Hey Mike, when you are ready to put steel roof on, layout the screw holes and drill the entire stack for screws first.....so much easier and neat. Maybe common knowledge but thought I would share with you
Wow, the shed looks beautiful. We use stainless steel soda kegs, modify them into sprayers and use compressed air from an air tank. We put up to 80 psi in them to spray the heavier stains. Again, the shed is looking awesome. Thumbs up !!
Use the bark off cuts for building raised bed planters. The bark side in so they enrich the soil as they deteriorate and the cut face out will look great. If you want the wood to last longer take off the bark
Anyone who lives with the Morgan Ladies knows beauty. I'd guess a meal must be very good to be noticed in such fine company. Pleasant family meals are a true blessing. That unstable center of a log is called the "pith", according to the Out of the Woods channel sawyer. God bless and protect you all, friends.
I'm in the logging business in Michigan and the sawmills call that center square leftover a "cant". There are special Mills that buy them and saw them for pallet stock.
Mike. You guys are the best. Listen I had a high end body shop for 20 years so refinishing comes as second nature. I wanted to say the stain you picked is great. Love the color and the transparency letting the grain show through. One thing that is important is that on the header you have partially done, you want to finish that with a brush because you can accurately work up to your already covered line. If you go over that line it will be like adding a second coat which will show. If you try to use the sprayer the Graco it will be difficult to create that fine of an edge. That header is your show board. Smart choice on getting the Graco. It will make that job doing all of the rafters etc. turn into short order. Good investment. So when are you planning on building the huge barn the way the amish do with post and beam timber frame? You know get You're a man after my own heart. I have an elaborate woodworking shop. Strive for perfection, settle for excellence.
I heat my home 90% with firewood. (I have a heating oil furnace for backup). Mike, you split your wood into the best size for us older folks. Sometimes when I have to buy wood, I get chunks so large that they barely fit in the load door (it's an old farmhouse wood furnace with an end load). Wow that cherry really has a nice look to it. Ru thinks that wet board looks lickable LOL
I have to agree with you Mike about how nice cherry wood is. A few years ago I refurbished a restaurant and we used cherry for the seating and the tables finished in satin lacquer. All the cladding around the bar area again was cherry. When the restaurant reopened and the food critics printed their reviews they all asked what the wood was. Say Hi to Hunter for me. Willie
Malissa off the lease. I learned about the foil dinners in Boy Scouts too. Use to do them more often then we do now. Cherry is hard to split by hand. Buckin got me into hand splitting. Log splitis only used for the knots I can’t split by hand. Mike when are we going to see the pool build? Be safe be kind and have a day.
Mike I don't think you will be disappointed with a sprayer and like you have said you are going to have more buildings plus you only have limited time you can work on these things so faster means you can get more done with the time you have 👍
Hi Mike, it doesn't matter what wood it is the pith in the will check and crack even in wood that is a lot denser than the cherry. I love cherry also, I build furniture and a pile of turning. Cheers from Chigwell Alberta Canada.
Since you cut your own wood you could make a covered area over the mill keep the sun and rain and snow off of it Just a taller version of your woodshed or leave both sides open so you can get a tractor in there.
Mike If you want to control the sawdust from the mill I saw on another channel where they attached a plastic bucket to the discharge chute. Just something to consider if you don't want to be picking through the gravel for sawdust.
I really your videos. The wood is beautiful. The color in the video is very good. Keep up the good times with your Hobbies. I don't want to call it work because work is sometimes very stressful.
I hope your planning on putting some through bolts on the back post to support the back half of the roof structure. I would hate to see that awesome shed have a problem under a snow load.
I love Cherry. At one time I used Cherry to make furniture, rocking horses, toys etc., for my children. Finishes beautifully! So durable and great looking!
That cherry is beautiful wood I really like your setup mill and splitter I’d like to do something like that so I could source the lumber I want to build some of my own cabinets. Hope you and the family have a great day.
Only been through Pennsylvania one time I remember most barns and country buildings we passed were stained red and the fascia boards were white Mr. Morgan I think you're becoming your own man you rebel . Your wood shed looks really good , Puritan Pine . always good video . Be safe
And again, another great video. Love the Cherry lumber. Make many things in the shop when I get it. Typically pick that and Walnut wood up when I get back North. Keep them coming.
Allen, when i was younger i used to woek 18 hours a day, nowdays after 12 i am dead tired. But mike is working on something almost every day after work. Good ol fasioned way, work hard, live modest, and enjoy what you do. I guess he did not win this property in the lottery, its hard erned with lots of swet, thay broght him where he is.
MIke & Melissa - Cur Mudgeon has a great comment. Another great video. Looking forward to seeing the video on foil dinners. Cherry is a very beautiful wood. I am curious as to why you weren't using the de-barker when you began work on the log. Is cherry bark not so hard on the blade or (heaven forbid) did you just forget? Blessings to all the Morgans. Hi to the Hunt man - spicy chicken, Yum Yum!
I love this channel !!! Always excellent tunes , great ethics , and an amazing family !!! You are good parents . Your children are going to do well in the world , you have prepared them well !!! Hello to Hunter !!! Great idea on the sprayer , you will be so glad you did !!! What is the word on the New Tractor ??????
Hello Mike.....we have a place in NE Penn and I am envious of all that cherry you have growing on your property. We have mostly hemlock where we are and I have to agree though that some of the prettiest things to come out of Pa are the trees!
Yes Cherry is a beautiful wood, so is the red pine and knotty pine, I love the character that the knots add to all woods, and some of the cheaper woods have the most character!
Mike, I soooooo want a Wolfe Ridge splitter! Using my current MTD horizontal/vertical splitter is such a slow and boring chore. I usually put it off all year and then spend back breaking full days splitting. Ughhh... You and the Wolfe Ridge make it look fun and get the job done fast! But...(but), they ARE expensive. I'm sure worth it, buy I gotta save up a long awhile!
The stain really looks nice Mike. I am with you on the spraying to get complete coverage of everything. I am curious about all of those tractor accessories are they interchangeable with all makes and models of the same size that you got them for? Yep beautiful products from Pa. Melissa, Hannah, and Eva. Thanks for sharing your video with us. Hello Hunter. Ed
Another great video. Being a Pa resident I also love the cheery. Harvested, planned and tongue/groved from our land for flooring in our cabin. Also always enjoy your music selections.
Well it’s a subjective call, but Melissa’s smile is one of the BEST things to come out of Pennsylvania! Then the cherry off your mill come next. Howdy from Central Texas!
Good morning Mike and Melissa. Great video Mike, too bad the sprayer didn’t work right. Take it back, they don’t want to sell bad equipment and they won’t know unless enough are returned. A good working sprayer is definitely a time and paint/sealer saver for sure. You’ll have plenty of chances to use the new sprayer around there. Thanks for sharing with us, looking forward to seeing the Morgan’s off the leash segment tomorrow. Fred.
I bought a Graco TrueCoat 360 VSP to stain my wood shed. Was very easy to put down the stain, but I still back-rolled. This was my first time using a sprayer, so maybe a more experienced person would do better. I’m anxious to see how you make out. Good luck!
Great video and I would love to know what color of the stain you used. Cherry is my favorite of all woods to make anything and then it goes, black walnut, red cedar, hickory (for making things and smoking meat and cheese) and then any type of oak.
Mike I hope you get yourself a table saw, you'll also find a radial arm saw to be helpful if you begin getting into a bit more advanced wood working. Sure Melissa would love a custom book case made from Cherry ,grown on the property. I'm a bit older than you and I'm glad I've got my hobbies since I retired
My favorite wood. I live in central pa and we have plenty here. Built an entertainment center and bedroom suite out of it. Burns good to. Only down side, it rots fast in the weather. Thanks for featuring it.
Just an fyi, the center of a long or in this case Kant in hardwood grading terms is called the pith. And is viewed as a defect when grading. Great video and couldn't agree more that cherry is some beautiful wood.
Mike, do you think your winter blend of blade coolant affects the woods ability to accept stain or paint. If I remember correctly, you have some dish detergent and antifreeze in it, as opposed to straight water for summer use.
We used to eat choke cherries when we were kids. Then we moved to the "big city" (Grand Rapids) and I never saw a choke cherry again. I miss living in a small town. Even the small town we lived in has gotten quite big. Can you please post who sings the song that plays while you were running the mill?
I have a ton of those Wild Cherry on my place in the PNW. I hand split everything and that is some hard splitting wood. I have gotten to where I run the tip of my chainsaw down each log to open the bark or it holds that round together like a million rubber bands.
M&M i never saw a sawmill or a lumber in my life (no such trees around here) but i adore and encouraged by watching you after a day's work doing work at home. i'm exhausted and i must do things around here. - a cup of coffee and i get back to work...
what would you say the IBC tote holds in firewood? thanks to you I have picked up 20 totes and filling them with firewood. they are a great way to move firewood when using to heat house. I go through around 15 totes per season, so I am thinking about a face cord per tote.
I used to work on a ripsaw line in a finishing mill here in central PA. One day we had the privilege of working with some 10/4 cherry, 16' long, upwards of 24" wide. Hands-down the most beautiful lumber I've ever seen, and massive on a scale you almost never see anymore. That was a good day.
We made some cabinets out of old cut PA Cherry reclaimed from barn beams and they were wider than that! I never knew it got that big, but it did. And it was truly beautiful wood..
Ordered a Wolferidge last week! Cant wait to get it and start splitting wood. Only thing I was disappointed about the sale was I did not get a discount for having the same last name! lol.... That stain is beautiful on the woodshed.
Now what Mike needs to do is build a wood lathe, powered by Melissa! Lol😅😅😅 kind of like what Roy Overhill uses, good old manual labor to get the blood pumping!
Hey guys patiently waiting for the unveiling of the new tractors, any idea when that might happen mike, I value your opinion on that category. Hope to hear soon, thanks for another great episode, have a day !
That cherry wood does look really nice! But I noticed that it cups or warps at the ends as you began to cut it into boards. I don't remember seeing the red pine do that so noticeably.
Cherry is my favorite also. The knots & “Ys” intrigue me. Have you ever thought of getting a lathe & trying some turning? Love you guys & the videos ❣️
Pump up sprayers are the way to do it. But none of them spray well. Use sprayer in one hand and brush in other. Spray a small spot and immediately brush over it. No need to dip your brush. It all comes from the spray
My mom used to make those but she called them hobo dinners. No matter what you call them, they are delicious. She has been gone 13 1/2 years and I still miss her.
i have said it before put some of that on the floor in your house!! put it on rough and drum sand or belt sand with cut nails then mop the finish o'man is it nice. try it
wow that is nice stain the looks super ! you've inspired me i,m putting up a24x40 pole barn were sawing framing out of nor spruce sheathing & button white pine ! will put some vids on my channel !
Beautiful wood. Every woodworker would love to have some.
I love this stain on the Woodshed Mike, it looks very rustic. Stay safe and God bless
You can really pile up the fire wood now. The saw mill likes to cut the cheery wood. You do an excellent job.
Beautiful wood, nice sunny day, and a chorus of birds chirping in the background. Plus dinner on the table: that's as good as it gets!
Great show, replaced watching the news with watching Outdoors with the Morgans and it gives back so much more! Thanks!!!
Hey Mike, when you are ready to put steel roof on, layout the screw holes and drill the entire stack for screws first.....so much easier and neat. Maybe common knowledge but thought I would share with you

💥 Another great video! Don’t you just love this time of year, warming weather and opportunities to get stuff done.
Keep on Woodmizering 😁👍
My favorite wood working material next to curly maple, and a lot easier to mill. Ages beautifully for sure .
Love the Graco Ultra 16N657. Shed looks amazing. The knots in the siding are beautiful. Whoever said red pine isn't great is nuts!
The best photographed and edited video to date. It should win an award. Easy and pleasant to watch.
I'm in the logging business in Michigan and the sawmills call that center square leftover a "cant". There are special Mills that buy them and saw them for pallet stock.

I've had a Graco X5 for years and it is a great machine. Never had an issue with it as long as you keep them clean after use.
I heat my home 90% with firewood. (I have a heating oil furnace for backup). Mike, you split your wood into the best size for us older folks. I love the smell of cherry! It makes some nice lumber!! That stain looks great too

use the center section of the cherry to make pen blanks. I am sure lots of turners/makers would love to turn that cherry
I love Cherry. At one time I used Cherry to make furniture, rocking horses, toys etc., for my children. Finishes beautifully! So durable and great looking!
My living room floor is the same Red Cherry they are using, nice stuff.
That cherry is beautiful wood I really like your setup mill and splitter I’d like to do something like that so I could source the lumber I want to build some of my own cabinets. Hope you and the family have a great day.

Mike you are right about cherry. As a woodturner I kills me to see you split that cherry for firewood. Cherry is one of my favorite woods to turn.
MIKE IS ONE LUCKY GUY. GR8T FAMILY, LARGE PROPERTY, A GOLD MINE. ALL THE COMFORTS OF A HOME. HE IS BLESSED.
Allen, when i was younger i used to woek 18 hours a day, nowdays after 12 i am dead tired. But mike is working on something almost every day after work. You have eye Melissa! Now we have to find some Morgan hats that are styled more for the ladies. 🤠
Thx for this Mike. Cheers to health, wellness and all you Morgans from up north Vermont.

I've been very happy with my Titan Airless Sprayer, the Impact 440.
That cherry wood is great for cooking on a smoker also as is the maple also
My goal is to support the small businesses in my community. Thank you for the plug regarding the splitter. So glad you are supporting this company!!
Love the soundtracks you have used on this one guys just wondering who picked them as they really compliment your video
I love this channel !!! Always excellent tunes , great ethics , and an amazing family !!! You are good parents . Your children are going to do well in the world , you have prepared them well !!! That cherry is some purdy stuff. I'm a wood turner. Baseball bats and bowls. Cherry is awesome. . Hate to see that good wood going into a fire.
Yes Cherry is a beautiful wood, so is the red pine and knotty pine, I love the character that the knots add to all woods, and some of the cheaper woods have the most character!
You will use the sprayer on the next buildings, and for the house and pool house.
Need to cover those posts and brackets. Awesome videos and shed.

Love foiled dinners. We called them Hobo Dinners growing up. :)
You may want to scout around the job for any older tarps to line the area when spraying. That way you won’t have to worry about overspray. Good luck!
I bought a Graco TrueCoat 360 VSP to stain my wood shed. Was very easy to put down the stain, but I still back-rolled. This was my first time using a sprayer, so maybe a more experienced person would do better. I’m anxious to see how you make out. Good luck!

Nice job boxing the heart. Excellent practice.

I'm a bit older than you and I'm glad I've got my hobbies since I retired
Great video and that Cherry is beautiful, love that mill.
We used to do foil dinners too, best way to cook potatoes! 😋
Hey Hunter! ✋🏻👴🏻
My favorite wood. I live in central pa and we have plenty here. Built an entertainment center and bedroom suite out of it. Burns good to. Only down side, it rots fast in the weather. Thanks for featuring it.

I thought that stain sealer might look better after it dried a while! 👍👍
Good job boxing the heart,a must on hardwood. Like the stain mike gonna be the best looking woodshed
Bit of tension in that log. Cherry is the Best! Couldn't agree more, Mike!
Mike, do you think your winter blend of blade coolant affects the woods ability to accept stain or paint. If I remember correctly, you have some dish detergent and antifreeze in it, as opposed to straight water for summer use.

Always love the music choices. Great video!
Good stuff fella. Thank you for sharing the process.
Nice piece of cherry. Lightly timber bound, but beautiful.
I have a ton of those Wild Cherry on my place in the PNW. I hand split everything and that is some hard splitting wood. I have gotten to where I run the tip of my chainsaw down each log to open the bark or it holds that round together like a million rubber bands.
Really like the stain on the shed
Spraying makes the most sense Mike
Beautiful wood.
Melissa always thinking on releasing the blade tension . I'd always wondered how often Mike forgot to release it,easily overseen.
Another point on using a sprayer is that you are going to build a number of buildings so it’s really a good investment
Foil dinners are the best been doing them for years.
We live in Tennessee, love watching y'alls videos. Have family that lives in Jonestown Pa. HAVE A Day.
Can’t wait to try the foil dinner! Love from Northwest Indiana! 🙏🏻👏👍😉🇺🇸
M&M i never saw a sawmill or a lumber in my life (no such trees around here) but i adore and encouraged by watching you after a day's work doing work at home. i'm exhausted and i must do things around here. - a cup of coffee and i get back to work...

Interesting watching the hardwood vs the pine. A lot more internal stress in the hardwood. However, it is nice wood.

Wood workers ? before Mike uses that cherry heart wood for stickers. Can it be seasoned / dried and used for turning (legs, knell posts)? Thanks
Another video well done. Just like your supper. Don’t you need the debarker on the Cherry trees or is that only used if the wood is dirty?
Ordered a Wolferidge last week! Cant wait to get it and start splitting wood. Only thing I was disappointed about the sale was I did not get a discount for having the same last name! lol.... That stain is beautiful on the woodshed.
Mrs .Morganis THE PRETIEST THING in or out of Pennsylvania!!!!!

Hey guys patiently waiting for the unveiling of the new tractors, any idea when that might happen mike, I value your opinion on that category. Hope to hear soon, thanks for another great episode, have a day !
just identified 2 black cherry trees, by the flowers, on our place. Love.
That cherry wood does look really nice! But I noticed that it cups or warps at the ends as you began to cut it into boards. I don't remember seeing the red pine do that so noticeably.
Cherry is a beautiful wood for hardwood floors. It is not as durable as oak or maple but the most attractive.
Looks great that’s exactly how I would of dissected that log you have some end table legs and tops/drawer fronts
They are bowing you’re cutting with the curve. Not good still looks beautiful. Have a great day.
Just a curious question...does the wood saw better wet or dry? have you seen a difference in the cut?
Shed is looking awesome! Paint sprayers rock!
Cherry is my favorite also. The knots & “Ys” intrigue me. Have you ever thought of getting a lathe & trying some turning? Love you guys & the videos ❣️
Marcus, don't tell him that, he'll never have any money if he gets the turning bug!
Pump up sprayers are the way to do it. But none of them spray well. Use sprayer in one hand and brush in other. Spray a small spot and immediately brush over it. No need to dip your brush. It all comes from the spray
Try adjusting the nozzel to a spray. Mine the nozzel will turn from mist to a stream. Pump up and test to get what is right.
My mom used to make those but she called them hobo dinners. No matter what you call them, they are delicious. She has been gone 13 1/2 years and I still miss her.
Hi Mike pretty sure the tips on the sprayer are adjustable, mine are .Great show
i have said it before put some of that on the floor in your house!! put it on rough and drum sand or belt sand with cut nails then mop the finish o'man is it nice. try it
wow that is nice stain the looks super ! you've inspired me i,m putting up a24x40 pole barn were sawing framing out of nor spruce sheathing & button white pine ! will put some vids on my channel !
