    this seems like a very good idea, but i wonder whether you wouldn't struggle with the hands turning away - those balls for the magnets seem to have relatively little friction and turn easily

      This is probably the one and only real issue with these that I've noticed when working with them. You'll likely have to readjust them a bit as you work to keep things like wires straight, but that's easy enough. Overall, the tool is well worth the price! It's certainly better than pretty much every other alligator clip monstrosity out there, though I haven't tried any of the ones with flexible arms. After getting one of these, I likely won't need to, either.

      No, they are surprisingly solid and to be fair, the same can be said of those other useless "helping hands". This is FAR superior in every measurable way...
