I have had this helmet for two and a half full seasons and it's always been perfect. No concussions. No headaches. It's always comfortable. It is lightweight. I play wide receiver and corner. I also use the xrs-21 mask for it and I love it.
Managed to get myself an X2E with a prowl facemask. Atfer trying on numerous helmets in my team, this is the lightest helmet I've ever worn! I play DB (Free Safety), so with a prowl face mask, I expected this helmet to be heavy on the head, with it sitting so far away from the head! But no, It fits, feels & protects the way I expect a helmet to do. Thank you I know football, for a great review. The best buy for this season so far!

Shadownightclawclan It won't let me reply you ..thats why i never reply your comments. But Adult and Youth helmets are made of different materials. IF you are high school and older you must use an Adult helmet for proper protection.
I had an X2 last year and I loved it! Best helmet I ever had. The only knock on it was the comfort pads were hard to clean and started to smell bad. These new ones make this the best helmet EVER! And those face masks are SICK! Moving on to college next year and I will be getting an X2e

Yes Titanium is significantly lighter than Carbon Steele. Only you can decide if it's worth it to you or not. And yes the CLS is noticeable lighter as well.
Hey my man, I bought this helmet for my 8 yr old for his first season of tackle a few days ago. I love the helmet in theory but once we got home and really got into fitting this thing correctly the jaw pads are REALLY close to his ears (going down a size is'nt an option for his head circumference). I wanted to avoid inflatable helmets because I hear they leak after 30 mins of play. I may end up getting him a Speed or 360 at this point despite their weight and inflation. Keep the videos coming, I've learned a great deal from you.
Hi Sean, do the jaw pads bother his ears at all? The jaw pads should be close the face. Without the chin strap buckled, the helmet shouldn't rotate without pulling the skin when the helmet is rotated with the hand (by grabbing the face mask). Also only faulty jaw pads lose air. Which you can contact Riddell for the replacement.
I Know Football The X2E is a bit loose without the chinstrap buckled. It's just a bad fit for now. He's at the low end of a medium (circumference wise) for the X2E. I'm going to go with the Speed for now. I got my hands on some 1.25" jaw pads in the store and the fit is firm and I'll see what the inflation does for us. Also found out there is an optional inflatable crown liner for the Speed. Any opinion on this? Thanks for the help.
The inflatable liner will ensure a better fit therefore increasing safety. I also mispoke on the fitting of the helmet before. The xenith is different because the chinstrap tightens everything. all other helmets shouldn't shift without the chinstrap buckled. The xenith shouldn't shift AFTER the chinstrap is buckled. This may mean you need to adult the snaps to make the helmet tighter.
Hi I was wondering what helmet I should get. I'm going into high school and gonna play for the freshman team and eventually the JV and maybe Varsity. I ended up buying the an sgh helmet. You should really check these out. And do a review on these. I watch your videos religiously but ended up buying the lightest helmet made. I'd really like to hear your review after you wear one of these helmets in a game. My son loves his, so far he has only been wearing them in 7/7 games. But the helmet is so light and I bought him the nike air flex db shoulder pads per your advice. He is now almost 4lbs lighter in gear than most of the other kids on the field. He's tearing up the 7/7. Please try to get a sgh helmet and review it love to hear your thoughts. It's completely different from the other helmets in weight.

i have two questions on this X2E please: First thing is: i tried it on and had those two black "pads" directly on my temples. The vendorguy said this is bad because of knock outs. Was he right? Second question is: a Teammember of me had this helmet and on a frontal/facemask hit the helmet slipped down and the forehead-part broke his nosebone. do you think that came from not fitting the helmet correctly or what other reason? because i really wait for the "epic" but that one has the same fitting system.

Have you seen the new XFlexion shoulder Pads from Xenith? They look VERY interesting! But back to helmets. Long time follower here and I really appreciate your insight. I realize much of this is preference but outside of that would you say one or the other (X2E vs Vengeance Elite) provided you with more protection? Im looking at getting the newer 2014 Vengeance with a titanium mask for my son (he liked his old vengeance but it was heavy and I need to replace it) but your review of the X2E gave me pause to consider another option. But ultimately light weight and excellent protection are what I am looking for....I can handle the price.
I've seen the XFlex and will be doing that review in May I believe. TOUGH decision with Vengeance and the X2E. I would actually get an Epic (Coming out April/May) over the X2E. It has even better protection properties and comfortable should be very good as well. I think between the two it would be a toss up. If the Vengeance fit him very well I would go with the 2014 Vengeance with titanium facemask.

"Wes Welker Looks Like Dark Helmet From Space Balls" ...Bleacher Report posted a very interesting article with that title on Facebook about a special Riddell helmet that Wes Welker has been wearing today in the Brocos v Chargers playoff game. I thought you may want to talk about it on your channel or look into it at some point. It really caught my attention. You may know about Wes Welker's multiple concussions this season that included a hit across the middle of the field.
It not really a special helmet. Its a normal 360…just with more padding. Its pretty simple actually, the more padding you stuff into a helmet, the more it will protect you. Thats why the best performing helmets are large offsets (Riddell, Schutt, Rawlings, and Xenith all have large offsets). In his case, he may have went with an XL 360 and put more padding (NOT AIR) in the helmet. Riddell actually sells additional padding to put into the helmet so that you don't have to use air to inflate which doesn't protect as much.
I only review this stuff for you guys to decide what to buy lol. There is absolutely kno reason why i need so many helmets. With that being said I will try to review the Epic.

I investigated fully the best youth helmets on the market and decided on the X2E. When I got it and tried it on my grandson the pads for the jaw hit both ears. What a disappointment! His head measured 21.5 inches and a medium was ordered( same size the Riddell he uses) What went wrong? Sure wanted to put him in this helmet! !

I was wondering about that. From the research I did during my son's first Fball season this past fall, I discovered that no helmet can possibly elminate concussions because of the internal anatomy of the brain and structure of the human neck. The neck's whiplash effect and the internal shearing that occurs during the brain's reaction to linear and rotational forces cannot be prevented. Welker's helmet may have just given him more confidence or reduced the effect of the smaller hits that contributes to CTE over a player's career. I do wonder if the force of a frontal rotational impact can indeed be curtailed with the Xenith bonnet and shearing reduction design. I know about this because my son took a frontal hit to the lower facemask and I researched it.. I have good slo mo video of it.
Do you know if these facemasks are interchangeable or are they for xenith only? if they are fro only xenith helmets would they work on the X2? I've been doing research and can't find answers -.-

if you are going to get a xenith the new xenith epic i believe is the greatest helmet on the market. i also think it is better then a speed with which i have had 2 concussions

I was wondering about that. From the research I did during my son's first Fball season this past fall, I discovered that no helmet can possibly elminate concussions because of the internal anatomy of the brain and structure of the human neck. The neck's whiplash effect and the internal shearing that occurs during the brain's reaction to linear and rotational forces cannot be prevented. Welker's helmet may have just given him more confidence or reduced the effect of the smaller hits that contributes to CTE over a player's career. I do wonder if the force of a frontal rotational impact can indeed be curtailed with the Xenith bonnet and shearing reduction design. I know about this because my son took a frontal hit to the lower facemask and I researched it.. I have good slo mo video of it.
Would you get the same size helmet as you would for the speed or any other helmet? My friend has the x2 and he said he got a size bigger
Do you know if these facemasks are interchangeable or are they for xenith only? if they are fro only xenith helmets would they work on the X2? I've been doing research and can't find answers -.-

if you are going to get a xenith the new xenith epic i believe is the greatest helmet on the market. i also think it is better then a speed with which i have had 2 concussions

I'm currently looking for helmets but I can't decide whether I should go for a Xenith X2 or a Schutt Vengeance DCT... what do you think? At the moment I play as a runningback and sometimes quarterback

Does the cheek pad hurt the side of you're head/pull your hair when you take it off. I've heard alot of people saying that.
