    I have to say Ivan that this is one of the most informative and thorough car reviews that I've seen in a very long time. I like that this review is a warts and all as well as the really good bits. An objective review without doubt. OK the car, I'm a bit of a fan of Citroen from when I was a kid all those decades ago. This car looks like a comfy jack of many trades, just done include spirited driving on a twisty road with a car full of tall people unless you like to deep clean it afterwards. Personally I would 'almost' consider it, these days I drive more like miss Daisy as the congested roads limit much of the spirited fun stuff a fair bit, I take things a lot easier now than back in the day. The could do better bits (I'll not call them bad), boot access as you mention although there is a lot of space with the seats folded or not and range given my driving habits. Once again a great review and I doff my hat to Citroen once again for doing something different.

    I collected my Citroën C4 last Friday. I’m thrilled to bits with it. I’m a slow and steady driver so this is perfect for me. My previous car was The MG Electric. I liked driving it and the design was much admired. It annoyed the hell out of me. It had a loud and frequent beep and the electrics failed miserably and frequently. I was glad to be rid of it. I had it 3 years. This car is much more comfortable to drive. It is top of the range with all the extras. I like the back massage and find it relaxing.

    Personally, I think the battery size of the EC4 and by extension this model, is a sweet spot of ecological and range usability. Uses less environmentally damaging components (fitting Citroens current ecological drive) yet fits the commute requirements of most people (RUclips commenters make you think everyone lives on the motorway). I'd recommend naysayers to watch Bjorn Nyland's review of the eC4. Its a very efficient car, with good rapid charging speeds. He took it on a 600mile (1000km) run. The problem in the UK is infrastructure not the cars. Agreed there are better motorway ev runners but for the regular person its fine. And this is feedback from owners (I own a C5 Aircross and looked into the eC4, asked around and so far havent met an unsatisfied owner). As for that trunk....its reminiscent of Citroens of yore its more intended for suitcases. Citroen doesnt do sporty, at least not for the general public, it does safe and comfortable so anyone looking for sporty need to look elsewhere. Horses for courses.

    It's not on SUV it's not even as high as an SUV. It's a saloon that is slighty higher than a regular saloon. Think Seat Teledo mk 3 saloon or Suzuki Liana mk2 saloon. Its great to see a company being so brave in these times of boring samey SUVs and doing something different. I hope it's a huge success for Citroen. It deserves to be a success.

    Apart from tying with Toyota and their bZ4x for stupid name of the year award, I like this. Its great that Citroen are going back to what the brand is known for and offering an alternative to people who don't what to suffer a harsh ride on enormous wheels just because the car has been optimised for the Autobahn or is a Nurburgring weapon. Choice is great and I hope enough people buy it to validate Citroens decisions. In EV terms, seems good value as well.

    Ok so we've had a sportback (eC4) this high riding saloon - eC4X, now I want an eC4W high riding estate. Make one of them please Citroen 😌

    I drove standard version, truly amazing comfort for sure but could not believe how much range was lost at motorway speeds. Also the only ev I have ever had to put into sports mode to overtake, progression is 'steady'. If those two issues were sorted I would shortlist.

    Saloon style boot, could be a deal breaker for a family sized car!

  • @iainmorrison1592
    @iainmorrison1592 Год назад +2

    The boot, not being a large hatch, ruins this as a family car.

    • @Dreadpirateflappy
      @Dreadpirateflappy Год назад

      the standard version is already a hatch... this is just the saloon version of the car that came out a while ago.

    • @iainmorrison1592
      @iainmorrison1592 Год назад +1

      @@Dreadpirateflappy The "standard" version might be a hatch but its boot is too small. The family car market is really still waiting for an ev to replace cars like the Insignia, Octavia, Mondeo, etc. This offered a similar size boot but the access is too small to be practical.

    What an useless addition! Using the same old mechanicals as the e-C4!
    Stallantis are putting new motor and slightly bigger 54kwh batteries in all the new and facelifted models yet this car misses out. Could have been a nice package with the updates at this price point.

    I really can't get my head round saloons, the boots are spacious but flat, and you can't really fit things in through a letterbox.

    I've liked many Citroens before, but this is not one of them! It looks ungainly and falls short in too many areas! Also, by all means offer the electric version, but why also not offer the choice of ICE or at least a hybrid version?

    I have to regularly drive four freakishly tall passengers so this car is not practical for me. Surely I can't be in a vanishingly small demographic of car users.....?

  • @jonathantaylor1998

    What an odd design...
    Why on earth make this a saloon?
    After all, the 'big brother' Citroen C5X is a hatchback...!
    So, yes... odd and, consequently, probably an insignificant addition to the EV market 🤨

    • @cannygrowabeard
      @cannygrowabeard Год назад

      I guess it's very similar to the Renault Arkana (ICE) which I see plenty of going about where I stay. I'm sure the petrol version of this is intended for sale in African and Middle Eastern markets.

    The saloon boot makes this pointless
    I also can't stomach 140miles range in the cold, just not good enough and when you're only charging to 80% to pretext the battery less than 120miles in the cold, you're a moron if you buy this over a second hand model 3

    The Citroën Web site here in France has a range calculator.. When you input your speed and outside temperature and style of driving it gives you a predicted range.. At 12 deg C, spirited driving and normal motorway speeds and you can see the range quoted drop to almost a third of the headline range..
    In other words bloody useless.. Especially here in France where the distances are much greater..
    Another overpriced EV flop
