that was awesome! I remember John Peel playing Present songs while I was knocking my first house about, and you became a regular purchase of vinyl for me...but I have to admit my interest wavered a bit, I didn't buy Seamonsters. But during lockdown I found you here playing my favourites of mine and loads that were new to me, so, eBay has now increased my Weddo collection, new T shirts to parade in, and a huge surge of your songs back in my playlists.. I can't believe I've missed so many great tunes... please come to Norwich again soon...
All those years ago this is the song that got me into TWP. A lot of years later me and a few mates are still following them around the country going to gigs. My favourite band. Love them. Beautiful
I think that in the song the man is ending the relationship and walking out. He's giving his door key to the woman saying "there's the door" (that I'm going to walk out through). I agree that it is confusing because it sounds like he's showing her the door and kicking her out, but that wouldn't make any sense since he just gave her the key. I think Gedge wrote it this way for the rhyme and the rhythm of the words, not because it makes the most intuitive sense. Just my guess.
These stripped back versions really bring out the lyrical beauty of the songs. Like fine wine, they've aged well.
Little something in my eye, seeing Peter Solowka back with the Weddoes...
Grapper you legend. 😎👊
Lovely to see Peter playing along with David again.
Yeah... it warms the heart
It's great to see Peter.
"Right, cheers Pete, you're laid off again "- Said the inheritor of Mark E Smith's crown.
Excellent duet with lovely Amelia and Peter playing the accordion. Love it.
Grapper is back in the office and back in the groove! A welcome sight
I'd loved this song since 88 - it's so uplifting!

Ooooooooo OK and take it Away grapper!!!
Ledge.
One thing that always concerned me about this song is why does he need to offer her the key? Had he locked her in?

Can't say i ever noticed the incongruity of this before. But now you mention it...
This takes away the angry young fucked over man element to the song. Nice version though.
😂😂👍🏻
Brilliant !!!
