- This is my own arrangement of Theme of Laura from the soundtrack of the ps2 game Silent Hill 2.
I actually started writing this about 3 years ago but never got around to finishing it. A few weeks ago I found my old handwritten notes I made and finally finished it.
I'm very pleased with how this turned out, I hope you like it too.

9 years laters, found this. It's the best arrangement I listened to so far, I think it retains the feel of the original song pretty accurately (there are some arrangements that change much and end up being "something different"). I liked it very much!

Of all the piano versions of Theme of Laura this one is by far the best. I've already listened to it at least 100 times in past six years.
This is honestly the best piano version of this masterpiece! January first 2012, man the early 2010s feel so far away now. I was just 13 years old😂 can't believe the original Silent Hill 2 game is 23 years old. Truely one of the greatest horror games even, with such a deep and emotionally powerful story. Akira Yamaoka really achieved eternal fame if you ask me. I'm convinced video games of that era are beyond our reach today. The atmosphere, the fog, the limitations of early 2000s games. Nostalgia!

You kept the essence of the song without trying to play it like it was played on guitar, that's a good thing. I've seen other players trying to emulate the way it was played on guitar and it doesn't sound good.
Thanks so much for making this sheet music readily available; a lot of other artists require a subscription or Patreon, but it's really nice to just be able to pick this one up.

Beautiful, just pointing it out for people wanting to learn this through this video, the third note in the main riff 0:21 should be an E rather than a D
Thank you very much and technically you are correct, but... As this melody is played on a guitar in the original, Yamaoka would silde certain notes together. For example the 1st and 3rd notes of the main melody are a slide between two notes. The 3rd being a slide from D to E. So you are right and are more than welcome to play an E but I think most people I've seen play this piece on a piano play a D instead of an E on that part. It doesn't change the feeling of the piece so playing either D or E is down to personal preference.

I totally get what you mean, I commented this because the D sounds a bit like a grace note for the E to me, but then again I am a guitar player, so my tendencies and way of playing this are different to those of a piano player.
I believe my wording of "should" is inappropriate and dismissive of the rest of your abilities, but I think it's important to have it in the pool of comments in case anyone wants a different interpretative approach to their version, not necessarily a better or "more correct" one.

Tremendous work! As others have said, it can't have been easy to maintain the spirit of this song while translating it to piano, but you absolutely did. This is my favorite song from the Silent Hill series, and this might be my favorite cover of it I've ever heard. Well done!

Hey! I love your adaptation to this song, actually I've gotten a lot of my SH sheets from you! If it's not asking too much, do you by chance have one for One More Soul to The Call? I've been searching a piano version of it for years now and there doesn't seem to have that's not made in those weird conversion programs and I do love your adaptations! So, there's no hsrm in asking, right? ^^

My only criticism is I think that from 0:56 to 1:30 the melody would sound better at a higher octave, it just blends in with the chords a little and isn't very clear for me.

How long does it take before you can play tough songs like these? I just started reading sheet music again. I know a few songs from synthesia but that's it.
It's difficult to say Zach, people learn at all different speeds. The key really is practice I'm afraid, but as long as you know the basics there's no reason why you can't learn to play hard pieces, it'll just take longer to learn that's all. Believe in yourself and don't give up and you'll get there. Promise.
