I don't understand why BMW doesn't try to facilitate access to such an important maintenance item. The only explanation can only be the maintenance of dependence on simple (and expensive) services only being carried out by the concessionary network. I have a K1600 GTL 2016..., excellent motorcycle, I love doing periodic maintenance myself, but I always find it difficult to access some items, like the one in the video...,, replacing the air filter. I thank the author of the video for providing such accurate and important information. Big hug.
My versys 650 you have to drain and remove the gas tank to get at the filter. I'd rather do these little fairings. There's a lot of them but they don't look too finicky
Compared to my Honda GL1800 Goldwing, this air cleaner replacement is so simple! The Goldwing takes a lot longer time. Why didn't you clean the parts before re-assembly? That would be a true professional job.
More bolts are require to be removed on mine to to get what you call the red panels off. Got filter out but not in the way you suggested. Changed filter once before and was a lot more work.Helpful but, not fully. 2018 GTL
I swapped out my air filter watching your video and it was a piece of cake! Only difference is I dropped a K&N filter in place of stock. Suggestion for future video: Show how to remove K1600 GT or GTL handlebars enough to install bar risers. It’s tricky and I haven’t figured it out yet.
Nice job on the K1600 b air-filter video. Question: wouldn’t you want to use a airfilter grease on instal to seal the filter to the box? I am impressed by your video. Thx Michael
Hi and thanks for your videos on the K1600. I have a 2022 UK version and when trying to remove the top panels as you have shown it wont come off. The very top one does, but not the bigger panel. I think there is a screw attaching the panel to the side fairing which I can see further along. Do you know if this is the case as I don't want to have to remove the side panel just to get at the screw. Many thanks Peter
How do I ask a general question, not related to a video? 1 - is the info section on the 2011 F800GS dash configurable? (the temp and fuel level are reversed from my other BMWs. highly annoying 2 - what are the chances of repowering my 2007 R1200GS with a 2013+ engine, including the longer swingarm? Chances, not cost effectiveness....?
Hi, Unfortunately, I'm not even close to you so I can't bring my bike. I have a 2014 k1600 gtl, and I had a small crash about a year ago. Everything was fixed, except for the front wheel alignment. When the wheel or the bike is going straight, the handlebar is slightly turned to the right. The handles are fine, and the plate that supports the handles is fine too. What else can be twisted to have the handlebar, or the wheel misaligned? how can I straighten both?
Love the channel. Totally off the subject of the video but I bought some break lines from your parts website on June 23rd. Payment went through but no confirmation email, no shipping info, nothing. There is no way of contacting you on the website which is why I'm writing this in the comments. How can I get confirmation of purchase and shipping info? Thanks.
Hi. After replacing the pump and injectors, and cleaning the fuel injection system, the engine does not start. When I disconnect the tube from the pump - quick connector, the engine runs smoothly for several seconds (fuel pressure below 1 Bar). After reconnecting, it turns off (Fuel pressure 3.5-4Bar). The scanner shows no errors. I don't know what the cause is.

Engineers vs. Mechanics. This isn't bad compared to a goldwing...
The GS is so simple and this is so darn over complicated. Mines gonna stay dirty for a minute...
2018+ Honda GL1800 is MUCH worse than this... 😂 It's a nightmare...
Its pretty common on bikes with big fairings. Its really not that bad on the GTL actually.

Nice info, thanks!
Can’t believe you don’t clean up the parts though while working on it.
Excellent Explanation good service to Humanity and Riders Thanks
Thanks!
YOU ARE THE BEST!!! THANK YOU!
So calmly articulate
Just what I needed!!!! Thank you so very much!!!!

K&n sucks
Thank You, I would clean all panels also with same autopsy.
Parabéns pelo vídeo. Excelente para auxiliar na manutenção da minha K1600 GTL.

Thx! But why you don't cleaning all the dust ???😢
This is awesome thank you
No problem!
Excellent thankyou
merci, because my k1600 is quickly warm
After how many miles was this filter changed?
i think this filter had 18k miles on it
Yes! A little disassembly, but about 1% of what it takes for a Gold Wing!

Too much work for an air filter, thanks for your effort...
yes ricght , and changins the sparkplugs ...... even better
I prefer to reassemble by hand tool, too easy to strip a screw or crack a plastic panel.
That drill it set to a torque spec that won’t damage anything
Dirty Why u are not cleane up on every thing. On the bike before you install back
Very like pig farm .
