I was in my early teens when I saw Mr. Williams on screen in the Empire Strikes Back. I fell head over heels. The look, the smile, and good heavens, his voice.
Ditto: “Empire,” I was 16!! I remember “Colt 45,” commercial, and Billy with Diana Ross, esp in “Mahogany” 💖 I remember once, (1990’s) when I said, out loud, (with a bunch of “Friends,” how hot I thought Billy Dee was, when one, or two bigots, were very negatively confrontational, about my choice, of what color “the hot guy,” was 🤯 🙄🤦🏻♀️ We didn’t hang out after that,… My Choice!! 🤷🏻♀️ We’re All God’s children!!
"You want my arm to fall off?" Those was some SWEET & SWOONIN' words from his lips in the movie LADY SINGS THE BLUES!!! EVERY BLACK WOMAN MELTEDDDDDDD!!❤❤❤❤
His acting body of work is complex and moving! Moreover, he’s one of my favorite actors! Thank you for sharing this interview of the great thespian #BillyDeeWilliams
This coverage did not mention the TV movie; Chiefs. Billy Dee Williams was Magnificent and Brilliant in; Chiefs. Awesome Career of Acting Roles/Work. Blessing Bill Dee Williams
As a big Star Wars fan, I was very upset with Lando for betraying Han, Leia, and Chewbacca, as well as C-3PO. Lando could have warned them somehow! For 3 years, Star Wars fans were waiting to see what happened next. I'm glad Lando helped save Han from Jabba. I really wanted to see Han Punch Lando really hard after getting his sight back and say, "That's for the Princess." I learned to forgive Lando for what he did to his friends, which became more like family. Thanks, Billy Dee, for playing such a scoudrel, a handsome scoudrel at that. I loved Billy Dee in Brian's Song, Mahagony, Lady Sings The Blues, and more. I'm definitely going to read his book. Thank You CBS This Morning for a Terrific interview and story.
He really didn’t betrayed them he even said I’m sorry they arrived before you there wasn’t much he could have done he’s could city was at stake but first thing we got opportunity he step in to help out.
I have more appreciation for Lando now than I did in the past. Think about it: 28 years before the US elected a Black president, a sci-fi movie introduced a black man as ruler of a planet. And he took his job seriously. Then in the sequel he leads an entire fleet against the Death Star. And he helps Luke defeat Jabba the Hutt. Disney couldn't even top that.
Glad he slipped that in there. Many black actors can be embittered about not this part, not that part. He got, what he got. And he spun it into gold. Does anyone look down on his career? Hell, no.
my recent dog is called 'Lando' which i think is an awesome name for a dog. my last and first dog's name was Boba. being a star wars fan since i was 11 in 1977 my dogs will always bear a star wars name but Lando is just the best name and always will be! i think my next dog's name (i always rescue old dogs so thinking about names for the next dog isn't that weird) will be Beskar :-).
He is getting on but Billy an icon (never saw Brian's Song, heard it was nice, better than Colt 45 ads lol). Donald Glover can't hold a candle to you, Lando Dee Williams! Carry on!! ❤🎉 (fun fact: in the scene where he meets Han and Leia in Cloud City they just finished partying with the Stones pre-tour :)
Great interview. He seems in very good spirits. Shame they didn't work in any Return of the Jedi clips where he was purely heroic, and had two great costumes.
A true gentleman for sure. It's a shame Star Wars fans didn't get to see him with Carrie, Mark and Harrison for one last ride on the Milennium Falcon together.
What a classy human being with such talent. He said I did not go into the world feeling like a victim. Much of America should practice that and stop the race card.
Here is an honest comment, no agenda. Was 15 yo when I watched "Empire Strikes Back". Didn't bat an eye at BDW playing Lando. (Nobody I knew said a thing, either) His being black was just zero part of the role. He was a beloved American actor, and did a great job. Just like all the other great actors that Lucas found to create interesting characters. How did Hollywood get to this point where we have quotas?
Insightful comments on thinking Calrissian was Armenian when he was introduced to the part and about his faults as the source of his marriage failures.
Ha! Poor Florence, always meetin' the wrong man in church. Rev. Daniels, who ran off with her money, and the other guy who she was going to marry, but he started treating her like it was the 1800's!
Fair to ask though - what happened to the roles? He was a darn good actor - had it all going for him! He didn’t have to be the rascally charmer always either. He had the range. Oh well, Hollywood mystery.
Billy Dee is an amazing actor. I'm so happy that he's getting the recognition he deserves.
Billy Dee, the smoothest dude on film.
Anyone who doesn't cry while watching Brian's Song has no soul.
Yep
I've always liked Billy Dee Williams. He's smooth and an attractive man in and out.
Before Denzel there was Billy Dee.
Not quite Denzel level.
FACT !!!
@@steveconnreverse that...
@@steveconnDenzel will never achieve his level! There is no Denzel without Billy Dee Williams! Period! And I love Denzel too! ❤️
Dont forget his iconic appearance on The Jeffersons .."Ciao Bella..."
Absolutely hilarious...when Florence realizes it's really him! Classic. 🖤
A beautiful man, inside and out! Been a huge fan since Lady Sings the Blues!
Yup he was gorgeous there !
True legend of our galaxy.

@@s.t.martin7939 it's a little sad, but sometimes in life we all have to let go of dead weight from time to time.

Never saw Rise of Skywalker.
Love Lando Calrissian.
Thank you, Mister Williams.
How blessed are we to see people do things, like acting, and do it well.
Billy Dee Williams played Gale Sayers in the television movie Brian's song. It is one of his best performances.

It ain't that serious bruh it was a movie role SMH
Going to see him in October and can’t wait. The dude is a legend
Well said. Something many people in society today could learn from, which is not living life with a victim mentality.

I'm a fan of all of his work and his voice still sounds pretty much the same to did 30 years ago. That's why he does so much voice acting still
