Made my wheel stand today. It'll be used about 4 times a year. Wooden frame with wider centers for the rollers. Total cost....£0:00. I had the wood and rollers were "borrowed" from work 😉
you could have put the back together first and tightened it up, then place the rollers in, loosely, then put in the front bolts. Instructions from the manufacturer should be included so you can avoid the issues in assembly that you ran into. Now that the powder coating is scratched, you can get it wet or it's going to start to rust and or the powder coat will start to flake off.
That wouldn't do much because the holes line up spot on. If I took them out, then yes I'd have a easier time. I still do not like the design of screwing bolts into the powder coated frame. It just guarantees scratching.
I'm no where near an engineer, but, what about a fixed base with a vertical back (like yours/theirs)...but with an adjustable hub/roller in a track that can be raised or lowered to suit different size/height wheels. Just imagine yours with no rollers at the bottom---the vertical back has an adjustable track in it to raise or lower the roller/or have adjustable ball bearing hubs and the wheel would basically rest on the roller or bearing hub and spins without the tire having to rest on rollers at the bottom. Just thinking out loud. Let me know if that makes sense...easier to draw then explain.
I think I am gonna need a drawing or picture haha. I understand what you mean by the adjustable back roller being able to go up and down, but do not follow what you mean the base should look like

A smart person puts everything together loose first so you don't have those issues with the rollers...
Can this handle 11” wide wheels(no tires) ?
