Yeah totally agree, I don’t think it’s healthy to teach your kid’s to compete with their other parent. Setting boundaries helps children feel safe and if all 3 of them were cuddling on the couch it would have been sweet and a nice family bonding, showing their child that they love each other and their child, which then teaches them about healthy relationship role modelling.
This is just common sense to you and me. But people who are intent on raising their children this way are very misguided, they need to be aware of Freud's psychosexual stages of development.

Every girl wants and needs a daddy that loves her like this. I remember seeing my young daughter watching friends and strangers playing and being loved and doted on by their daddies while the look of desperate desire showed in her eyes. It was literally heartbreaking. I tried getting friends or trusted church friends to be a mentor or role model to her that would be willing to go on outings with his own kids and include her just so she could know a small piece of that. Unfortunately, nobody was willing to help her and she grew up searching for a man who would love her. Girls need strong, loving fathers. Not men who promise to be present for them and then change their minds after seeing it takes work and sacrificing your time for them. This is a great daddy.
You should never allow a child to do this no matter how cute you think it is. This teaches them that they are in charge. As they age, the defiant behavior will just get worse. She is testing boundaries at this age and if you don’t set them now it will be extremely hard to set them in the future. Teach her now how a man should treat his wife.
