I feel the same i have yet to play as a mage in any game over 20 years of gaming. NEVER been a mage or healer
@@VulcanM61 I had the same mindset. But then I was like "I payed money foir this game, might as well tried everything it has to offer" on my new game plus 3 I did a mage build and oh boy is it fun as fuck.
I love playing as a spellblade, combine Melee with Magic to become the ultimate killing machine.
I played warrior first (so no shield)
And i was mindblown too when i played the prisoner.
It basically set difficulty from hard to easy

A seamless co-op mod would take this to new heights. Was just telling my roomate how lots of people wanted a co-op Skyrim but a solid system for Elden Ring would have been so much better. The blocked off areas, the dismissal after a boss kill and having to redo the remedy buff, not being able to rest or mount just feels bad. I'm OK being scaled down, I'm ok having my flask resources cut in half but it feels clunky and unintuitive as it is now. I understand as a dark souls and souls like fan myself that this is how its been, but being able to truly experience a seemless form of the game with my gf or roomate would make it feel so much better. I'd love to see a mode actually built in but a mod will definitely do as a start.

These bros have known eachother for roughly 6 years or even more. And their chemistry is fantastic, as a veteran of the Asmongold who started watching in WoD it still makes me smile see these two together.

As someone who played full int wizard, the main issues are - low mana, enemies blocking, enemies having pitch perfect dodging, and times when your magic simply isn't doing enough damage (either due to enemy level or they have magic resistance)
There are many areas where you shall walk as a god among mortals, but there are also plenty of areas where you will be humbled
Granted I didn't do coop, so McConnell might carry you through the tougher areas for wizards, while you breeze through the rest
THIS! I started as a mage when the game came out because a lot of people were saying it's easier (because this is my first souls-like game). I ended up dropping my int mage character, 30+ hours in, just to make another and do a faith/str build. It was easier, for me, though it would definitely test your ability to not panic dodge most of the time. I know I could have just respec my character, but I wanted to feel the melee combat right from the start.

Yea I was gonna say I swear he beat the game what’s this first time shenanigans.
As someone who mostly plays mages I have to say Mcconnel absolute nailed it to give Asmon the real "feel like a mage" feeling.
That perfect sticking to tactics ("why did you do that?")
The permanent berserk state "lets wait here" (the warrior runs further without any pause), or "pull just one" (the warrior attacks a whole group of monsters instead).
Oh and lets not forget the perfect roleplay at the worst time: "I don't believe in wearing armor". I mean yea, as a mage I also often think about not using spells, or mana potions, sure.
And then they ask why we have to vent our anger with some "small" AoE spells now and then, pulling half of the dungeon at once 😛
Also mages are glass cannons. Yes, you may kill many opponents with ease from far, but if your spells miss or if someone comes near you will usually die - even by a freaking goat.
Play with McConnell is like play with your little brother
I’m only a year late but McConnell is the real star here. I like that you have to tell him to chill every 10 seconds.

Wait you're saying mages struggle early game? The only thing I'd say is worse than playing melee is having to put 3 in your mana flask and only have 2 to put into health.

The invader was pointing down because he dropped you an item I thought he was taunting but he left something on the ground and then vanished in the bushes
You can cheat engine in items that you are not supposed to have, so picking things up might get him banned.

@@Stapler-san Regular items aren't the reason for getting banned. Items that you're not supposed to have, like, Fia's undergarments, or something like that, will in fact get you banned because you're not supposed to have them normally so having it in your inventory would flag you as a hacker.

There is a mod who can allow you to play with friends until the end of the game 😅 after killing the bosess they don't go in their world , and can even make quests together
So some people are circle jerking this notion that a "true co-op" mode would be better than the current system. Even though it's obvious these people are only saying that because they're too lazy or stupid to take advantage of the current system. Do they even understand what exactly it is they're trying to circle jerk here?
The cooperator gets reduced runes and he is easier to kill than the host is. All phantoms are easier to kill than the host. The cooperator loses nothing when he dies. So he's safe no matter which way this goes, as long as he does get some runes out of this. As long as the host doesn't die, you can summon your buddy in as much as you want, where ever you are and especially without RESTARTING the damn level.
Do they have any idea how much of this is going to be taken away from them if they make a "true coop" mod just because they're too lazy and fucked to take advantage of the current system? What if one of you dies? Are you really going to stick with it if the level restarts every time? And what about the risks tacked onto the cooperator? Who other than your group of friends is going to put their runes on the line for you? No more can you get rich off helping others cuz death is just a bad hit away.
And in world bosses, nothing is stopping you from summoning your buddy again. You're not trapped in a closed area with the boss out there.
Additionally, the zone doesn't restart if you are summoned. So you can either take turns progressing each other. Only the host (and the invaders) will lose runes if he dies. As long as the host lives, you can always put your summoning sign down where you died and come back fully refreshed.

Haven't got through the whole video yet so not sure if this ends up being discussed at all, but LukeYui is releasing a seamless co-op mod for Elden Ring. Goes into open beta on 5/27, and it removes all of the restrictions. No constant resummoning, torrent is enabled, no restrictions on accessible areas, etc., and no risk of being invaded.
i so badly wish from gave this game actual co-op but its just the same shitty summons as every other game they make :(
