I still find the flavour of Breach the Door to be absolutely hilarious. You're kicking the door down of the room that you're already in just to allow some extra light in.
Mark Harrigan: "There, now that door is open" Minh Thi Phan: "That wasn't the door I wanted you to open!" *points to a Locked Door* "Why couldn't you have used it on that?" Mark: "You don't understand. Those sorts of doors, whenever I see one I just know I can't pull tricks. It wouldn't be sporting. If I have to take it on it has to be with my fists alone" Minh: "Trish, are you hearing what I am hearing? Just use your Lockpicks on it!" Trish Scarborough: "No, you don't understand! These doors are legendary in the profession. It is considered an honour to be able to unlock one of these with just a metal toothpick. I would be forever shamed if I were to use actual lockpicking tools on it" Minh: "I give up"
Kicking the Hornet's Nest is my favourite splash card for Zoey. If there are small enemies like Acolytes or Whippoorwills you can just snipe them with your cross to gain a clue and a resource or you hunt out the XP enemy to kill.
Woooww! I made exactly this deck for Zoey for perfect Midnight Masks run with 6 cultists! Nice to see this opinion. KtHN for me is one overgood card of TSK
I'm a bit higher on Grim Memoir than I was a year ago. At first I thought it was just bonkers in Daisy, Rex, and probably Harvey, and only okay elsewhere, but now I'm pretty sure that +2 boost is relevant in anyone who can take it. It's hard to push out Magnifying Glass, but if you can spare the handslot for both, Grim Memoir is really, really good. I'm down on End of the Road. I just can't fit it into a deck and it's awkward for it to sit in hand all game.
I absolutely agree on Breaching the door and Kicking the hornets Nest. I had Breach as one of my 5 basic cards for Lily Chen in our second try on the Scarlet Keys and it just overperformed and had a couple of crucial used, that it almost felt a bit like cheating. Another great thing is that it can go under your Stick to the plan, which is just an absolute joy If you know you only need the card in a specific location. Great card!
Definitely much higher on Chalice now. It was incredible to use especially when agenda will be flipping anyway. It saved more than one investigator for me
I know you aren’t doing investigators, but Carson wins for underrated TSK card imo. He went from meme category before play to strong after people have played him.
My initial rating for Carson was a 4 which is probably still what I'd give him today (maybe 4.5 if I was feeling particularly nice). I agree though, the average rating chat gave Carson a year ago was a 3.
Totally agree. Personally, I also wasn’t sure that Charlie is going to be strong, thought his ally setup is going to be too clunky… and then I won several campaigns with him, casually taking tests while being 15 (!) up, just cause I had untapped allies at the end of my turn. Pairing him with Gloria for one campaign felt like cheating
Always fun to revisit cards we were wrong about, love this style of video. I agree with you about all these cards except Kicking The Hornet's Nest; my opinion of that card started high and has only gone up the more I play it.
Fantastic video. I would lean more towards 3.0 for Breach the Door and Map the Area and 3.5 Kicking the Hornet's Nest. Otherwise I agree with your revised rankings and am certainly in line 100% with which way you have the cards trending. Great work, Justin!
One in the Chamber seems extra nice when you run out of ammo while still engaged. Nice to get one more shot and not have to take an AoO by playing your backup weapon. That stress is big reason why I always lean more towards melee weapons. I guess I have to try a gun build now?
I have had a few bad experiences of Kicking the Hornets Nest spawning enemies we were not equipped to deal with. I would not play it in Edge of the Earth again. I just prefer On the Hunt as it does not take up an action and it replaces what could have been a bad encounter card for a Guardian like Frozen in Fear.

kicking down the door so the rogues can lockpick it more easily

Kicking the Hornet's Nest in Parallel Roland with Red Tape to make it fast is insanely good. I even put it on my Stick to the Plan.

Glad you did this video. Makes sense, the new ratings.
I'm doing a campaign with kymani and I use kicking the hornets nest a lot, but generally I only draw a 1 health enemy 😅
I liked Kicking the Hornet’s Nest within my true solo Tony Morgan deck! Drawing the enemy wasn’t as scary as expected.

I played kicking the hornets nest in Mark Harrigan and it was great, but yeah, I guess in most rogues it's not really
Look at Russell, the little baby!
Assuming Kate can take Kicking the Hornet's Next, it would be equally weak I think.
The important question: has Russell's ratings changed?
This was really interesting
Awesome Co-host
