    Gosh man, feels good to know someone else has had the same experience. Been rained-out two out of two visits... and it's not exactly a short trip for me. Still no Copperhead Strike or Hurler because of it.
    I more or less echo your assessment of the Carowinds lineup, except that I somehow found Vortex to be freaking great! Thanks for the vid.

    Carowinds is a total bucket list park for me, I’d love to get here someday. I wish my home park had enough space for a top 4 like Carowinds, but I don’t think that’ll ever happen.

    • @emilybreneman2140
      @emilybreneman2140 3 года назад

      Spike Vicious Knott’s Berry Farm. There’s not much space for anything, let alone a new coaster. Maybe they could take out coast rider the shin splitter and put something there.

      @emilybreneman2140 3 года назад +1

      Spike Vicious Knott’s has added compact family coasters for a long time, and hangtime was their first big thrill coaster in 14 years. And wow cedar point, I’d love to get out there and Kings island too.

    • @emilybreneman2140
      @emilybreneman2140 3 года назад +1

      Spike Vicious ofc I think all the parks are operating at least a little different this year. At least CP and kings island are open, the CA parks are all closed lol.

    • @emilybreneman2140
      @emilybreneman2140 3 года назад

      Spike Vicious yeah I suppose. With CA it’s a little understandable, there’s LOTS of people here so our reopenings have been considerably slower than most places.

    • @emilybreneman2140
      @emilybreneman2140 3 года назад

      Spike Vicious that’s ok I rant a lot too lol. Yeah I agree that people should go outside to stay healthy and the ca governor is very controlling and totalitarian. I do think the parks here could open with controlled capacity, virtual queues, mobile order food, frequent sanitizing, you know the usual stuff nowadays. Hell some of the parks here are circumventing the theme park restrictions. Sea world just has the animal exhibits and Knott’s has a food showcase (why Disneyland doesn’t do this is ridiculous.) but the governor has been delaying the release of the parks guidelines for at least two month now.

    Last time I went to Carowinds, it was Paramount and Night hawk was Borg at the time, I was lucky enough to get a front row ride on it as they were doing assigned seating at the time. I enjoyed that coaster, although I was hanging in the restraint most of the ride, I could feel the car jerking around above me. Also it was 99 degrees, with 100% humidity and sunny that day.

    My family and I like to hit up Carowinds every couple of years when we go on vacation, it really never disappoints. We went in 2014 for the first time on a rainy day and there was absolutely nobody in the park. We basically marathoned every ride we got too. Only ride we did once was vortex, even the kiddie coasters we did at least twice. Then Fury opens up the next year so we go back. Ever since we always go on a super hot day, we’ve gone to the water park which also does not disappoint. Honestly this park is right up there with the big ones, it’s a really good park that’s always somehow slipped past some peoples radars, been there about 5 times now and still a Park that leaves you wanting to come back again

    I think Carowinds is a good park for the Carolinas especially considering their water park, Scarowinds starting at the end of September, and Winterfest in December. All of those makes it super dynamic. I used to work there, so I don’t think they have anymore room for another coaster after Copperhead Strike unless they keep removing games or the County Fair area.

    I’m so glad I have this park as my home park! It’s really turned me into a coaster enthusiast after I got over my fear of coasters and they do honestly have a decent line up. For me personally, Nighthawk is one of my least faves along with Vortex and Hurler 😅 I usually always get a headache now when riding any of them and that might just be from getting older 😩 I think it’d be great for them to either get rid of Nighthawk and Vortex and put something else like a GCI woodie or even a RMC Raptor like you mentioned or RMC Hurler! Thankful that I’m a Gold Season Pass holder cuz I typically get to avoid the rainy days! Hope when they open next year that you’ll get to come back and maybe we’ll run into each other 😁 Keep up the great work dude!!!

    I was there in 2017 at the very beginning of fall. I went on about 1.5 hours of sleep after driving there from Erie PA. It was a great park, Fury is incredible, Afterburn is very good, and Intimidator is fine (it would probably seem better if Fury wasn't in the park). Almost everything was walk on and Vortex can be demolished and I wouldn't care at all.
    I think your assessment is correct, nice park that is pretty top heavy and a modern wood coaster would be great for the park.

    The key for any theme park as an enthusiast is to keep two eyes on the weather forecast and target a date outside of summer that is cooler and not a Saturday/Sunday (so the lines aren't long) but not stormy or rainy. Ideally you get a nice 60 degree weekday with no precip or storms. I got to marathon Steel Vengeance 17 times in one evening on a Thursday night during Halloweekends this past fall (2022) for this reason. Beautiful weather, maybe a little too cold for the average GP, but I love cold weather, can't stand the heat. Those Halloweekend Thursdays just are not popular for the GP.

    Its my home park and it does rain there quite often. Of the last 4 times I went it rained twice, one was a wash out the other wasn't too bad and I got to marathon copper head strike (it was winter fest so that and afterburn were the only coasters going and on a sunny day its a 2 hour wait so I figured I'd get as many as I could) but be glad you hit those days because the sunny days there can have some crazy wait times.

    It does rain at Carowinds fairly frequently and I too know the pain of Fury 325 front row seats in the rain. Carowinds has almost always been weird when it comes to attendance either everything being a walk on or hour long wait. It's not like, for example Hersey Park where I've never seen that park empty. As a reference I never recommend visiting Carowinds during Scarowinds if you want to ride anything. November is almost always dead and everything is open the first half of the month but that is when it starts to get too cold to ride Fury.

    It rained the evening I arrived, and found everything closed. It rained at some point all 3 full days afterwards as well. I got plenty of rides on Fury, but it was a bad experience. People have told me that it was running at its absolute worst that week, running extremely rough and painful. I hoped to redeem that experience this year, but that'll have to wait. In the meantime, Fury maintains its free-fall in my rankings. Still, I totally loved Carowinds as a whole. Their waterpark is also excellent. It's my 3rd favorite Cedar Fair park behind CP & KD.

    Since you asked what I would like to see at Carowinds in the future (in no particular order)...
    1. GCI replacing Dino's Alive
    2. RMC Hurler (I don't care if it's a clone of KD's or an original layout, it needs something)
    3. Floorless Vortex (I personally think CP's Mantis/Rougarou was greatly improved when they replaced the standup trains to floorless trains)
    4. B&M Flyer replacing Nighthawk, Kiddy Hawk, and RipCord (I know this is a little out there to replace a flyer with another flyer, but I personally think Nighthawk flat out sucks, and I think a new big ol' B&M in that location would do wonders for Carowinds. That and I would like another ride for my father to fit on comfortably at this park)

So many parks to go next year but we had to see if 2021 could be a good year that time i hope.

    I hope they get a GCI. I'd also love a RMC Hurler that's different from TT

    Intimidator is my favorite ride there, actually. But Fury 325 was almost too intense for me although it was incredibly fun while on it. It was the first coaster I ever rode that actually made me feel motion sickness afterwards. I didn't get to ride Afterburn when I was there unfortunately. I'd love to go again so I could ride it and try riding Fury again and hope I don't feel too bad afterwards, haha.

    I went to carowinds in the rain too during 2019. Unfortunately I got sick so I had to leave early. I hate that because even when it was pouring they didn't close the rides once.

    carowinds is missing 3 things:
    -rmc hurler, lots of people are hoping they dont just clone twisted timbers but honestly they would just end up with endless comparisons and we already know twisted timbers is good so just clone it and then call it warped lumber or something and give it a different track color
    -really good wooden coaster. gci or gravity group, but cci can do great things sometimes too. we dont need something as spectacular as mystic timbers or voyage, just give us something with the wooden feel thats not too rough and has good moments
    -a good family coaster that isnt woodstock. i don't know what this could be, but something that's like a stepping stone between a mine train and a b&m hyper.

    Nighthawk is my #5 at Carowinds! I'd love to see a wooden launched coaster that breaks the wooden height and speed record!

    I was supposed to go this year, but sadly they never opened. I really hope that next year Vortex and Nighthawk are still open since they probably won't last much longer.

    I was going to visit this park in a loop around the Appalachians this month, but the border is still closed so I'm going to Florida in February instead.

    I went back in July 2017 on a Monday, perfect weather and everything, and it was dead, longest I waited was about 5 mins for Carolina Cylcone, everything else was a walk on or a 2-3 minute wait, I asked a local and he said it is usually like that on Monday, so next time I go I'm definitely going on a Monday

    Carowinds is my home park and the truth is that it barely rains here it’s mostly clear sky’s here and the waits for Fury actually can get up to 40 minute waits and same thing for Intimidator, Afterburn, and copperhead strike and 90 minutes for Nighthawk

    I love this park let’s give it a lineup that can rival CP, I see this park as the upcoming flagship yes even more so than CP

    Carowinds is a great park. It can use depth. If you want to see it busy visit during their holiday event around Christmas. I think the park should RMC Hurler and get a GCI Wooden coaster. I think that might be the end for Nighthawk and hopefully Vortex. Your thoughts on a lot of the rides are similar to mine although I think I like Copperhead more than you, but I still have it 4th.

    For me it was good. I was also stopping over and went the day after I went to Busch gardens Williamsburg on my way to Atlanta. I like it a lot but of course it needs some good mid tier rides, something where I think a comparable park like kings island succeeds. Even parks like kings dominion have rides such as avalanche, dominator, grizzly, and rebel yell to round out their top two a little better. But Carowinds has a great top 4 and then just the huge drop. Other than that I enjoyed the food offerings and considered it some of the best in the chain especially in serving size. Overall I would return but if it were me choosing between say having Carowinds or Kings Island as a home park? I’d for sure choose kings island which is my current home park. I think Carowinds and kings dominion are about on par with pros and cons to compare while kings island bridges the gap between those two and cedar point. Between what could be considered large regional park and nationally recognizable regional park.

    I’ve ridden Fury front row in the pouring rain. I can absolutely imagine how bad it hurts. It’s like dozens of needles being driven into your face every second.

    I can't believe how lucky I was with my visits to Kings Dominion and Carowinds during the second week of June 2019. Both parks were not very busy and I didn't really wait for much of anything. At Carowinds I waited half hour for my one ride on Nighthawk and 20 minutes and 30 minutes for a couple of my rides on Copperhead Strike. However, I pretty much walked on Copperhead almost every time I rode it. Fury was pretty much a walk on for all of my seven rides too. I think I might have waited five minutes max for one of my rides. Of course that Fury crew is unbelievable with ops!

    its actually almost the same exact amount of space as twisted timbers. they could definitely fit a small rmc like It.

    Carowinds is so much fun! It was my first Cedar Fair park and it didn't disappoint! I rode 5 rides there, Intimidator once, Copperhead Strike once, Nighthawk once, Afterburn once, and Fury 325 11 times... Yeah I think Fury 325 got me good. XD 11 times in the span of 2 days. In fact on the 2nd day since I rode all the rides I wanted to the first day (it was rainy so the crowds went away. XD) it was reride time! And... ALL OF THEM WENT TO FURY 325! XD Should have ridden Intimidator more... :P

    Without Fury I’d never return to carowinds. I’d drive 4 hours to just to ride fury even if it was in the middle of a parking lot. #1a Steel Coaster 1b is Steel Vengeance can’t decide. Both are pure bliss
