deepfocuslens No problem, most other reviewers and channels just view films as which ones entertained them the most, but you actually analyze them as an artform which I also do and admire you doing on a more sophistocated level. Okay for a question: So I know you did a top 10 favorite acting performances, but who are your top 10 favorite actors (5 male, 5 female)?
Congratulations on 5,000. I liked your Radiohead choices. Love Talk Talk's "Laughing Stock", probably a strong influence on Radiohead - that recording is timeless. The movies I watch repeatedly are the ones that are closest to music. Would love to hear you comment sometime on the films of David Cronenberg.
20:13 "Art as a way to function" When I have too many people around me, who don't have a strong connection with art, then I usually feel isolated, and since I like to express myself "artsy," then I feel misunderstood, even dumb at some points. But when I'm with people who get that kind of talk, and who are sensitive themselves, and who seem to understand me, connect with me, then it's heaven.
Congrats on 5K. I like to think of myself as a fairly intelligent evaluator of film. But, the depth and breadth that you bring to your reviews humbles me. Yet, I would like give my answer to the first great question .I evaluate movies 1st, by how I care about the characters - 2nd, I think the journey in a movie is as important as the destination (I hate when people say a movie is predictable, when I enjoyed the journey) 3rd - I want the movie to feel real in terms of myself, or in relation to what is, or has been going on in society (we agree on that one). I also agree that it is so important to review movies that are not current or mainstream. It opens those movies up to so many movie lovers. And, I love An American In Paris. it is style with substance. And yes, music may be the most emotionally evocative of the arts (my favorite is Eva Cassidy). Sorry for being so long winded. This was supposed to be a comment, not a novella Best wishes, Ted
CONGRATS. Dope reviews always. Dope points of view, dope taste in films. I hope life's well, and I hope you do this for as long as possible. Also, what kind of charity do you work for?
Congratulations! You deserve every subscription, unlike some others. Always looking forward to seeing your new videos. Top Ten Favorite Directors coming soon? ;-)
Saw Radiohead live two months ago for the first time. There was a great atmosphere and Radiohead fans really are nice and interesting people. Believe me I've gone to a lot of concert and you can tell the fans of some bands from others... I really like Barry Lyndon too. So much that I picked the music from the movie - Franz Schubert's Piano Trio No.2 in E-flat - as the music played on my dad's funeral. He wasn't into music so I got the honors to choose the music. Considered the opening theme of Handel's Sarabande but that sounded too dramatic.
Subterranean Homesick Alien is actually my favorite song of all time. I really love and support your content btw! You have a great personality and sound like you know what you're talking about. Planning to do movie reviews myself in the near future and talk about them in depth in a similar way (I actually have a script written where I'm going to review A Bronx Tale with Robert DeNiro), but keep at it girl! Ps have you seen Dunkirk? would enjoy seeing you review that. Just saw that at a Waterloo IMAX in London. Tata!
Dont think Ive spotted a Ghost in the Shell review of yours yet. Does it have to be a movie related question? Have you ever stopped and sat for a good while say in a park, or somewhere in a public place and just looked at the world around you, watched people going about their lives? If you have what has ran through your mind?
I have just one question. Do you read all of your comments? Because often your comment section is pretty damn interesting like your videos. Also, Congratulations.
I read them now and again but I certainly don't read them all. That takes a lot of time. But I try to get around to answering as many as I can depending on how busy I am.
Just discovered your channel and I really enjoy your reviews of great films! Just wondering, do you have a list of your Top 5 or 10 favorite bad guilty pleasure-type movies?
Speaking of movies that break rules, have you seen "kuso (2017)"? A very psychedelic and offensive movie done by the pioneer music producer "flying lotus". dude even got music score done by aphex twin and akira yamaoka. Its fun if you are not easily offended. are you watching twin peaks? that one episode was pretty groundbreaking and probably the 1st time ever done. it was that very abstract and also very trippy mostly visual driven episode. That was the 1st time i had ever seen an art house or extremely experimental episode in a tv show. Thoughts on "Funky Forest: The First Contact (2005)"? another extremely experimental and offensive movie that inspired "kuso". what about "Love Exposure (2008)" 4 hours of unique and bizarre characters and plots thats made for people who dont want generic movies. Plot from imdb - A bizarre love triangle forms between a young Catholic upskirt photographer, a misandric girl and a manipulative cultist. "American gods" is also an amazing show full of complex characters/plots and beautiful imagery done by a very talented DP. "legion" is also an extremely complex and visually mid fucking show based on a comic book character. Its obviously not made for the casual comic fan as it holds no hands and it feel nothing like any other comic book related movie or show. Mild spoiler but the main mutant has a mental disorder and the show does a great job at exploiting it to tell a story.
You are the prettiest movie reviewer I've ever seen ♡
The fact that you only have 5k subscribers is ridiculous, you are easily one of the most cinematically knowledgable movie reviewers on youtube.
Thanks! :)

Don't stop making content.

DEEPFOCESLENS, in your opinion, which film had a great story line, great acting, a good theme, and a fantastic director?
Holy shit, you actually pronounced my name right! No one ever does. :)

Can you review DW Griffith's filmography?
We discussed bringin' ya a big cake with 5,000 candles, but didn't want you to harm yourself trying to lung 'em all out.

i love that album. love to listen to it when the weather is gloomy
Great album. :)
If you had to pick a movie character to protect you in a zombie apocalypse, what character would you choose (ps. No superheros lol)
dynamo Rick Grimes, although he is not in a movie, I would pick him to protect me during the zombie apocalypse.
dynamo homer simpson
if only jon snow was a movie character :/
I would choose Maggie herself because she looks like someone who kicks ass daily.
CARLLLLL
You need to review suspiria please it's such a classic horror film and damn that end
Love that movie. Good idea. I'll try to remember that for Halloween or something.
They're remaking Suspiria. *sigh*
With Thom Yorke doing The soundtrack.
@@waterblonk And it was excellent
Ever read Don Quixote?
Do you think filmmakers should push the boundaries on sexuality and perversion in cinema?
I'm about to get into that a little bit in my next review. Stay tuned.
why are you mirrorin' the video...?
walid elsawi - her old camera used to do it by itself. She got used to it so she kept doing it even after changing her camera.
Congratulations!
