    That spray foam one reminds me when I was working in the drag racing industry. We had a customer come in and specifically request Moroso's block sealer for sealing your water jacket on a drag motor. I wasn't the salesman, but I sure witnessed the irate customer when they returned a couple of days later, trying to blame the salesman for ruining his engine and demanding we replace it. Turns out the idiot poured the block sealer into his crankcase and not the water jacket, so it sealed his engine into a boat anchor. He did not get a replacement motor from us, he got told to go pound sand. Obviously shouldn't have been working on his vehicle and he paid the price.

    I never liked having to pay the $35.00 fee in my state (The price has gone up over the years) for a yearly inspection and a sticker, but after watching these video's I'm glad now. At least we don't have cars on our roads like some of the unsafe death traps that I've seen on these video's. When there is they aren't allowed to be driven for more than a year before they get failed at inspection time. We even get a fail sticker in this state for rust.

      As the name implies, Sea Foam is meant to clean 2-stroke oil residue from outboard engines. It won't do much for 4-strokes, but it won't do any harm either (except to your wallet)
      If you have a 2-stroke or a rotary engine it might be useful though (I've got both: a Subaru Sambar and a Mazda RX8)

    • @billolsen4360

      I tried DIY sea foam myself. Live just south of LAX right on the shore, so collected sea foam in a bucket right off the ocean waves as they crashed ashore at El Segundo Beach. That was yesterday. Works like a charm so far.

    • @101Volts
      @101Volts Год назад +2

      @@PrototypeSpaceMonkey SeaFoam helps remove piston chamber deposits in 4 strokes, but that's both if you can let it soak in the piston chamber and if the engine was *well* coked up. I speak from experience with a Snowblower.
      There are probably cheaper ways to clean deposits, though. Number 1 is the water bottle spray method, and you really can't just pour a darn garden hose into, or a cup, *or you'll obliterate the engine.* You cannot put too much water down the *air intake.*
      With this method, you gotta just take a cheap plastic spray bottle like you'd spray a plant with, and you put water in it, and you spray it down the air intake while the engine's on. The engine will bog down (so stop spraying,) then it'll eventually come back up. I've done this before to a neighbor's lawnmower, and it spat out all the black carbon that was in the piston cylinder, and the mower stopped stalling out. Mind, he also had a clogged air filter, so that contributed to it too. But the mower barely ran even with the filter off, so the air filter wasn't a big deal.
      Mind, I'm not saying this just to you. I'm assuming someone (even if just 1 person) reading could have an off day, and mis-interpret what I say, then end up featured on this channel if I don't make myself clear. So, I'll reiterate:
      1: You _can_ spray water down an air intake to remove carbon deposits, but some engines may be more sensitive to this than others. That said, Water-Methanol Injection is a modification that can be done to most if not all gas or diesel engines. It cools the combustion chamber, and then an engine can be tuned differently so it's more powerful. It's a very effective modification.
      2: Your engine probably doesn't need Water sprayed down the air intake.
      3: If your engine does need this, you really do need a fine mist of water to go down an air intake, and *not lots of it at once.*
      4: If you want to do this, use a spray bottle. Use a spray bottle. Use a spray bottle.
      5: Try it on a junky lawnmower that's barely running, first, if you have one. Take the air filter off and put it away from the mower, be ready with your water spray bottle, and start the engine with the mower on a flat surface. Leave it on for at least 2 to 3 minutes, then gently spray water down the air intake, being careful about the mower blades.

      If it's actually CO2, and not nitrous, as a lot of people assume, then it could be some kind of pellet gun powered by a compressed gas cylinder. You'd probably see thousands of plastic pellets (or maybe paintballs or something else) if that were the case, though.
