattern. Even then I would be scared to cut it.
remind me the smurfs, when human middle age characters appeared in the show.
Do you do Nålbinding?
I do know a handful of stitches. :)
Var kan man köpa tyget? :)
Jeg kjøpte mitt på raffina.no. Det kan også kjøpes direkte fra Krivi Vev som sto for vevingen (krivivev.no), der heter den VikingGull. :)
