- This is a small clip of the one and only Michael League. The bass player, arranger and composer of the Grammy Award winning band, "SNARKY PUPPY!!! This was truly an awesome clinic...
love this solo....
William Eggleston Jr...... Thank you for that video🙏🏾
One of the best musicians I know and listened to.
Oh my god dude he’s a beast on Bass’
You should listen to Snarky Puppy if you haven’t already, that’s a group he plays for. They’re killer
Thanks for sharing..such a great study piece. I'm blown away but his use of legato to create emotion. All the fills feel are so tasteful and substantive. No superfluous notes distracting from the feeling.
So so sick!
You the best musician.
3.56 the oh so energetic look to see if his strap was falling off. hahahahh
2:00 you can definitely smell the funk at this part
What a Beast
1:35, even Michael League has some Wooten influence
Yeah
awesome video! has anyone noticed that michael league plays in e min/g maj a lot? i noticed a lot of snarky's music is in this key a lot too.
+Digital_Cratez Glad it wasn't just me that noticed this. I feel like this proves my Spiritual Key theory.
+Digital_Cratez Actually, this is kind of the easiest key to a bass or guitar player. Pretty straight forward.
João MenegaleBarbi You mean because of standard tuning and the fact that you could just hit any open string and it'll work? Or is it something else?
João MenegaleBarbi good call. thanks
machinimamarlon Well, I don't know for sure, but I'll tell you what I think it is. First, yes, the open strings. In bass or guitar, ANY open string with standard tuning is inside the E minor pentatonic scale. Second, the fact that the low E is the lowest you can go. For a bass player, that counts a lot. If the song is in D or D minor, usually you drop the tuning so you can have a low D. Also, there is a lot of riffs that require open strings, especially the E. But is you use E major, you can't hit neither the D string nor the G. I think is something like that
no slap needed.
Slap is amazing when tastefully incorporated, but this definitely didn’t need it 🙏
Slapping is neat, but it tends to make the bassist sound templated and cliche. Ever since the mid-90s, I have moved away from listening to music that is characterized by a bass-slapper.
I see you back there, Linden
It comes from Kinga Glyk, That Right There ! At least the 3 main parts at the beginning
COOL!!!👍👍🤜 One Non-Musical Question: How Do You Put On SKIN TIGHT Jeans When Your FEET Are Wider/Thicker Than Your WHOLE LEG!!!!?🤯
The power of MAXIMUM SWAG!!!!!
It's not the outside clothes that makes the swag, but what's inside of you. That's the secret. That's where the swag is at.
Since he has swagnificence on the inside, he doesn't have to fit his clothes. His clothes.......fit him.
what year is the red one? anyone know? i think its older. maybe 60's?
He said in the snarky puppy rig rundown that he own a 1965 p-bass, it's probably this bass. Don't know if it's a fadded dakota red, a reddish fiesta red or a refinish...
Guys…who cares what kind of bass he’s using.are you players or equipment fanboys? Go practice!
0:51 anyone hear portrait of Tracy?
Ah, so good... what is the song?
first bit is "the saga of harrison crabfeathers" then he goes off and does his own thing
Kinka Glyk That Right There

Bof !
Go white boy
A little muddy in the tone department but showed great skill!
Brian Thompson flat wound strings my man
You have to be a pbass lover to appreciate this tone. Because when it is with the full band it is absolutely killin.
Crap.. also boring 😮😮😮
