I remember the red and white milestone and those white from 100m to another 100m, and the bumps from the roads, those who punish me each time I didn't pay attention to the road. Yes, it was a beautiful sunday when I made that journey from a country willage with only plane and large horizont to rich the hills and the ever amaizing forest which ever miss me. That was a really long way to ride even it was no highway below wheels. Thans for listening & I`m waiting for comment on images: it`s wellknown that Mark Knopfler is great, if he would`n be i`d never have chouse any of his songs, but I wonder if someone finaly will see that my channel is about images and the compatibility or not between music and film.

I am constantly amazed at the sheer number of really good songs Mark Knopfler has written. I can only think of ONE song he has recorded that I do not like, and that is My Parties on the STP album. One out of hundreds? Wow.
i agree with you, Mark Knopfler is really great and high in his performance. Isn`t this our luck? +TSL He is my absolute favorite ARTIST. Not everyone in music can claim that title. This man writes the lyrics/music and cradles it until the final song emerges. THAT is an artist in my opinion! He is a fountain of brilliance and talent that has been flowing for decades and has no sign of going dry!!

Thanks for the upload! This song's pretty mysterious; it doesn't appear on any copy of Sailing To Philadelphia, neither is it on Spotify or any other streaming service. My best guess is that it's a song that was produced for STP but discarded. Regardless, it's rather beautiful in a haunting way. Definitely another fantastic Mark Knopfler composition :)
It was originally released as the B-side to the single What It Is. It will be included in the forthcoming box set The Studio Albums 1996-2007.

danradu leaf : Yep, so many gems Mark has...& overall great job on the homemade video. Great landscapes to go with the great song. Was that of the highways of southern New Mexico by chance? Off of 26? The only slight critique (though there's really not much of a way at all to avoid it, it ain't your fault), is that most of the cars & trucks passing along so much more modern now they almost steal away from the classic feel Mark's voice & guitar. Again, nothing you could have done to change that the ways this world turns now some vehicles even part themselves!!! It just would have been so much more fitting to have viewed this from an old fashioned Jeep Wagoneer to where the highways were desolate. Just sayin'...But still, a great job. A very honest one, actually.

I first heard this song on a boot cd i got from some guy in around 2001. it was from a live show in france i think. mark introd it by saying he thinks it will be on the next album which would have been stp however, for whatever reason it didn't make the cut. great song though
