Just implemented the Scheps parallel null compression technique on my vocal mixes and now my vocals sound better in a minute then they did after spending an hour on them prior. Thank you thank you, you're a real one
I remember Andrew talking about that compression philosophy and thinking I could just use the internal sidechain of the comp and not need the EQs. I think I’ll try an A/B today and see how close it is
@@panorama_mastering it wasn’t quite a perfect null but it was very very close. So if the compressor has an internal sidechain, you can skip the extra plugins; but if you’re working with a compressor that doesn’t have a sidechain: using the EQs is a perfect way to mimic one
Hi Nicholas, thanks for another great video. I was using a similar technique but on the main vocal chain, so it's very interesting to see it used in parallel. I'm curious about your compressor choice btw, why the dbx160? Is it because its "punchy" sound or because of another reason?
Cool technique, I'll have to give that a try. Why a pultec for the parallel EQ/compression though? I would have expected a more precise EQ like pro-q3 for something like this
It's been a while since I saw the original video where Andrew scheps explains it but I think it's because the pultec imparts a box tone saturation which helps the compressed signal feel even thicker and more present
Probably the best mix/master channel on the internet. consistently awesome
Wow, thanks!

the low end impact u achieved on this entire mix is fucking insane
Thank you!
Bro I been watching RUclips tutorials for quite a while, discovered your channel and I was like whoah 🐐🔥 advice that actually works
I like this ”updated” series. Always some really niece detail that you have never thought about
Thanks! I'm enjoying making them!
This channel is 💯
Thanks bro!
Such a great tune
nice mix, sounds great
Thanks for listening
Sounds banging, love this format. What would you say are the benefits over multiband compressor on the vocal out of interest?
spectre is amazing for mixing in harmonics. a nice little trick is to turn the mix down so you have to push the level more.
The mix is insane! Can you do a video on this pretty please?
On the WHOLE THING!? Maybe :)
@@panorama_mastering would be a brilliant watch 🙏
Great video man!! How can i get those presets ? (Already subscribed to the newsletter)
I did not understand anything 😢😢 can I get the preset pack??
Sorry for the off-topic, i'm just so curious, what coffee beans are your favourite for espresso?

Do you recommend dynone on the vocals ?
Why do it this way, when u just can put Multiband Compression on the parallel? But very nice approach tried it out my self and works lovely!

Let me know how you go!

My pleasure! Not sure; I like it's aggression!
Did you did the same presets with delays?😮
I tried! To be honest, I struggled.
What is you opinion about using reverb calculator to select the decay and predelay times of our instrumental?
i want to know the answer too since thats exactly what im doing everytime i startup a new session
No opinion, I just don't do it all that often.
@@panorama_masteringso you would just set it by ear?

It's what I learnt it on, and I just run with it!
Could you please show the whole vocal chain? This is just the sound I like. Did you much? Or were the files close to that sound?
That is the whole vocal chain :)
There is vocal rider on there, but literally that's it!
We both have the same mouse. What if we had the same cat, too?
I see i play.
