I think i know why you were leaking, mine did the same thing, I took it to a friend who is a real expert on carburetors, and he explained to me that those older gaskets cannot handle the ethanol in the fuel, even a small percentage. So depending on the materials in the rebuild kit, it may, or may not happen again, hopefully they have updated gasket material . I went with some Lucas treatment and it seems to be working fine or you could do the put water in to your fuel can and separate out the ethanol from the from the gas but then you have to sometimes give it a little octane boost.
