For me (someone with a Metal background) the appeal of BTS came when I listened to their albums "The most beautiful moment in life" and "Love Yourself: Tear".... The music is phenomenal but the lyrics is what made me solidified myself as Army.... Especially when you look deeper into the meaning and realise that these songs isn't speaking about relationships, they're speaking mostly about self love..... In the most Non cringy way ever.....
BTS makes me feel like they understand me in my worst moments, shares my pain and helps lift me out of my dark moments by just being with me and being understanding.... And I actually feel understood, it's so weird I've never been into groups or music like this but they're just different, they hit different, it's something one just has to experience

RM’s song “Heaven” is fantastic if you’re a shoegaze fan :)
To anyone who isn’t familiar with BTS’ discography: they can surprise even the most open ears. These men know good music. So many genres, so much depth in lyrics, impressive live performances, and overall incredible.

This whole album is an essential part of any music nerds collection. Every single project RM puts out is different from the rest and the music he writes for BTS is different again..( check out Vs solo SINGULARITY as RM is responsible for the poetry of those lyrics, he's the primary writer secondary producer) whereas his previous album INDIGO is a highly polished gem with industry venerables like ERYKAH BADU, YOUJEEN and COLDE and ANDERSON PAAK ..this album is genre cocktails, experimental emotionally raw. RM breaks the chains of expectation and let's them fall where they may.RMs MONO is the most EMO of his projects.

As a fellow Scot who was (is) an indie/rock chick, I fell in love with BTS during Covid/lockdown. It’s so cliche but apparently you find them when you most need them and they got me through that ❤️ I adored RM’s album Indigo and didn’t think anything could top it and then he released Right Place Wrong Person (which this song is from) and it’s just bloody genius. I enjoyed your reaction and I look forward to seeing which other songs you might be surprised by 👌🏻

In this song "her" and come back to ME is actually about himself...he means he wants to come back to himself...yhr woman is also a representation of that

  • @JanB-qm2bi
    @JanB-qm2bi 4 месяца назад +13

You may be right, but I think RM is talking about different parts of himself. He wants to come back to the me he truly feels comfortable being. Being an idol has been a tough stretch for RM, especially the poppy American English songs that were put out during the pandemic. I think he felt like he lost his way as an artist and needed a break to refresh himself after 10 years of cranking out hit after hit. Another song off his Indigo album is Wild Flower which has a similar theme of being in a place where he doesn't quite fit. The album title for Come Back To Me is Wrong Place, Right Person, which references the same theme. RM is a true poet and lyrics are why I am ARMY.

The whole album is chef's kiss! Keeping it on repeat since it came out. But to me this song is him coming back to himself. The situation changes in the scenes once he changes his attitude to it. That guy is a very deep thinker. 💜💜💜

After I opened my mind like that, Ive found songs that I like in classical, rap, pop, kpop, jazz when before I was its heavy metal or nothing. Ive been army for 6 years and I dont like all Bts songs and its totally ok. I will support them nonetheless, because the songs that do resonate with me have literally saved my life.

RM is the person the group was built around Main Song Writers of the 7 and like Suga was an underground Rapper. He plays piano maybe not to the same standard as Suga(aka Agust D) as he's been playing since he was very young but I've heard RM play piano and he's not slouch in that department. He is also playing Saxophone in the Military Band in the Military so that makes 2 of the member who play Saxophone now as the other saxophone player is V.

There's nothing about this I don't like, I mean really. It's got everything I look for in a song that's worth LISTENING to.
    Not background music. LISTENING, absorbing.
Also: One particular highlight that stood out. (new to me, btw) was the use of Korean as the alternate language fill that keeps the flow and rhyme scheme. English, English, Korean, English, loved it.
Also also: I know it's not some world shattering breakthrough or whatever, and probably the "Uhm, actually" type could list 314 songs that did that same schema before this track. Couldn't possibly care less~ it happened here, was new to me, and I loved it.

Not everyone likes pop, so not everyone will like many of BTS songs. I think the era of BTS you will like most is from The Most Beautiful Moment in Life and Wings albums, which are their mid-discography albums, and the art films that go along with it, narrating a fictional but personal storyline, the BU, as it will give you a window into what makes them unique. However, it can be a bit daunting to undertake. I believe the thing that will make the most sense for you as someone trying to understand why BTS is as big as they are, but not loving pop music, is to actually react to the RUclips Docuseries called The Rise of Bangtan. It tells their story and includes snippets of a lot of their music chronologically. There are 21 episodes. I feel like this is how you will enjoy reacting to them more.

Thank you for being open minded and i'm really sorry if some people were mean in your comments.
RM likes to introduce himself as a poet, he his a true lyricist and play with words in 2 langages (3 with japanase but he uses it less).
His last album, Right place wrong person, of wich CBTM is the conclusion, is his scream for normalcy. He had to make it before his military service, to let go what he had to say.
His first solo album, Indigo, is different as it's composed of songs that he wrote along his 20's. It's more of an archive, as he says himself.
He has also a mixtape called MONO, wich is my favorite from him.
And i will end this very long comment by saying that yes, they are very nice and kind human beings and they worth the time that you will spend to discover their music.
I'll add that you have a very smooth voice 😊
Anyway, welcome in this beautiful world. Ask all the questions you want/need, we will answer !

Also RM’s collaborations with Korean indie artists are excellent. I would recommend Don’t, Don’t Ever Say Love Me, and Sexy Nukim (the Sexy Nukim video is a must - experimental hiphop). Everything RM does is unique and he’s always exploring new territory.

I was genuinely surprised to see you check out another BTS/solo song after your experiences so far, but I'm glad you liked it! I'm sure you're gonna get a lot of recs for RM's albums after this (my fave is Indigo), but I do also want to throw out his single Bicycle, which isn't on an album and at least to me has a similar vibe to this one. We have very different taste haha so I'm still trying to gauge yours, but you might also like V's solos? They're very different from the BTS group songs you've heard so far as well, very mellow. His solo album is called Layover, but he also has a bunch of singles not on that album.

The live versions of V’s songs (tiny desk!) are particularly good with the live band 👌🏻

I don't see this as a romantic song at all, just my opinion, of course. But just a heads up for future BTS reactions - just because something sounds like a love song, it not necessarily is. Even when they say 'you' they might be referring to themselves, like talking to yourself kind of situation. And I think this is the case for this song too. The album title 'Right Place Wrong Person' is a clue to what the video is about. Namjoon starts out feeling like a wrong person in seemingly right situations and only after he finds himself, literally and figuratively, those same situations become positive. At the end he's able to leave the filming set because he has stopped 'playing the role' that was expected of him by outside world. He became himself basically (also this song is a conclusion to a very IDGAF album, which you should honestly check in it's entirety). So when he sings 'come back to me' I don't think he's referring to another person at all, I think he is talking to his true self. Questioning his identity (and occasionally having a mild existential crisis) is a common theme in RM's music, you can expect him to get very philosophical and poetic.
With all that said, sometimes BTS songs intentionally have multiple meanings layered on top of each other so your comment about it referring to a partner is still very valid. I vaguely remember Namjoon mentioning that the highest level of songwriting for him is being able to write a personal story in a universal way.

Do you do album reactions? I feel like you should do bts and BTS solo album reactions. I think you'd like it more

I do album reactions but I’ve paused them at the moment so I can catch up, and they usually cost a fair amount so I don’t like advertising them cause it feels greedy to me 😂 I’m bad at this whole running a business thing

BTS really does have non pop songs. There wouldn’t be so many of us if they didn’t. Hopefully your ARMY friend is a bit emo-ie.
