My father bought a Suffolk Colt 12" in the early sixties which I now own and it's still in full working order. I bought an old Suffolk Punch 14" in 1976 second hand and I still use it to cut the grass to this day, although its been repaired and maintained over the years. It's testament to 1960's British engineering in a bygone era when things were built to last. In the same period I've had three Flymo's. Thanks for posting a very interesting video.
That, as you say, is indeed a testament to reliability!! - Great to know you still use these mowers!! Thanks for watching Colin, I'm happy this was interesting/entertaining for you!
Stumbled across this video. What a fascinating museum. My husband thinks I'm weird for wanting to visit it, maybe one day if I am in that part of the world 🤞. I have a Suffolk Swift which I have used since a child and it's still in regular use. Love my mower and it has sentimental value too. Hoping to find someone who can make a new wooden roller for me one day as that is showing its age.
Brian is brilliant- full of knowledge about his specialist subject!! If I come across a good wood turner, I’ll see if they can make you a new roller. The barrel mowers are by far the bast cutting mowers out there!!!
Brian is absolutely fantastic! .. my main takeaway was barrel mowers that cut like scissors vs flymows that rip like weed whackers. I've been hankering after a barrel mower that I can convert to lithium ion electric power. :-)
This was wonderful! My brother didn't save the ancient push reel mower we used all our childhood, with a stout oak handle. But I remember first walking the yard looking for any sticks off a bush or tree first before mowing, as a stick would stop it in its tracks. We actually never owned a power mower while at home, and now I use an EGO rechargeable battery mower. This was a real cutting edge type of video, well done!
I was born in Suffolk 1966 and my dad cut the grass, with that Suffolk mower. One of my first memories was burning my hand on the exhaust when he stopped to speak with the neighbour. Thanks for that interesting video.
Wow so good to see so many great lawnmowers👍
Thanks for visiting, Brian is a wealth of knowledge!!

100% agree with the fixing side of things. Saved a friend over £1000 by repairing the controller for his commercial Combi Oven.
The throw away society of today sucks... it’s very satisfying to fix something!! Very kind of you to help a friend out!!
@@DubiousEngineering he did pay me ;)
