@The Stick I cannot get into amo at all! I love their old stuff, and I’m loving the new album they brought out. But, for me amo, just is not my type of music. Mantra, isn’t bad, and I like I don’t know what to say. Other than that, yea, cannot get into it. Too, far over the pop line for me. I’m glad you like it though.
I don’t have kids, so I’m just going to be the 70 year old lady still listening to punk, emo and metalcore. Telling the kids, their music sucks. I’m in my 40’s now, and get told all the time I have the taste of a 13 year old when it comes to music. 🙄 I don’t even talk about music with people in my age group. But, hey that’s okay. I stopped listening to mainstream music around 12ish. I’ll never go back, 99% of it is awful. Turning on the radio makes my ears bleed, all pop music sounds the same. It’s bloody awful. IMO
More BMTH please! Their whole new EP is really cool. This song is about a Japanese superbug from last year, but they were conscious of releasing it during the pandemic. They’ve been around since 2004 and they’ve done everything from deathcore to experimental pop. I think you might like singles off Sempiternal like Shadow Moses and singles off That’s The Spirit like Throne!
Yay!!! Teardrops next!!! Edit: The lead singer, Oli, actually comes up with the music video concepts. He also directed and edited this one, and many others. BMTH has been around for about 15 years and their sound has definitely changed a lot, but it's all amazing in my opinion! You've only just scratched the surface of what they're capable of!
Glad you ladies checked out BMTH. Nana King, that's a great way to describe them- "Don't put them in a box. They always bring something new." Also shout out to Jojo! Hopefully she and Ozzy behave 😤 Have a fabulous weekend, Grannies ❤
FYI, the intro is actually a Bulgarian folk song called “Ergen Deda”, which was re-recorded by Oli’s wife. The original is very cool as well. How do I know? I am Bulgarian :3
@@IsopropylAlchemist it isn't, the band themselves said it was inspired by the Parasite Eve video game. The whole album has tons of horror rpg references!
Cheers to all those who'd suggested this band! Love this song, but had completely forgotten about it. Granny Haze.. LOVE your Journey tee! One of the bands I grew up hearing, my mom & 1 brother were big fans, had all the albums. :) \m/
They did this whole video during lock down... Oil did the editing, you definitely should listen to more of them. They have grown so much over the years.❤❤
Really like this band! Pray For Plagues, Mother Tongue and Can you feel my heart could be three great songs if you want to do more of their différents styles
Fun fact they made the music video while they were all miles apart in quarentine and the singer olie did all the editing. I'd say they are my favorite band at the moment theres never a dull moment with bmth
The behind the scenes for how this video was made is really interesting. It was filmed during the earlier stages of the pandemic so they had reduced resources and most of the filming effects are done filming through bits of coloured glass I think. Oli, the bands frontman also directed and edited the video, he's a creative lad.
a hello from Brazil grandmothers, i just loved your channel, my girlfriend and we just had dinner listening to your react, and we love it. thank you for being so wonderful. ❤️
Woo hoo. So next? Kingslayer they did with BABYMETAL, Teardrops, Happy Song, the list goes on. They are a UK group haling from Sheffield who have evolved over the years from the Deathcore roots. And the lead singr Ollie creates the videos.
This was actually written abput an old game called Parasite Eve. It just happened to fit the pandemic perfectly. They also shot the video from quarantine which is why it has all the cool special effects. The lead singer and the guy that does their.mixing work direct and produce a ton of their videos. The whole.ep that this song is on just came out and its bonkers good. You shpuld check out kingslayer and teardrops. Teardrops might be my fav song by them
The whole album this is from (Post Human: Survival Horror) is INCREDIBLE. I highly recommend literally everything off it, but Kingslayer (feat BabyMetal) and Obey (feat Yungblud) are both great choices.
While seeming all too relevant to the current coronavirus crisis, the song ‘Parasite Eve’ actually started to form last year when Sykes was reading about a Japanese superbug that had become heat resistant due to climate change. He borrowed the title from an old Playstation game and the band started to record the track back in February before the pandemic really took hold across the globe.
These are from my old 'neck-of-the-woods, Sheffield (England). BMTH have origins going back almost 20 years. The sound on this track reminds me a lot of Raves I used to help organise (going back to early 90s). It wasn't just Techno-based music at those. We'd bring in bands too, from many genres. Great times! Who knows, maybe BMTH came to some of those!
Seen the thumbnail, instantly ohhhhh the granies are listening Parasite Eve! Also this is one of the best bands you've reacted to it, trust me they are seriously talented. You know not of what you just listened to just yet, imo (in my opinion) they're one of the most icon bands rn, they're the one of this generations influential, pivotal & vital artists! 🎸
They've been a band for 14+ first album was in 2006 but had a ep in '04. Since this was your first listen you should hear the rest of Survival Horror first then go backwards. Next song listen to Teardrops by BMTH
Anyone remember "Skynet"? I think the song could be hinting at that kind of future, making mankind the "Parasite". You have your own take on it. No 2 people have the same type of imagination. But as for this song, totally awesome. So original with it's changing style and pace throughout. And that video, must have cost a fortune. Utterly fantastic. Can't wait for another 2RG reaction the this band.
Written before the pandemic was a thing, it is based on the 1998 Playstation video game Parasite Eve a cult classic game involving sci-fi themed modern day bio weapon outbreak gone wrong with a Resident Evil kind of feel. They actually hesitated releasing it as the Video and finale instrumentals were finished at the onset of the pandemic. Once the hype of the pandemic settled down in June they felt more comfortable releasing it.
Olli, the singer, said in an interview that this was actually about a virus pandemic that was in Japan many years ago. They were also hesitating on releasing this because of the current global pandemic.
Idk of anyone answered but the overall "theme" of the EP this came out on is humanity is a parasite, and a thing that is killing the world. BMTH as a whole is such a good story telling band. Their entire albums tell a story within each other even if one song to the next is a completely different genre
One of the reasons I think you are gonna like BMTH is that Oli (the singer and lyricist) has gone through much between drugs and mental health, and he pours his entire heart in the music he makes. Jordan, Lee, Matt and Vegan are very talented too, but I just saw how much you like Ronnie Radke because of the passion he puts in what he does, so it came to my mind. Oh and the entire video of Parasite Eve has been directed, produced and edited by Oli! They all filmed separately (since it was in late May) and then he put everything together. Another fun fact is that the female voice is his wife!
Thanks for your interesting info. This Oli fellow seems to be an extremely talented person. Great editing on his part too. Keep on rocking babies. 🎶✌🏻🖤🤘🏻
The genius of BMTH is their lyricism. All of their songs have layers upon layers of interpretation and they are just SO incredible. ❤ This new album is 🔥🔥🔥

Love the show ! You Grannies ROCK !!!! Try this one I would love to hear what you have to say about it ! Apocalypse Orchestra - The Garden Of Earthly Delights
Been listening to this band for a long long time their newest EP is really damn good like other comments have said Doomed live at Royal Albert Hall will blow your minds
You got it right with the first guess, they wrote this song specifically about the COVID-19 pandemic and the horrifically inadequate response from so many governments around the world. It's also a reference to a Japanese video game of the same name, so they wove the two topics together for the song.
The part you hear sampled in the beginning is a traditional Bulgarian folk song, BTW. Another good song from their new album is Obey. You can say whatever you want about the band, but they're not afraid of experimenting and evolving. If you're interested in their humble and much heavier beginnings, check out Pray for Plagues - it's almost like listening to a completely different band and singer. Additionally, I keep pushing for Nomer 1 by Bicheto and Shattered by SEVI, especially if you decide to do another International Week.
I had heard the song was about a Japanese superbug that had become heat resistant due to climate change. I think it can also be applied to what the world is currently facing with Covid and whatever else you want to apply to it. One of the best lines is (IMO): "When all the king's sources and all the king's friends Don't know their arses from their pathogens When life is a prison and death is the door This ain't a warning, this is a war, war" The band has many good songs with good written lyrics. In terms of genre, I feel like they are similar to BabyMetal in that they have soooo many different sounds.
Glad you got around to bmth. I myself just discovered them a few weeks ago due to this latest EP. Every song is great. Now I'm working my way backwards. Similar to FiR in that they change their sound. More bmth please! Keep rockin!
This was so cool!! You should listen to kingslayer, 1x1, obey ft Yungblud, mantra, happy song, doomed, shadow Moses, blessed with a curse just to name a few!!
@NanaKing You should check out Ronnie's first band Escape The Fate. He was on their first album Dying is your latest Fashion. Ronnie wrote a song called The Day I Left The Womb. After knowing Ronnie's history and listening to it, its gut wrenching honestly... even if you dont do a reaction it please give it a listen. You'll live and appreciate Ronnie that much more....
They originally had this written before coronavirus was a thing, it was about a smaller Japanese pandemic. They released the album during covid 19 after altering the lyrics of this song so it wasn't disrespectful to those that had died.
Bring me the horizon- doomed (live at the royal Albert hall) they did a whole concert with an orchestra, excellent production.

Man - I hope they're blown away!
Great song, great band. We’ll be doing more. Keep on rocking babies. 🖤✌🏻🎶🤘🏻
They originally had this written before coronavirus was a thing, it was about a smaller Japanese pandemic. They released the album during covid 19 after altering the lyrics of this song so it wasn't disrespectful to those that had died.
It's based off of the video game Parasite Eve, although I personally think the parasite is the human race itself
Thanks for the info & rock on babies. 🖤✌🏻🎶🤘🏻
