1st track days is always nerve wrecking but second time around is way more fun. Always a humbling experience and fun way to learn your car and hone your skill

The only downside is guys racing past and then putting their hazards on while they cruise on the racing line 🤦🏽♂️ And as you can tell I'm looking for tips myself. 🤣 But the battles does help. I push way harder when I'm chasing or being chased.

Track days will highlight the weak parts of your car but it looks like you had great fun. You do need rose joint gear linkages. It will raise your shifts to another level. Regarding 8V long stroke VW engines, they have a wider toque range than a 16v which makes them ideal for track racing compared to drags..They are stronger coming out of corners. Thanks for your video.
@@VWPirates I've got a cable shift gearbox so rose joints won't help me. Shifting on track isn't bad. I struggle with 2nd and the shift from 2nd to 3rd. I dont need to do that on track. That 8v did really well, I'm looking forward to having many more dices with him in future. 🙏🏽

Firstly, that motor sounds incredible - The fuel and octane booster(?) really helped - no pinging and that temperature was excellent. 1:35 is really good. Secondly, It sounds like you need more camber or you need to play around with the Tyre pressure. Thirdly, don't change too much, watch your video, pick your braking point, where you feather the throttle and accelerate out. The indication is tyre noise, less is more. Smooth is fast, fast is smooth. I love your car, love your journey - keep it up. This is probably one of the best channels because of how much I love, Golfs and this proves how amazing a VW 16v is. Well done!!
@@anesennaidoo5279 Thank you. Yes the octane booster sorted out the heat induced detonation I was having. The goal is to add a little more camber. A extra -1.5ish will be good. And yes the tyre pressure wasn't idle. I think I needed more in the rear and a touch less in front. The street tyres are very focal which is nice. I might be switching to semis for the next event so that should be very interesting. Appreciate the kind words. The 16v is a gem. I'm glad I get a do over with it.

Change 2 things - keep your hands in 3 and 9 position and don’t change over. Open the steering on exit of the corner don’t keep tightening it, as you are creating more under steer.

Don't waste your time on heel toe. You can gain a noticeable amount of time not focusing on that. I tried it when I started racing and moved on from it very quickly when I saw that the fastest guys at the circuit don't drive like that. Your lines look okay, but you can use more of the circuit on the corner exits. Can definitely brake later also. Low 30s is possible for sure with better tires I think. I like the content a lot. People need to see something other than drag racing also.

Way more metal capacity to focus on braking alone when I'm not trying to blip the throttle in the process. I agree about using more of the circuit but the lines I showed in the video didn't take me there. It seems silly going wide just to use the curbing. I can definitely brake later but I wanted to try slow in and fast out. At the last event I really got on the brakes and I knew I could brake later then too. But this event was not about that. It will come in future though. I appreciate you taking the time to type all that out. There's definitely more track content coming. It won't get the same love as the drag racing because I've built a following around that for a long time but in time it should pick up... I hope.
@@lowdl I can agree for sure on the cool factor of the throttle blip lol. With the lines, you should see the car want to float wider on its own as you pick up more cornering speed with improvement. Anyway, do what you enjoy. And no hate to the drag stuff, I enjoy that too. The 1.8t is my favourite.
@@prinsbertus I have seen the car want to go out wider on a few turns. Experienced it most on my first session but for some reason as the day went on my lines changed. It feels great when it happens but it's not calculated and I can't replicate it. I guess that's the goal right now. I still love drag racing and I miss being out there but being able to try something else is nice. I'll have a good mix on circuit and drag content in future God willing.

For a built motor that's always an achievement. Haha. And consumption for the hour of track time was just over half tank I think. Let's say 3/4. The 16v isn't too bad on fuel. When I switch to an ethanol mix it's going to consume more but for now I can't really complain. It's just thr octane booster than makes it expensive. NF in particular is way too expensive.

@@uzairthomason2337 Camber, castor and went lower. It helped. Camber and castor helped the car turn in and the ride height felt good because the bumps into and out of turn 1 felt so much better after the suspension adjustment.
