  • This is my adventure of climbing Missouri Mountain, 14, 071 feet in the Sawatch Range, Collegiate Peaks, of Colorado. It was windy all day with ominous low clouds that did not break until right when I got to the summit. The route taken was the standard Northwest Ridge up the Missouri Gulch trail. At 11, 600 feet the Trail forks right to Missouri Mountain/Elkhead Pass or left to Mount Belford/Oxford which I had previoulsy climbed on June 29, 2023. The trail up to the ridge was fun and the ridge hike to the summit was challenging and rewarding. The views of the surrounding mountains were spectacular. The hike/climb was 13.3 miles, with an elevation gain of 4,500 feet, and took 9 hours 52 minutes. This was a difficult Class 2 hike. My 29th 14er Colorado Adventure.
