This concert is one the finest performances I have ever seen. The venue plays a huge part in this greatness, and a perfect place for an angel like Aurora. Visually stunning and wonderful acoustics. I am so glad you will get to experience this show and look forward to your thoughts on each glorious song.
She had to work hard to get the approval to play in this cathedral. There was resistance to it because her music is pop. I'm glad they eventually got the permission they needed.
Hi my dear fellows, I am so glad you startet this journey with Aurora. Her inspiring words in another song - …ˋare your dreams as dead as they seem‘ made me think a lot in several categories… Anyway: Go and do the next one In Nidarosdomen, you‘ll not regret! Greetings from Munich!
Wow I am very glad for this reactions. It is so cool you will react to this very magical concert - every songs and performances from the start to the end are amazing. And this concert was made in the beautiful cathedral and as far i know there was some discussion in that time if allow to make concert in this place, but fortunately it was allowed and now we can enjoy this magical concert. Ps. Next song Little Boy In The Grass is about Utoya massacre where she lost someone close. And of course as whole concert performance of this song in Nidarosdomen is great but I also love (maybe even more) acoustic version of this song on the small boat with only Aurora accompaniment by guitar played by Odd Martin (Mahogany Session). The Nidarosdomen version is "full instrumental" and also emotional, but the one on a boat is so raw and very very emotional.
Hi, great reaction to my fav artist. If my old memory serves me right she has 2 more cover songs in the concert besides this one of the old Nat King Cole song. David Bowie's Life on Mars, and Walking in the Air (not sure who this one is from). The rest of the songs are hers. Looking forward to the rest of the concert, see you then
"Walking in the Air" is a Howard Blake cover. With the magical lyrics, most reactors assume it's an Aurora song. Of course, she makes every cover own anyway.
Hi guys, wonderful reaction with Aurora. As you already know, every song she performed here are simply beautiful. I appreciated the comment about the oldest structures we have here in the States compared to other countries, US still a relatively young country in retrospect. Here is just a bit of info on Nidarosdomen: The cathedral, which was built from 1070 onwards, is the most important Gothic monument in Norway and it was Northern Europe's most important pilgrimage site for Christians during the Middle Ages. Located in the city of Trondheim in Trøndelag county, It is built over the burial site of King Olav II, who became the patron saint of the nation, and is the traditional location for the consecration of new kings of Norway. There is much much more information on this beautiful architectural masterpiece, after watching this concert many times I became fascinated with this Cathedral. You should look it up sometime. Cheers 🤩🤩
This whole concert is amazing. Btw, the next song of the sequence, Little boy in the grass, is about a close friend of hers who was killed in a massacre in Norway, so its quite a beautiful but sad song.
Thank you. Nice reaction. This is a cover of a Nat King Cole song. It’s a taste of the magic to come at this concert. Aurora sang this version as part of the “Teaser trailer” to the movie Alien Covenant . But it wasn’t used in the movie.
Absolutely love this concert series, a magical person in a magical place. I have been to the oldest continuously inhabited structure in the United States and they are older than you think. The Taos Pueblo in New Mexico, is over 1000 years old, about the same age as the Nidaros Cathedral. Our history is older than Columbus.
Awesome to see you guys checking out this special performance! As soon as she steps out onto the stage with those haunting and beautiful vocals, you know you're in for something special. Just her voice and a cello opening the show, and you can't help but be 100% invested. Goosebumps every time. Incidentally, "Nature Boy" is a cover from the late, great Nat King Cole, though like with many Aurora covers, you'd never guess that it's not her own song. I'm glad you played the interview before the show too. It really shows Aurora's humility, maturity and empathy for others. A lot of people deal with depression around the holidays, and that's when suicide rates are their highest, so I appreciate Aurora acknowledging that there are two sides of the coin during holiday season, and both sides should be respected.
Hi my friends get the tissues out and be prepared to let your tears flow, this concert should be on everyone’s Bucket list,I myself have lost count of the times I’ve watched this it’s captivating for you get to see Aurora not just singing you get to see a theatrical performance in every single song from a very special artist, you can visibly see how much every song means to her, they are all masterpieces but for me having seen her live 3 times there is one song that stands out above all the others and it comes near the end of this concert.the song moved me beyond words the song is Murder song 54321 this for me is the greatest live performance of any song I’ve ever seen the physical emotion that you can see in auroras performance is beyond anything I’ve seen.I promise you will be moved to tears like never before.stay safe sending love from an old warrior ❤️
Thank you, guys for your reaction video. 'Nature Boy' as the opening number really sets the tone for the entire concert with the theme of 'love'. Yes, 'Lucky', 'Through the Eyes of a Child', 'Soft Universe' and 'Winter Bird' are the breath takingly beautiful ones!
Thanks for doing this masterpice concert. In 9 days Aurora are having a consert in Kongsberg, only 20 minutes from where I live. I can't wait! The Nidarosdomen consert was a very special consert. NRK (Norwegian main broadcaster) is fantastic sound and video, world class. Aurora had her band with her, Trondheims Solistene (strings), Oslo Fagottkor (male choir for gay men only), and the massive Steinmeyer pipe organ with 10.000 pipes, weight 40.000 kg!! She felt she had to do it in a proper manner was influensed by a huge discussion, were the going to allow a consert with little or none christian music in the cathedral? Thankfully they did 😅
Before you do the next song; that’s one you need to know the back story to. From Aurora Aksnes wiki: In a Facebook post in 2015, Aurora referred to the Utøya massacre in 2011 and to someone important to Aurora who passed away that day. She wrote: "Today is the day. 22nd of July. It's been 4 years since you left us. Since all of you left us. how time flies, we even find ourselves forgetting for a moment, nearly moving on.. Not because we forget you, but because we remember to live. But know that I will always remember you, and everyone that went down with you. I will think of love, and send love to those who needs it this today. I hope no one is crying alone. Rest in peace my friend. You are free now." "Little boy in the grass"
You're doing the whole Nidarosdomen concert!? :D :D So very here for that! I love any and all Aurora related stuff....but this concert is hands down the best thing she was ever a part of, imo. I literally remember the date that I first saw it: March 17, 2020. The lockdown had begun a few days earlier and I was at home, bored, a bit freaked out by everything happening then, and I'd seen this concert in my recommended feed for ages and finally decided to give it a chance. I'd never even heard of Aurora up to that point. Needless to say, 1 hour later and I was a thoroughly changed person...it was like a conversion experience. I wish I could recapture and re-experience how I felt that night.....
😍😍😍 Very lovely reaction as always from you guys/Warriors💕 It wasn’t that easy for Aurora to have a concert in Nidarosdomen, the church administration fought against it because they wanted a more Christian content in the concert. Fortunately she was allowed, because it’s the most beautiful concert I’ve seen 😍 Nidarosdomen or Nidaros Cathedral is Olav the saint's/Olav Haraldson’s (Viking king) burial church, pilgrimage destination, signing church - and Norway's national shrine. I see you’ve got the description of the next song “Little boy in the grass”, a very sad but beautiful song❤️ See you on the next one🥰🥰
it may be a cover, but Aurora has elevated it to such an extent that it has become nothing less than a masterpiece, and that is a gift that I currently know only Aurora possesses
I know you are going though this concert, but when you have a moment...the Mahogany Session live of Little Boy in The Grass and knowing the history of it from others in the comments is a sad and visceral performance you should react too when you can.
Aurora has lost (very) loved ones, so the two states of mind she talks about at the start (for Christmas) are part of her own experience, I guess. What a beautiful and glorious concert opening, isn't it? You absolutely have to listen to the original, from Nat King Cole, it's really interesting to compare (in exemple: ruclips.net/video/Iq0XJCJ1Srw/видео.html ). All the songs here have a specific intrumentation (and vocals, well, the whole setting) to this very venue, as you already saw with "Through the eyes of a child", so in a way she covers her own songs too in this concert. A great concert, indeed. Thank you very much, friends, for this nice reaction to Aurora, this tremendous singing story teller.🙂👍
btw.....this concert is mostly Aurora originals. But there are 3 covers: This one, Nature Boy...Walking in the Air...and Life on Mars. Walking in the Air is _gorgeous_ btw. All 3 songs somehow perfectly suit her and come across as if she could have written them. Also, the next two songs...Little Boy in the Grass and Under Stars don't appear on any of her albums, but were released as standalone singles. Gah....this entire concert is SO good. I hope, for your own sake, that even if you split up the songs for your channel, you at least take them in all in one go. It's definitely the sort of concert best experienced in it's entirety. :)
Aurora has said that she was initially reluctant to sing in public because she didn't like the sound of her voice. Very odd, considering that so many people now are totally enraptured by her singing.
EDIT : There is audio. My headphone connector was half-unplugged. The strange thing is that I had sound for the other players/software (and for the first 6 seconds).... Now I'm going to enjoy this video. (Before edit : "There is no audio after 6s")
