What's better than to start the week with one of your favorite composers and that's for sure Leopold Kozeluch. My dear Lulian thank you for this magnificent Symphony and have a pleasant time during the dark days before Christmas. I have the Christmastree already standing.

Dear Pieter, thank you for appreciating the music and I wish you to enjoy the freshness of the Christmas tree for as long as possible. For me it is too early, our traditions ask me to decorate the Christmas tree no more than a week before Christmas. So I don't have to look out the window for too long to catch the moment when Santa Claus will come ... and see if he has a mask, of course! :))

Especially in 4th movement there's a lot anticipating Schubert first couple of symphonies and even beyond, particularly in the counterpoint "fugato" portion. Koželuch remains one of my favourite xviii century composers.

"The autograph score is lost, but it was published under the composer's own imprint in Vienna and therefore obviously with his authority and blessing, early in 1787." (from album note)
