If anyone is wondering why some people spelled it Shukran while others spelled it Syukran, it's because in Malay and Indonesian, we latinize the arabic "H" as a Y (because Y sometimes makes a H sound in our languages). So it's pronounced Shukran still. But to the outside world its usually latinized as "Shukran" which makes more sense. The Syukran people were MAYBE from southeast asia.
