you are so spot on about the XR series bikes being indestructible. I had a 1986 XR-250, a 1990 XR-250 and a 1996 XR-400 and beat the ever living snot out of them. Not once did any of them leave me stranded in the woods while riding. The engines never missed a beat and the only thing I ever did to the motors was change the oil when needed.
2016 XR650L here got it new in sept 16’. But I just “uncorked” by putting on a big gun, de-smogged, jetted, new chain, oil change & new bark busters last month & it’s a totally different beast now.
I didn’t really want to do it because I thought it had enough power as is from factory. But!!!! You KAPLAN gave me the confidence by responding to a comment I made about me not being so sure about uncorking the bike. THANK YOU! Glad I took your advice.

Really nice, we had a XR500 years ago. My brother sheared off the kickstarter one day, he was a beast. I had to jump start it for awhile.

Beautiful bike. They always have been. Back in my 20s I had a Honda XR 200 R and I registered it and boy did I have a blast. Able to jump onto the trail and then back onto the street and then back onto the trail… This one is gorgeous. 650cc and pre-uncorked and dialed in for the next owner! Pretty sure that this one is "Kaplan America approved"!!! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Great Video Sr.! I Have a98 XR650L that I did a ton of mods to and i love it! Did pretty much the same engine mods you guys did to your 670 build and was neat to see that my dyno numbers were very close to the Kaplin Dyno!

I had a klr650 with laser pipe. It was very reliable and sounded great. Only downside was highway riding, but great for everything else.
In the nicest way possible, it kind of sounds like a Harley - four stroke hybrid. Amazing growl
Never rode one of them, but raced moto-x many yrs late 70s up. One of the baddest bikes I ever straddled was a Yamaha TT-500.

There are always a couple of these at Hollister Hills just shredding every trail on the map. If you want a bigger bike that can trail ride this is better than a KLR.

I had a 1986 XR600 bought new, almost anyone could ride endless wheelies on those things, i raced it in a few hare scrambe races, no one could touch me in the straight aways , hold it wide open & shift 😂
what an absolute beauty. i've got it's grandma (pa?) my little baby 1980 XL250s. wich i love to bits. so a bigger version i've allways thought would be amazing. an XL 600 would be great, KLR, DR, XT etc would do fine. but (as a mechanic) i think this engine is a masterpiece.

I had a 1997XR650L. Wheelie machine. Still have the Pro circuit platinum slip on for it. Mine was always hard to start.
NOS tank just looks pretty freakin' fresh on that bike

Isn't this guy Justin, the guy that you bought many bikes from him in the past, where he had about 30 bikes lined up in front of his house and garage? I remember the guy saying he would love to work for you as a parts manager, because he had to order so many parts of his own, for all of his bikes. If this is the same guy, and he sure looks like it, all of his collection of bikes that he sold you were Mint, and he had many replacement parts to go with each bike. Great Video, Brother. ML&R

Awesome dude, with insane talent ans maturity for being so young. I've never known anybody that owned 5 bikes, much less 5 turbo bikes. Happy to hear that the Manic Mechanic has decided to work for y'all longer. By the time he 100% retires, he'll have taught Justin everything he knows, which could make Justin your most valuable and knowledgable A Tech, along with the other highly talented techs y'all already have. I'm looking forward to seeing Justin's Turbo CB 750.

Is the big gun exhaust a silencer, or a muffler? One is just sheet metal and other things (baffles) and the other has fiberglass packing that needs to be replaced every so often. Looking for the low-maintenance exhaust that's not going to be as heavy as the stock one. TIA
Notice the low revs while pulling wheelies... try that on a modern mx'er. Low end torque they put out!

First atv i ever rode wuz an old tri-z 50 automatic 3 wheeler 2 stroke. Riding doubles one day I went through a barb wire fence and my homey got clotheslined in the face, brutal. Split his lip pretty bad good times
