Used to go fishing on the beach at Gronant just along from Talacre. This was in the 1950s my dad would put a long line at low tide parallel to the shoreline maybe with forty or fifty hooks we baited them with lugworms which my dad and latterly me dug our of the sand. They were easy to find because the worm casts were a giveaway. They were VERY quick so one had to be equally agile! We went down at the next low tide to claim our reward!
Nice vids, I’m in the I’m addicted phase to sea fishing atm maybe because I live in the East Midlands. I’ve just acquired some pumps with a job lot of quality fishing gear so I’ve been out with it on holiday and Ive picked it up nice and quickly. Just blow lug before my fishing session. I do want to go and spend a couple of days getting blacks for my freezer for the cod on the holdeness over the winter season
Good video, Prestatyn is my go to beach , fish it a few times a week, be careful with the car park , if they lock the gates on you at night it’s a 70 quid release fee , just want to add , pumping worm is a personal thing , I get loads but not as many as the pro lads , but each one has slightly different techniques which work for them , you’ll find your own way of doing it , right near the water is better as the tide is flooding but you can get worms right up to almost the high water mark ( usually blow lug up that high ) blacks are easier on big tides when certain sandbanks are exposed, on your video you weren’t far enough up the beach , better worm beds to what would be left of your rods towards Rhyl 🤠👍👍
Well done Carl of the mark with the smoothies first session I did talacre myself Saturday 😠😩🤔 but blanked again now 5th or 6th time now not caught a single fish yet
@@Carlfishing check out starfish sea fishing video on RUclips great angler .fishing Anglesey menai last year that venue is a cracker had a 15 lb bull huss there I did last weekend there lots of smoothies there to and bass
Originally 14ft Akios discounted but I’m now looking at Century J curves. On Rough ground, I use 15ft Tronixpro Apex and a Cobra. Don’t just buy what other people have as rods are massively different to each persons needs. There isn’t one rod for everything to be honest and if anybody says there is… they lie or haven’t got a clue about rods. Sea fishing is massively different from coarse fishing. You will enjoy it more
Be careful by the lighthouse it was a bad place, i had to save a young kid who sank to his knees and couldn't move, i don't know if it's got any better.
There's plenty of worm at low where you were especially at the break water wall on the left of where you were it's a struggle at anything under 1m at low it's best when the tide only goes out just past the stone groin on a westerly upto half way up the groin or 3 hrs after low then it dies off forget high water it goes quiet👍
around 8 years old (depending on height) 850mm is used by 8+ or around 5ft 3 - 5ft 5 1 metre range generally suits around 5ft 6 to 6ft 1.1 generally suits people 6ft plus
And yes ch field sports is right the car park attendant comes at 11 to lock the gate luckily for me he drove on saw my car and shouted me I had 5 mins to get my car and gear outside the car park it nearly give me heart attack running up and down the beach with wellies on to get my stuff the only positive is I've never blanked at prestatyn
I stayed over night in the van and he let me due to fishing. He said it’s £60 if I wanted to leave after locking the gate. He wanted to see the fishing gear tho as proof

Brill and I’ll take a look at that area the next time I’m down
I recommend Pensarn Beach at exactly the same conditions you visited Prestatyn Beach in this video.
I will take a look soon
Nice videos on venues. I did these reccies a few years ago. You can pump worm on talacre also. More towards lighthouse before the long walk. :-) 😀
I noticed and pumping a Talacre will break up the walk I feel a little

The patches with the soft sinking mud have wooden posts sticking up stay well clear
