Djokovic already has someone 'new' in his corner. A Serbian tennis player and friend he has known for 20 years, by the name of Nenad Zimonjic, nickname "ZIKI". Goran Ivanisevic said of him: "He is a great friend of mine, we went through a lot together and I love him. He has vast tennis knowledge, but what is more important - he knows Novak really well. Ziki can help him tennis-wise. Novak does know everything already, but it will be refreshing for him to maybe hear the same thing from someone else with a different approach. Ziki knows Novak's mentality really well, they collaborated in the Davis Cup as well."
Federer also had a run without a coach, it didn't help him at all. I think no matter how good you are, you need to have a coach if only to reassure you.
My thoughts: Novak is nearing the end, and seeing how he appreciates a story and emotions, it would be a great story if he ends his career with the same man who was with him when he started and has been a constant - Marian Vajda. Marian Vajda will be back.
Novak loves all things tennis, and a major part of pro tennis is the player coach dynamic. It’s like being able to observe your self playing when you really can’t. And just two minds coming together to make the most of it. And it’s probably more fun to have a coach you respect.
Andy you should coach Novak just because you said you do not know what to say to him. This amount of respect would make you a great coach. He only needs a bit of planning and a few good words from the stands in the right time. 😅 You would have the best and the worst time.😂
In spite of all your good comments on not going outside the lines too much, it would be really a hoot to have Brad Gilbert as his coach! Talk about a challenge to Novak to implement other tactics... It might totally backfire, however.... LOL
Listening to Roddick, who's insightful and interesting, just further reaffirms my opinion, that NOBODY comes even close to in-depth analysis of tennis game as does Gill Gross
The most qualified person to coach Novak, especially at this stage of his career, is the gentleman who at nearly 38 years of age came within a whisker's whisker of knocking him over in the 2019 Wimbledon final. Get Roger in there - it would be nice for their occasionally fractious relationship to culminate in a bromance ... or more, who knows?
Novak does not need a coach. The next step is to replace his corner/personal cheer section with an expanded inner space that would exhibit only a silent calculating mind at work. Novak should look inside and find the space to contain it all. He becomes everyone, the ball becomes everything, and there is no one else there.
The smartest choice would be to hire Rogger Federer. The only other tennis player who has been in a similar situation and probably one of the few coaches who can out smart Djokovich.
Andy you should be coaching either Alicya Parks, or Hailey Baptiste They are great athletes and you could add a ton of value. Coco Gauff is great but these women physically are at least her equal when it comes to physical gifts. Parks probably has the best serve on the women's tour. There's alot to work with here. These women will not break through in the way they could unless they get the right coaching. It's always great to hear your insights. As far as Novak goes, he doesn't really need a coach at this point. Someone like Becker is the perfect choice.
novak has had a good run...let some new players have their moment...including Rafa...What's the point? To continue hearing accolades, at 40 years old...Lol
Some reports say he is banned from the UK for 10 years. Others say he could be allowed back in October this year. Personally I look forward to him commentating again. He's very entertaining!
Novak's only focus this season is the Olympics, of which Goran would not be eligible to be a part of his team for that, because Goran is not Serbian, therefore he's not needed.
@@kevingilhooley2064 Are you sure? I was under the impression that, in the Olympics, even the team (including the coach) had to be of the same nationality as the player.
@@omabdulgani ...coaches at the Olympics have often been of a different nationality to the country they're hired by....Steven Redgrave ..a Brit former Olympian was coaching the Chinese rowers and many Canadian skating coaches have done the same for other countries....tennis has only just been reintroduced to the Olympics but the same rules apply.
I'm stunned guys that you are tennis experts and are not seeing writing on the wall, that father time has come and not going away for Novak. Measure the strokes and speed, power of Alc and Sinn and get a reality check that he never played that well, and will never be able to catch it up. The fact that he won last year 3 GSs doesn't mean anything, you should know that past performances are NOT guaranteing future ones... btw, I love Novak to death but he is DONE, overwhelmed by youngsters, weather i want to admit that or not.
So Andy what happened with Brad Gilbert? You were still #2 in the world ... was there a need to fight someone who took you to #1 helping you impose a brutal power game with a monstrous serve + a huge forehand? Whatever it was, but in 2005 you started playing topspinned tennis that wasn't your thing, I don't know if it was Goldfine or Stefanki's imposition but frankly It ruin you brother. I never again saw you hit that flat FH, a once God - gifted weapon where you put all the weight of your body on with complete rotation of your shoulders and hips ... Afterwards your FH was just all wrist. You could have combined it too, but no, you never killed a FH again. A shame. You didn't have to try to improve the backhand. It was sustaining your strengths, having consistency in your strengths. You also looked very skinny after 2005, like you went on a diet that made you lose strength. In 2003 and 2004 you were exuberant and intimidating. In 2005 Lacoste arrived and you hid under a cap forever, wristing your FH and looking skinnier. The shirts were too big for you. Or were those Lacoste so huge that they made you look skinnier? ... i think the diet you took made you lose a lot of fat, fat that had helped you to have power in your game. You should have stayed the same as you were, and also shown your beautiful face, so that the world would have known more of your wonderful face. That would have brought even more fans and sponsorships, something that somehow helps intimidate rivals a little. You should have taken off that F. cap Andy!!!
Djokovic has 24 Grand Slams! It's burned into all of our brains. Andy! What were you thinking? Probably just a brain fart. We all have them. What blows my mind is that winning even one Grand Slam is a Herculean feat, as you would know. Novak could've easily had 2 more Grand Slams under his belt but that's water under the bridge. Right now it's one foot in front of the other but, like hitting the line's judge in the throat, Djokovic firing Ivanisevic is a grave mistake. Djokovic's entitlement is going to be a headwind going into the French. Still, he's got to get to 25!
Goat is not motivated and is slightly emotionally exhausted after so many years of dominance. I am afraid he may walk away for something better than tennis he may want to invest his time and energy into. Its pretty clearly evident from his body language these days. Good news and respite finally for the whining and ever crying and haters, FEDAL fanbase. 😅
Thanks andy sir ❤

Who would benefit more, Djokovic, Roger, his kids?
You are delusional, Roger hates Novak
Even if Roger were interested (and that's a big "if"), he's made it clear he wants to spend time with his family.
