Spent 17 years two weeks pit holidays in yates street North shore this lady brought back some wonderful memories back and some of the changes Like Yates loved the piers they haven't changed much at first I thought this isn't up to much I must say how wrong I was Thanx Mrs....:)
Another great video, thank you, we must be of a similar age as i remembered what you were talking about the clouds on tv, great views i love Blackpool, missing coming down this year but you make it a bit easier being able to see it all in its glory x
Took a photo of my hubby sticking his head through the hole in the board, the one near to the toilets, the cafe playing music is nice inside, worth going in to look at the framed pictures on the walls of pop stars.
When me and the kids were there in August I bought £20 worth of tickets on the central Pier because there were 11-years old there was only the big wheel for them to go on everything else was for four year olds so I ended up giving the tickets away to some woman with a few little kids with her But to me the ride on the big wheel twice was worth every penny
There is something so eerie about a pier fairground out of season with few people, I felt that when the camera panned to take in the sea view that there ought to have been thick sea mist! I have only been on this pier in mid season with bustling crowds, trying to keep my walking stick out of trouble! I dearly wish I could have been aboard a steamer bound for the Isle of Man and seen the Tower loom into view on the return.I wonder if the steam paddle vessel Waverley ever visited? I am looking forward to the webpage about the pier linked in the description!
@@visitfyldecoast Indeed, very pertinant :) I have enjoyed the VFC page about the pier and the extra page about the steamer excursions. Interesting to see the picture of the paddle steamer; so like the Waverley! I am in awe of the informaton you have garnered over so many pages over ten years and how well it is all presented Jane. It is an historical encyclopaedia of the Fylde Coast and I wish a body such as the University of Lancashire could provide monies to help curate it. Where does the BFI archive get its funding from? Much more than the sum of its parts.
I reckon right the Police are looking for the Thumbs down Person lol, I remember right Jane going on Big Wheel with my mum & Sister in the 80s No way again No way 4:55 Vertigo no way no way Jane or looking over the edge threw the Cracks & you can see the Water or Sand under Pier Vertigo is no friend of mine I can tell you pal !
It's a rather shabby structure with a sense of decay and neglect. The walkway is rotten in places, it only gets repaired when absolutely necessary. The abject rust on all the metalwork is the result of more long term neglect. It's typical of so many of business in Blackpool, take the money, spend it on flash cars and homes abroad but in no way invest it back in your business.

You should have kept going round and round and used up your tickets! But I bet the woman's kids enjoyed them.
@@visitfyldecoast the woman offered me money for the tickets but I declined and Josh one of the 11-year olds felt great given the tickets to her .
With your fear of heights, I'm guessing we won't be getting a tour of the Pleasure Beach any time soon?
Mmm. That all depends. But there won't be any roller coaster riding!!

That made me think about the Stephen King novel 'It'. Now that's a good book/film if you like that kind of thing!

what happens if you havent got a mobile phone like me can you still get into central pier?
Think they're doing it manually - you won't be the only one!
