Thank u Eric ! I have the class at school 13-14 years teens and it’s something unbelievable ((( they shout , they are bold . It’s not only at my English class but also with other teachers . As I am new at school , I was disappointed really . You give me confidence . Thank u 🙏🏻
Thank you for this video. The number 3 is good but with the situation we have today where students felt privileged due to social media and no teacher protection when it comes to discipline process. They have this idea that we are ashaming them when we discipline them. So most of us felt we need to protect ourselves and do nothing instead so we don't lose our jobs or famed in social media negatively.
@@etacude thank you, here in the Philippines you might have heard of some issues about teachers in social media and it is very sad some are being cursed in social media
My first week back has been a little overwhelming both personally and professionally. I decided to stay put home all weekend to catch on items so that I wouldn't feel rushed or overwhelmed on my return to work tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos on your return to Korea. I am glad you were able to enjoy the Phillipines. It looks like such a beautiful country. I have never been to Asia and it is most definitely on my bucket list. All the best to you !
Hi Dr. Hemphill, that first week back is always a major challenge. If we're lucky we can prepare well but there will always be obstacles at home or with work. Fortunately we have experience and I believe that if we focus on the process we will end up on top. New teachers have to find a different way of motivating themselves, be it through excitement or taking solace in the truth that there is always tomorrow, they will make it through. Good luck with your year and I hope you have a great week!
I've just come across your videos, and can't stop watching them. You're fabulous !Thank you so much for sharing with us! Your experience is very very and extremely important! Thousand of thanks!
Hi, Eric. I am a retired teacher. After a few years of following my dreams, I decided to return to teach again. I teach now at a community college in U.S. I've learned all over again rom your videos. Thank you. I didn't get the title of the book you were mentioning in this video. I'd appreciate if you reply with the title. Glad that you are teaching in Seoul, my home town when I was young.
Hi Chu! Thank you for the comment and sorry for the late reply. The book is called 'Managing Behavior in the Classroom' by David Wright. It's quite rare to find so I'd like to make a newer version in the future. 😄
I am a teacher from a foreign country. Not an english country. So my english would not be good. I follow you. Beacause I dont like our country s education system and I want to make a change. So I search for new tricks and tips, methods etc. Our country s teacher education is very boring. There are so many courses. We have to pay for that boring courses. Thank you so much sir because your content is very attractive and valuable to me. ♥️
Yes! You are very helpful. I am grateful for your intuitive and creative ideas that you share. Thank you!!! Veronica from No Venice, FL USA I would have loved to have been your student!! : )
Dear sir. When you talk about the third tip. Is it used on adults students too? For instance, can I take an university student aside and talk to them about the problem that he o she has? Thank you.
Thank you Theo! I subbed to your channel and enjoyed your video. Your reading is crisp and clear. It can help students learning to read. Keep on making videos if that's what you're into!
I'm glad you liked it. My mom told me I should stick to the main points. Also, I was kind of nervous while shooting cause there were people around. 2 weeks from now I'm back home and I'll be ready to make good videos again! Till then I hope you have an amazing week Sabrina! 😄
Thank you for your videos. I heard you say you borrowed three basic rules for the classroom. Each rule included the main word of respect. I can't find the rules. Can you point me in the right direction? Which video did you post those in?
Good question T! I probably said it in some other videos but I'm not completely sure which. The 3 rules I give my students are: 1. Respect everyone 2. Treat your classmates kindly 3. When someone is speaking, listen quietly. I hope these help. 😄
Wow! you are soooo amazing.. Hats off.. I learned a lot from you.. Every single word you say is a treasure. You helped me a lot in class management and control. The best ever 🏆❤️ Are you British?
Hi Eric! How do you deal with young learners who swear in classroom? I have a new student that swears every time he makes a mistake. I try to make him feel comfortable and your videos have helped a lot in classroom management. I show him it's ok to make mistakes but the other students don't want to make him part of the group so he feels isolated anyway. It's a complex situtation I know, but I was wondering if you any tips. Should I ignore the bad words? Should I pretend it never happened and then deal with it in private with the student? Thanks in advance!
Hi Martha! Great question. If it's an isolated incident, strategically ignore it, but later mention to the student that it was wrong in private. If it's obvious in front of class, you want to tell him publicly that it is wrong to swear ~ also, reinforce the rule about swearing by telling the class why it's wrong. Ask the student if he understands, if he apologizes then say okay, but you don't want to hear it again. If he doesn't apologize, ask to see him after class and continue so that the interruption doesn't steal more of your time. I guess those are the 3 options. 😄
@@etacude Thanks for your answer! One of the things I've done is to make him say 3 good words for every bad word but it takes a lot of time. I guess I will have to create a clear rule about it! Thanks again for your help!
So glad to have discovered your channel. Your videos and advice are super helpful! Could you tell me the author or ISBN number of the book "Managing behavior in the classroom" ? Thanks so much! and greetings from France!

I enjoy and benefit from these videos, but @ 8:50 I think he misuses the word capitulating. Demanding is not capitulating, demanding can force the capitulation on somebody else.
what if students are talking from another language I felt they are talking about me. Even I set the rule no speaking in their native language so hardheaded students,,,,
Every week you have to start class by telling them that they will never improve unless they use English. They can not be afraid to look silly or make mistakes, because that is the only way they will grow. Sometimes they can quickly use their language to explain, but that is an English class. They have to use English, especially when they are doing activities! Do this every week and correct them. Be strict but understandable.
For such a useful book it is difficult to find. I believe it might be out of print. In the future I'll make content based on it. But that is a long time away! I hope you can find it Rex, I got it on Amazon.

I think so if the Filipinos were colonized by you American and have difficulties of English what good is they talking native language Filipino than English there that arises terrible doubts TRUE
I was talking to some Philippinos last night and some of them think it would've been better for them to welcome the Americans. I don't know if it's true or not but it's an interesting idea.
@@etacude yes theacher erick but the question is not because of reception, americans and yes because they are speaking more native filipino language than english, does that result in what the american colonization did not solve at all?
