There's obviously a lot of professional car content on RUclips these days, but for me when considering the whole package I do think you're top of the pile. Well done to all involved, it really is good work.
Thank you for such high praise!
Agreed! Well said.
It is Netflix quality if not better
2nd that
I’ve said it a thousand times but it does baffle me that this channel doesn’t have over a million subscribers yet. Compared to other car channels that have a million plus subs, this channel stands head and shoulders over the vast majority them in terms of content and quality.
The water bottle transmission bit gave me a good chuckle. Excellent, as always, Henry
Enlivened what otherwise looks like a pretty dull, very expensive car.
@@EvoraGT430 dull but agreeable is most of the Audi Audience it seems
Get yourself a Porsche GT3 manual if you need the bottle gear shift!
Your film production is incredible, those first 20 seconds alone. No other car channel comes close to the quality level. My favourite car channel by far
give a try ruclips.net/video/Emv3dZVp15E/видео.html
or this ruclips.net/video/bfXz0dO_6sQ/видео.html
Try Hagerty. But I will be agry with you, Carfection is Top Level !
Seen a lot of reviews of this car, finally someone has commented on the manual gear shifts. Good ol’ Carfection, makes other car channels look amateur-ish.
I still don’t think a manual transmission on an ev really makes sense….
I know right! Manual EVs FTW!
@@Hadi_765lt It's not supposed to, they don't even make sense on ICE cars in 2021. It's purely for fun.
@@Hadi_765lt More like not technically possible right now for high torque EVs.
@@vomErsten That's not the relevant. Problems is massive sudden torque from electric motors will destroy transmissions mid shift. Its a technical problem.
Carfection - next-gen Topgear without the month python sketches.
EV charging stations need to slap a roof over the top, like any decent petrol station. Henry wouldn't have sat on the car giving us his views if the weather had been uncooperative, though it might have given him more aerodynamic hair.
theres much to be improved on with the charger infrastructure to be fair. theres a similar setup in milton keynes and its a horrible place to stop in terms of refreshment options.
Your videos are so unnecessarily beautiful and cinematic, I love it!
Another fantastic film from Henry and the carfection team. Beautifully made and well planned, great viewing 👏👏👏👌
We're glad you enjoyed it!
I do love Henry Catchpole’s presentation style…
Thank You for actually calculating the cost per mile in order to provide a clear comparison of the costs of an electric car to an internal combustion powered car. It's amazing how many testers don't do this basic fact reporting.
It's similar to the vaccine side effects... It's better people don't know how bad it is! 😂
Because fact is Vast Majority of charging should be done on LEVEL 2 slower chargers. They are about HALF the cost Petrol in UK. Level 3 DC Fast charging is only for driving way beyond the range your car in one day. As more BEVs get well over 250 miles range. You rarely need Level 3 DC Fast charging. That excessive high cost should rarely ever happen. You are paying for specialized equipment.
@@MrArt69 NOT Relevant, we're talking about freaking CARs here. Also it just does not make sense.
@@Neojhun just same logic... You can charge in level 2 or compare this with a diesel. A 3.0tdi will easily do half the price of the rs6 they used as example.
@@MrArt69 Sure a 2.0L TDI can be half the cost of a RS6. But that is still slightly more than Level 2 Public Charing. Still 1.5x private charging. You are correct though, something like a Skoda 2.0L TDI is very cheap to fuel, not the 3.0L though. We have two company cars with that engine.
Hi Henry, after watching all of the other videos and reports for this vehicle, I fell upon yours. This report is by far the best and just shows how on point you are, and ahead of the game in terms of content, quality and presentation. Your comments about Scotland are accurate and appreciated, my Mother’s family being from Shetland Islands, not sure if you have been to British Columbia Canada, very similar and very beautiful here. Thanks again for all of your wonderful work, we really appreciate you and your colleagues at Carfection.
Carfection deserves another million subs just for Henry's ''Evian Gearstick'' ;)... Absolutely the best motoring content on RUclips, as per usual!
I think Henry's hit upon an interesting idea for a desk toy there. A gearshift to bolt into your EV to 'pretend' you're shifting gears.
How about a fake clutch pedal, too.
With a "ptttsh!" noise on shifts :-)
@@numbereightyseven Yeah! And then you can have them endlessly customisable; heavy clutches, light clutches, short throw gearboxes etc. You have the shift you want, even if it does nothing.
When i was in school, I had an idea for a passenger brake pedal. It was just a floor mat with a fake brake pedal stuck to it, but the passenger would have something to jam their foot in to if they thought you were going to hit something.
@@Pete...NoNotThatOne connect it to a light that just says F$#K
true definition of poetry in motion, there's a vibe I can't describe from your videos and I love it
Gorgeous car, I would like a hybrid version to be honest, but God.. what a beauty..
I continue to be amazed by the quality of your content. Cheers!
I hit the Like button before I even saw the video...dindn't regret it. Hand's down the best car videos on youtube!
A wonderful review with humour making this content enjoyable to watch. Loved the water bottle gear lever 🤣. Manual EV FTW!
dont be scared to go lower with your charge and dont charge over 80% if in a hurry, then the charging will be even faster
I notice myself watching the picturesque views of Scotland instead of the car😊
🤓
Wonderful content guys! Thank you so much 😊
The detail, simplicity and sophistication is always great!
Mr Catchpole, you are excellent! 🙌🏾
It would be great to have the option to be able to download your own preferred sound for the engine in these cars.
Astonishing this channel with Henry has less than a million subscribers but channels like Doug demouro or throttle house have way more. Perplexing. This is the best channel. Period. And Henry is the ultimate. Best of the best.
Great episode Henry, I really enjoyed the review on the model.
That long road trip is much appreciated. The whole journal was so entertaining. Please do make more content like this.
Those first 20 seconds? I needed a cold shower and a cigarette just after that! Haven't even watched the rest of the video yet - Car Perfection indeed! Love you guys!
This is my favourite auto channel by far. Everything else comes second to this.
The slippy dif .. and riffing with the water bottles. I smiled too.
Perfectly pitched and well balanced review, although I'm surprised you got snow on the hills - central belt has been incredibly warm this year, even hitting 30C in September. A figure we rarely hit in peak summer! As for the A9, when the SNP came in to power they cancelled all road improvements on the road and then announced they'd have the road completely upgraded to dual carriageway in 25 years time. Claiming that no other party had made that commitment. I think they've quietly forgotten about it. Instead they put in speed cameras. They did the same on the A77, except when a politician's assistant was killed in an accident and when police were injured too (can't remember if they survived when they killed an innocent person or died too). Only then was something done, but alas, for any ordinary person's death they only use it as an excuse for more cameras not road improvements.
I'm surprised the mention of John Cage didn't come at 4'33.... great video! Love the gear stick!
I came here mistakenly , but today I understood that not all mistakes are bad , some can even introduce you to one of the best car reviewer on the planet
Very good review.
Henry, is the luggage capacity big enough for a full-size 4-seater GT car?
Made my day that my hometown (Greenock) got a mention on Carfection!
Even before I heard his voice or even see his face, the intro (first 2 or 3 seconds) I just could tell it's Henry. 👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾
Seriously beautiful camera work best eye candy / info for cars on RUclips .
EVs aren’t as good or bad as EV anyone says. Not for the purpose of driving and not for the environment. They’re simply cars. If you like them, great. If not, great. This is why I like Henry’s reviews. You can actually trust him to tell the truth about a car as a car and to simply say whether it’s good or not as well as its strengths and weaknesses. Great review. I would adore one of these in hybrid… if one were available.
Just come back from Scotland myself, I love it up there, first time doing the Dukes Pass and the Three Loch Drive, definitely my favourite place for a roadtrip
You people take auto journalism to another level all together.. keep it up guys 👍👍👍
The water bottle shifter really made me laugh. Nice one Henry.
Super film, great combo of road test, living with and road trip, thanks guys!
The opening is as good as a Bond movie. Tremendous stuff old chap.
The opening 20 seconds is amazing
Consistently brilliant videos. The production quality and Henry's presenting are both top class! You guys are the best in the business. The music during the intro. was amazing and really suited the location. Please keep doing what you're doing and thanks 👏
Re: the sound, I can't help but note that Audi's - and, indeed, Carfection's - back catalogue includes the mellifluous tones of the late, lamented 4.2 V8. Now that would have been an appropriate sound for the Dynamic setting.
We got up early,
And left quietly,
Heading predictably,
South.
This is why we love Henry’s narrative.
loved the manual transmission bit Henry haha!
also pretty crazy that the electric fuel costs more than petrol!
While I do love this car; everytime I look at it I see the Porsche Taycan roofline, doors and windshield. I wish I never noticed it. Great review ...great video.
This is sooooo good, I just hit the like button even before I watch the video because I know I'll always be in awe at the end of the video
Clean. I challenge you to top that Golf club sport review though 🔥🔥🔥
Why didn't Audi mount a drop-down tray in the boot lid for the charging cable/equipment? That would make a lot of sense. Besides that, though, I like this car a lot. Audi did with the E-tron what we car guys have been asking for: they're making a normal car that happens to have an electric drivetrain, not a futuristic hippiemobile with a 19-inch TV glued to the dash.
Yes! Perfect description of a certain overrated brand that starts with T and ends with Shit
Water bottle game had me actually lolling. This is some of the best stuff being made, well done team
This intro
The Ionity changing network is the most expensive to use in the UK, but probably the most reliable and available because of that.
They are spaced out perfectly, that if your EV has 200 ish miles of range then you can travel the distance of the country (Lands End to John o'Groats) and back with no charging issues.
Lucky for me Polestar is an Ionity partner so I can charge at 30p per kWh
For Audi it is 28p initially.
As always very well presented, and beautifully shot, hope this comment tickles the algorithms !
As for the Audi, this is to this day the only EV that is appealing, it's a god damn good looking car !
And being a BMW owner and fan, I really hope the bosses in München take a good look at this Audi and their own i4, and realize whats gone wrong.
Congratulations Audi, and future customers !
That damn volume touchy circle... I miss that refined last gen clickin' volume knob.
Easy to access, great to use, and nice to look at.
Great video, really makes me miss Scotland. Need to get back over there for a drive one of these days
Not sure why Audi did not release this thing as a Avant/wagon. Porsche beat them to the punch with the Taycan Cross Turimo. Audi stuffed up in my opinion. Thanks Henry, your videos are always fantastic. A class above the rest. Cheers from Australia.

I consider the Audi rs episode when you've been poored with snow in the desert is the best . what a cinematic shots !🎯
The wheels are amazing!!!
I've seen another option that look INCREDIBLE 😎
The wheels are 😍
Mercedes new EV definitely nailed the sounds a bit more, but this thing is gorgeous on the outside
Henry hit the big time, he’s now getting branded water bottles. Next stop, Top Gear. He and Harris are my two favorite reviewers
The EV will be the death of the car video. As good as Carfection is, they couldn’t make this car exciting. A big, heavy car that weighs more than an SUV, you need to stop for long periods often and it’s not making any sound. The outro of this video reminded me of what we love about cars including the sound.
Completely agree. It’s actually quite depressing, coming from someone who is a lifelong car nut. Only hope is that maybe these car magazines (like EVO and carfection and Motor Trend; etc) will start focusing on older ICE sports sedans, cars and super cars.
I have 4 Porsches including a GT3 race car, and a Kia E Niro, you can embrace both. As far as charging the Audi and the Porsche Tycan have the fastest charging available and can charge from 0 to 80% in less than 20 minutes. The technology is getting better all the time, if this had 300 mile range I would have bought it already.
Amazing video as always henry
I recently bought my first automatic in the form of a Colorado ZR2 diesel. The bit about the water bottle shifter, haha boy that hit home.
Ha! Sat in the exact same car in Corby at AITP12 back in August. :) remembered its plates
Great content, as always. That said, I will always want a 5 minute fill up for another 500 miles or so. When an EV can do that, let me know. And I'll still keep my FD because I love it.
Pointless, vast majority of people do not need that. 300 miles and 30 Minutes is perfectly adequate for CROSS CONTINENT driving. We are getting very very close to that ability.
@@Neojhun you’re allowed your opinion even if it makes no sense.
5mins goes by: Sir your car is done charging. Idc I want to sit here wasting time.
@@sylvester999999 yet the average Uk journey is 29 miles...... and you ALWAYS need 500?????
@@Neojhun bot
@@SNORKYMEDIA so you're advocating for a range of 29 miles between charges?
Great review as always, how do you rate the rear wheel steer i.e. is it essential as the insinuation is that it is RS specific and not on the 'normal' GT?
i do exactly this with my short term 2017 maxima rental. my manual bmw is in the shop and i miss it
Of all the RUclips car reviewers Henry is the best…
like the bring your own Aqua transmission option
sign of a good video when you get to end and think WTF was that 14 minutes already 👍
Would be interested to know when this was filmed - there hasn't been much snow in Scotland recently...
Simulate shifting with a water bottle - those things are the reason why this is my go-to car channel.
As I have to travel to London from York often my thought process for electric vehicles was that it had to get to London with one stop which Is what I would do anyway on a petrol car. As such this seems to now be a big tick we have on order the Audi Q4 etron which I'm desperate to have delivered now I'm truly looking forward to it. Whilst ordering though we did get chance to have a bash in the Audi Etron RS and it just totally blew my mind stunning inside and out truly I don't think anyone would be disappointed with it...
best EV on the market. If you're just doing city driving its perfect - no range anxiety. If you're planning to do a lot of long distance however, the infrastructure just isn't ready yet for you to have a convenient and worry free trip in your EV.
Brilliant car & video 👌
Henry I think you should just move to Scotland 😄
Hope you can get a drive with the new lucid air dream released to the public October 30. Lots of power 1080hp, lots of luxury and space plus 500 miles of range independently tested
thank you for not mentioning the taycan every sentence, nice video and i suppose the moral of the story is “buy an RS6"
1.40 when life flashes before you're eyes 🤣
That RS6 fuel consumption average is very...hopeful
tungsten carbide (the coating on the brakes) is one of the hardest compounds humans know of :) Diamonds are still harder however.
Fantastic review! 😊
This observation just occurred to me (yes, I'm slow): All of the charging stations that I've seen, are open air with no overhead covering. This is fine in areas like California, but in most countries, having an overhead covering when refueling in rain, snow or blazing sunshine/heat is very nice. So far, EV charging away from home means going out into inclement weather and messing with the power plug, using the charger interface and then either waiting inside the vehicle or walking somewhere else to kill time. How much investment will companies put into their charging stations of the future? We'll see how long that takes, and at what cost increase to the charge itself. I would imagine about 15-20 years for completion. And, I would guess, that by that time, the cost of charging an EV will be on par or more than if we continued with petroleum.
But I do like the Audi, just needs more range...like 500-600 miles. Then I'm in.
Investigation and...time! "Hello sir, could you please tell me whats the time, please?" "Yes, sure, i'ts about charging time!"
Given those running costs this car seems like a good argument for a fast diesel. Which could crack along at 80 doing about 50mpg. And then take 5 mins to fill up... when you get home. The charging network still has a way to go having seen what Exeter services looks like at the end of the school holidays with cars queued up at charging points. At this point in time I think PHEVs make more sense as a versatile 1 car solution: Pure EV for school runs and then IC for long trips
That A-pillar is HUGE.
I use a 1.25L to simulate the shifts in my SUV.
Edit: watching Henry's fingers on the shift paddles on the highway 😂👌
I enjoyed that very much. Maybe make it more interesting to note miles travelled and time travelled (in case you had to go out of your way to charge up) compared with a ICE car and the electric costs at each stop and in total for the journey compared to fuel. How does Ionity compare to the rest of them price wise etc.
Great vid. I totally agree with your findings. EVs are just perfect everyday cars, once the charging is completely sorted, its a no brainer. As for soul and pasion of driving, its just not there. However, for most people, a car is a car, hopefully us enthusiasts can still buy liquid fuels in the future.
In terms of sound, I don't understand why they don't offer something like a classic sound pack. Fake interior sounds of classic models. They could bundle them up and sell them like videogame packs. Imagine 80's Audi rally etc. Not something you would do with company, but on your own it appeals to the inner 9 year old in me 🙂
7:57 the way you squat seating in the back!
also, the delay on touch input at 7:42 is unacceptable.
As you were stopping at motorway services , you should have used the Petrol Price of £1.55.. they tend to average 20p higher than average
Your videos are terrific except for the quality of the microphone inside the car. Too much ambient noise.
Great video. Generous in content. Love it.
The comparison of fuel costs with an RS6 is interesting. Given that most of the cost of petrol is tax and that the government will have to recoup lost revenue once electric car uptake really takes off will we see travel becoming far more expensive for those who don't have the option to charge at home?
hats of Mr.Catchpole
Thank you very much, good presentation.
Haha jokes on you. I don't have 4 friends to make feel uncomfortable with launch control. Awesome work as always your videos never disappoint.
the first one to make watching EV testing fun ^^
Excellent production. Well done. But im not into sparky cars. So if you never review them, that would be cool 😁😁😁
