Those oil coolers are under $200 with the gasket set , If its out i would just replace it and after washing out cooling system with simple green a couple times, call it a head gasket if you still get oil in radiator.

it was in fact the head gasket but we where really hoping it was anything but that lol

@@WastedTalentFabricationshow much did you charged the client for replacing head gasket for a 24V cummins? I have a blown head gasket just wondering how much it is to pay a diesel mechanic to replace mine. I’ve been going to a few diesel mechanics but they all want to do a $200 diagnostic first before replacing head gasket, even though I already told them transmission cooler and engine oil cooler has been replaced already so it has to be a head gasket.

Can someone explain in detail how this oil cooler works?
Which part does the oil flow through? Which part does the water flow through?

I'm interested in a follow up, I'm looking for a coolant leak on my 03 (6MT) as well. Before touching the head I would block test it for the gasket. Since you have an Auto trans check the trans cooler its on the left side to the rear of the engine.

this video is a multipart series the first video we did the trans cooler no luck there then we did this one and in the next one we pulled the head and found the gasket was bad on the number one cylinder. If you get a chance check out the other videos some time and i hope your leak is not the head it was kinda a pain in the ass lol

@@WastedTalentFabrications See now you're makin me nervous. I'll do a block test soon, my last oil analysis didn't have any water and this has been an issue since I got the truck, I'm doing alot of cleanup after the previous 4 owners.
      How did cylinder one look?

@@mylesswann530 the oil on ours looked fine we just had oil in the coolant which is what made us do all the other tests. The cylinder looked fine it still had cross hatching in it the head gasket had crap in between the layers so we think the last guy did the head and never did the follow up torque and after a while it lifted enough to let oil into the water jacket.

@@WastedTalentFabrications Gotcha, I've just got a leak then. I check my coolant regularly since I top it off. I'm hoping it's just my water pump seal, the pump is an AC Delco so that probably doesn't help. Keeping up with leaks on these trucks is a full time job.
Did you go with a factory head gasket? Any other tid bits while you were in there?
